1 BSD Assessment Canvas Course The BSD Assessment Canvas Course is meant as one-stop shopping for all things assessment. These include test specifications, analysis training, Homeroom tutorials, and important assessment announcements to name just a few. To view this course, you can self-enroll with HOMEROOM All individual student assessment, attendance, behavioral, and family information as well as school/district summary dashboards can be accessed through Homeroom. 2 STAR Early Literacy (SEL) Ø Format: Online (ipad-compatible) Ø Participants: All 1 st grade students participated in benchmark testing in Fall, Winter, & Spring Ø Additional participants for progress monitoring: Struggling readers in grades 2-5 receiving intervention may use SEL for progress monitoring if the student s STAR Reading score is below 138. o LAP eligibility (1 of 2 required measures) and LAP growth (state LAP reporting) o Screen for students at-risk in reading (note: additional diagnostic may be needed) o Levels include urgent intervention, intervention, on-watch, and benchmark o Students at the probable reader level (SEL 775) should be considered for additional testing with Star Reading testing. 3 DBELS Next (Early Literacy LAP Eligibility Screening) Ø Format: 1:1 for all measures DBELS team provided to assist with testing. Ø Participants: All students grade K-3 (fall), K-only in Winter and Spring benchmark testing Ø Purpose/ntended Use: o LAP eligibility (1 of 2 required measures) o Screen students for students at-risk with basic early literacy skills. (Note: Additional diagnostic may be needed to identify exact deficit). Ø Printing: The BSD Assessment office will coordinate all printing and shipment of student DBELS booklets for benchmark assessments. Schools must coordinate printing and shipping with print shop for any progress monitoring student booklets. Ø Required Measures and Window for Benchmark Testing: GR FALL (Sept 15-26)* WNTER (Jan 23-25)* SPRNG (May 15 17)* K LNF, FSF LNF, FSF, PSF, NWF-CLS LNF, FSF, PSF, NWF-CLS 1 LNF, PSF, NWF-CLS NWF, DORF (WC, ACC) DORF (WC, ACC, RT), DAZE WaKDS Ø Format: Teacher observational records Ø Participants: All K (state designated objectives) nventory of student s baseline skills in 6 developmental areas. Ø Window: All fall data must be entered into the MyTeachingStrategies by October 31 Smarter Balanced nterim Assessments Smarter Balanced nterim assessment will be utilized to provide practice (for both teachers and students) with the Smarter Balanced assessment system. n addition, teachers will get feedback on a student s level of mastery on topics and items using items developed by Smarter Balanced mimicking what will be on the state assessments. Features for this include: Ø ARWays - tem-by-tem Score Reports Ø Teacher Viewing App that allow teachers to view the questions. Ø Off-Grade Level testing can be done for feedback both above or below grade level Ø Accommodations/designated supports should be set to match and practice those being used in the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments. 4 English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA21) Ø Format: All tests will be online Ø Participants: All students who qualify for State Transitional Bilingual Program Ø Schedule: Window: February 1 March 30 (exact dates determined by BSD ELL program) Highly Capable Testing (CogAT) Ø CogAT Screener: This assessment is given to all 2 nd grade students for the purpose of complementing our referral system and identifying more students. Students scoring high on this shortened screener and not already referred for testing will automatically be referred for the complete testing. Ø CogAT Complete: All referred students are tested with the complete CogAT. This testing consists of three batteries (Verbal, Quantitative, and Non Verbal) each with three subtests. Results of this test represents one part of the qualifying process for highly capable programs. Classified support hours have been given to each school to support data entry into Homeroom. END OF MODULE ASSESSMENTS (EOM): All BSD students will take the End of Module Assessments. Data will be entered into Homeroom. MD-MODULE ASSESSMENTS (MM): t is expected that schools give a mid-module assessment that is common for all students in a grade level team. The default assessment would be the Eureka provided assessment, however school teams, in consultation with the principal, may alter or create a different mid-module assessment. Contact the Assessment office of any changes so Homeroom can accommodate the new data entry. Ready Gen Assessments The Ready Gen Assessments will continue to serve as our common district ELA assessments. Data entry through Homeroom can be accomplished via classified support hours and the school. END-OF-UNT ASSESSMENTS (EOU): All BSD students will take the End of Unit Assessments. The End-of-Unit assessments include an Extended Response section for grades 2+. The Foundational Skills Test is not part of the unit test and available as an optional test. Data will be entered into Homeroom. PEFORMANCE-BASED ASSESSMENTS (PBAs): The Performance-Based Assessments are tasks or projects given at the end of each module to measure students progress toward master of ELA standards taught in the module. They provide opportunities for students to apply the skills they learned during the module lessons to a complete writing task. The PBAs are a required part of the ReadyGen curriculum. Due to the allowable scaffolding, the PBA is not considered part of the district assessment system.
