6 Magnet Theme: Technology with Global Communications Description: The Technology with Global Communications magnet is a whole-school program that exposes all students to the magnet theme. Students use digital technology for research (to analyze information) and prepare presentations aligned with core curriculum. Students have opportunities for the enhancement of STEM skills though the magnet theme using technology. In addition, students participate in interactive instruction via Smart technology in the classrooms. The school has a high tech news studio which beams the morning news to all classrooms daily. Project-based learning is accomplished through research using the resources provided through the school s media program; students create public service announcements, news shows, and PowerPoint presentations. Metis Associates Magnet Program Review Results: The school offers a high tech classroom environment and well-equipped media center and uses distance learning in partnership with other schools. All students are exposed to the magnet theme. The number of in-boundary students not attending the school far exceed the number of out-of-boundary students attending the school.
