Everything is close by, from the nearest Turkish supermarket to an Indian theatre or Chinese acupuncturist. And whether it s summer or winter, Berlin has an event calendar packed with great things to do in your free time, from clubs to opera, theatre to fringe shows, muscle toning in fitness studios to finding your voice in a choir, or just simply enjoying some of the city s many green spaces. Whatever your favourite ways of spending your free time, it s sure to be part of Berlin s leisure landscape. Berlin is also one of Europe s greenest cities. It has 2500 public parks and gardens, spoling Berliners and guests for great walking or biking or even boating! Berlin s nightlife is just as varied. The BSEL is distinguished by a clear focus on providing academic education strongly linked to real world skills, an intensive and diverse programme of research, high quality standards and a strong international approach. The University s portfolio of programmes covers private and public sector business and economics, administration, law, security management and engineering. The University offers over fifty study programmes. Nearly all of them now lead to a Bachelor s or Master s degree, have been quality controlled and bear the seal of an accrediting agency. The BSEL is distinguished by a wide range of research at the interface of academic theory and its real world applications. Research into topics and issues in economics, the social sciences, administration, engineering and law is conducted in the University s five Departments, two Central Institutes, seven internal research institutes and five associated research institutes. However, there are several possibilities for exchange students to find accommodation during their stay in Berlin. However, the BSEL International Office will provide limited third party accommodation spots for exchange students, offered by either Studentenwerk Berlin or Studentendorf Berlin ( student village ). As an exchange student, you can solely apply via the BSEL International Office via the online form for your BSEL exchange. Transport BVG (Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe) is the main public transport system in Berlin. Students are able to get a discount on public transport with the BVG semester ticket. There are three different pay zones for public transit in Berlin. You can buy your tickets from one of the many BVG and S-Bahn Berlin ticket selling areas, or directly at the automats in the stations. 7
