8 PPR Walks Our administrative team analyzed the PPR and chose the main elements that we determined would improve instruction. We reviewed these with teachers at the beginning of the school year. Domain 1- Planning and Preparation PP Element 2: The teacher develops instructional goals that represent high expectations, reflect relevant learning, and demonstrate conceptual understanding of curriculum standards, and frameworks. The teacher develops student learning goals and objectives that are measurable by authentic assessment practices. PP Element 3: the teacher designs coherent lesson and unit plans, instructional grouping, and learning activities. The teacher s plans effectively align with instructional goals and reflect school and/or district standards, including horizontal and vertical alignment. Examples: Unit plans, common assessments, curriculum maps, lesson plans, daily objective posted for students Domain 2- Learning Environment LE 6: The teacher effectively manages instructional groups and transitions LE 7: The teacher effectively manages student behavior (articulates clear expectations, monitors and reinforces appropriate student behavior). 10 Positive Behavior Instructional Support As of September 30 th staff had filled out 722 pioneer coupons acknowledging positive student behavior. As of 9/30 there were 267 discipline referrals. The goal is to acknowledge positive behaviors displayed by students at a 4 to 1 ratio. We are at about a 2.7 to 1 ratio as measured by pioneer coupons to discipline referrals. Referrals as of 10/14/11 compared to 10/14/10 are approximately 20% lower with 464 referrals for the 11/12 school year and 573 for the school year. We have developed a theme We ARE SK! Accountable-Respectful-Engaged. These guidelines are followed school wide. Each teacher reviews the same expectations with their students. Each teacher has a matrix that they display with the guidelines on it. 12 Page 10 of
