1 Responsible Behaviour Plan for Students Based on The Code of School Behaviour Purpose Education Queensland is committed to ensuring that every day, in every lesson, every student in state schooling is learning and achieving within a safe, supportive and disciplined learning environment. Elanora SHS is committed to provisions that ensure all students have a right to and receive a quality education. Through forming quality relationships, Elanora State High School aims to achieve maximum learning outcomes for students recognising the reciprocal relationship between academic success and social behaviour and thus aiming to ensure students can mature into responsible and active global citizens. The Whole School Data Plan is constantly referenced to stay current with student information s, to ensure they achieve their potential. Each child receives a personalised On Target interview yearly to review individual pathways. 4 Behaviour that poses an unacceptable risk to the safety or wellbeing of other students, staff or other members of Elanora community including but not limited to, physical violence and all forms of ongoing or severe bullying and harassment including cyberbullying Conduct that adversely affects, or is likely to adversely affect, other students enrolled at Elanora SHS Possession of certain inappropriate objects or weapons, including but not limited to knives Behaviour that interferes with property of Elanora SHS or others of the Elanora community Inappropriate use, possession, supply of intoxicating and / or illegal substances and/or utensils Persistent misconduct / disobedience or other conduct likely to adversely affect the good order and management of Elanora SHS Serious behaviour or action in a private capacity that may occur outside school hours and grounds and is prejudicial to the good order and management of Elanora SHS Inciting, aiding, filming, circulating or abetting unlawful behavior If student is charged / convicted with a serious offence If senior students after extensive support continue to not meet attendance or assessment obligations Serious behaviour which brings the reputation of Elanora SHS into disrepute Major violation of Elanora SHS Code of Conduct Policies Major violation of the rights of others Detention in out-of-school hours including Saturday Cancellation of Enrolment Discipline Improvement Plan Temporary removal of student property consistent with the Temporary Removal of Student Property by School Staff policy Suspension 1-20 days Case management Individual Behaviour Plan Parent conference Restorative Justice Conference Responsible behaviour contract Counselling Referral to outside support services, agencies or alternative education providers Suspension of technology access Physical restraint within departmental guidelines Functional behaviour analysis Recommendation for Exclusion (after all consideration has been given to all other responses) Referral to the police Emergency responses or critical incidents A lockdown is put into action to secure people in buildings to prevent the potential threat of harm or injury to members of the school community. The lockdown alarm signal is a sequence of bells in very quick succession. Students MUST follow teacher direction in this situation. The all clear is signalled by a latter sequence of bells in quick succession or by a verbal direction from administration staff. Notification of a situation requiring evacuation of classrooms is by continuous ringing of the bell. Students calmly follow teacher direction and assemble on the oval in their form class for roll marking. Students are to stay in position until directed to leave. The Administration team will manage all critical incidents in accordance with the Department of Education, Training and Employment Policy and Procedure Register and in particular the Safe, Supported and Disciplined School Environment Policy. The network of student support All students are expected to take responsibility for their own behaviour and engage in learning. Comprehensive arrays of incentive programs are in place to recognise these positive choices. Students however, who choose behaviours other than what is expected in the classroom will be referred to the Restorative Thinking Classroom (RTC). Support is available for students who are having difficulty making positive choices. This support includes Administration, Dean of Students, Year Coordinators, Form teacher, Guidance Officer, School Police Beat Officers, Youth Support Coordinator, Heads of Department, Sexual Harassment Officers, School Nurse, School Chaplains, Interagency Personnel and alternative educational settings.

5 Consideration of individual circumstances The forming of positive relationships, case conferencing and an understanding of the individual child helps to ensure that each child is seen and treated as an individual. Responses to inappropriate behaviour will consider the particular situation and context, the individual circumstances and actions of the student and the needs and rights of school community members.
