2 BROAD PURPOSE The Inclusive Education Assistant JC will promote the CBC and EREA mission, vision, values and touch stones in all aspects of the role. They will work within available budgetary and staffing levels to ensure optimal student outcomes and promote contemporary 21 st Century teaching and learning. They will establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, the wider community, students and their families to effectively individualise student learning. They will have well developed skills in ICT and the ability to communicate effectively with all members of the College community and its external partners. The Inclusive Education Assistant JC is responsible for the establishment of and/or day-to-day effective and efficient operation of; MiniLit and/or MacqLit Reading Intervention program; including implementation, assessment and maintaining Development and maintenance of Junior Campus Inclusive Education and Intervention Database Early Intervention screening, data collection, analysis, reporting and monitoring of students at risk Maintenance of assistive technology DUTY STATEMENT Key Responsibilities and Duties Apply knowledge and skills to develop, manage and implement data informed programs, targeting and monitoring early literacy development and intervention Establish and maintain Junior Campus Inclusive Education and Intervention database Support ESO staff in the administering and monitoring of targeted intervention programs Provide and delivery training programs and plans in Multilit to support ESO staff Develop, manage, maintain and regularly report on Junior Campus Inclusive Education Database Implement developmental screening in the early years From an evidence base, plan, develop and design targeted intervention for students at risk Produce diagnostic reports/graphs that inform continuous improvement in literacy development at multiple levels eg. Student centred, classroom based and whole school development Establish and maintain positive working relationships with classroom teachers, focussed on continuous improvement in student learning outcomes Provide classroom support for Inclusive Needs students that have non-resourced Inclusive needs, that is for students with a specific learning disability as directed by the Inclusive Education Coordinator Maintain ongoing communication with the Inclusive Education Coordinator regarding individual student progress according to the aims, expectations and curriculum modifications outlined in the Action Plan of targeted students Support the Inclusive Education Coordinator in the development of curriculum support material for students with specific learning disabilities in consultation with the family Attend review meetings as required with all support personnel including the student and his family Assist with the use of ITC support for CBC students, familiarise students with their operations and support with maintenance such as recharging. Assist classroom teachers on excursions when directed Perform any other duties as required by Line Manager or the Principal HR-PID-017 Inclusive Education Assistant JC December 2017

3 PERSON SPECIFICATIONS Skills & Knowledge Apply effective leadership skills to promote continuous improvement in literacy intervention and development Work with other education support officers to achieve improved literacy outcomes for students at risk Work autonomously to implement and manage Junior Campus intervention programs, specifically MiniLit and/or MacqLit programs and early years screening (desirable) Demonstrate effective skills and knowledge to lead, manage, monitor and implement data informed intervention as evidenced through both formal and informal professional development Demonstrate and apply a high level of knowledge and skills in literacy development Demonstrate high level autonomy and initiative Support and active commitment of the ethos of the College, as a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice Tradition. Effective oral and written communication skills Reliable, motivated and capable of functioning effectively both as an individual and a member of a team Ability to work with individual children with particular needs Have the ability to self-manage and be highly motivated in a complex work environment Ability to interact with students/children in a positive, sensitive and respectful manner Ability to develop and implement positive behaviour education practices Ability to cope in an emergency or in a stressful situation Effective time management skills Ability to liaise with relevant authorities and community groups Strong computer literate with PC Applications (including Microsoft Office Suite, and internet) Be committed to questioning processes and practices in pursuit of continuous improvement HR-PID-017 Inclusive Education Assistant JC December 2017

4 SELECTION CRITERIA The Inclusive Education Assistant is responsible for addressing the four College values through leadership which is faith centred, innovative and focused on success for all. Strategically developing and monitoring a holistic education and the pursuit of success for all; Responding to compliancy matters in relation to Catholic Education Office, EREA, National and State compliancy incorporating OH&S etc; Collaborate with key leaders of learning to ensure high quality assessment and reporting R-6 Provide educational management and organisation to ensure promotes a safe and rigorous learning environment. COMMUNITY Collaboratively plan, implement and review learning opportunities that are reflective of high quality teaching and learning and promote within the community inclusion and spiritual formation consistent with the college Mission, Vision, Values and the Touchstones and Charter of the EREA. Celebrate and lead unique traditions of the College and innovatively contribute to its future vision and growth; Maintaining continuous, open communication with the Executive Leadership Team, Director Vision and Innovation, key leaders in learning across the campus, teachers, children, their families and professional partnerships within the wider community. COMPASSION Demonstrate leadership that is reflective of both empathy and compassion to those in need. Collaboratively lead with the Co-ordinator Justice and Peace, Junior Campus REC and Justice and key leaders of learning the EREA Justice and Peace Framework. Model leadership that advocates and reflects compassion, empathy and justice, especially for those at on margins.
