3 Business Administration The s degree offered by the Lucerne School of Business is a comprehensive and up-to-the-minute higher education programme completely taught in. With its proven combination of practical and academic relevance, it takes the students straight into the world of business and the management of commercial enterprises and organisations. General and Economics The programme consists of a generalist component combined with one out of the three specialisations. In the generalist component students acquire foundational management skills and the ability to analyse and evaluate important variables in the corporate environment. The focus on specialisations starts at the beginning of the second half of the programme. At that point, the emphasis is on developing subject-specific proficiency in the area of specialisation. Generic skills will be further developed through related practical training. Accounting focuses on concepts and instruments that enable effective management information and tools to be provided in a company, thereby contributing to the implementation of strategic targets. Finance covers topics such as value-oriented management, methods of corporate valuation and the preparation of investment decisions. Students will also get a solid background with regard to both the Swiss and the international banking sector and the key success factors in those industries. The programme is brand new and has been designed to include a wide range of tourism-related topics, such as tour operating, airlines, hotel and hospitality management, wellness, sports and destination management. Students also have the opportunity to acquire a good understanding of product development and product manage ment in tourism, of e-commerce, digital transformation, event management, consumer behaviour, trends and innovation. Courses enable students to develop professional skills relevant to working in tourism such as communication, sales, negotiations, entrepreneurship and leadership. The programme design has been kept deliberately flexible to allow for studies to be combined with work, or for the integration of internships, or for exchange semesters at one of our international partner universities. 7 The Lucerne School of Business The Lucerne School of Business The Lucerne School of Business is part of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and Central Switzerland s centre of excellence for advanced management education. With its teaching, research and consultancy services, the School of Business actively and effectively contributes to the development of a knowledge society.
