DRIVE Academic Growth for English Language Learners Exact Path supports the diverse needs of your ELLs through a flexible approach to learning. ELLs can successfully navigate through Exact Path independently by engaging in scaffolded instruction and practice in their learning paths, as educators utilize powerful data views and teacher resources to efficiently personalize instruction. Exact Path provides: Additional time, support, and close monitoring as ELLs learn foundational academic concepts Learning begins at a student s instructional level, instead of grade level, delivering content via an age-appropriate interface Listening, speaking, reading, and writing support A valid growth measure of performance that draws educators attention to precisely where students need additional support DID YOU KNOW: Exact Path has been awarded a WIDA PRIME V2 correlation, indicating the program s ability to meet ELL students listening, speaking, reading, and writing needs.
Target different learning modalities Exact Path supports different learning modalities by incorporating listening, speaking, reading, and writing support. Instruction within a student s individual learning path is designed to develop vocabulary and language skills. Instruction is supported with audio, models, and visual supports to help differentiate content for all targeted proficiency levels. LISTENING Assessment-driven learning paths deliver mediarich and interactive lessons. Lessons include closed captions for videos and instructionally appropriate reading passages. Built-in text-to-speech functionality ensures that students can listen to directions, and reading passages are read aloud. Students are asked to listen to instructions for each task and complete assignments based on audio content. SPEAKING Exact Path encourages students to engage in collaborative discussions and activities and to record verbal presentations to meet rigorous speaking and listening standards. Exact Path includes multiple characters who talk to each other in discussions and present information to students as they work through their lessons. Speaking skills are further developed in the Teacher Resource activities and in focused listening and response activities.
Target different learning modalities READING Exact Path lessons are supported with vocabulary development, reading comprehension, grammar, and word study instruction. Reading content includes genres like short stories, nonfiction, biographies, and poetry. Reading skills are taught throughout the program in vocabulary, word analysis, phonics, fluency, and reading comprehension activities. Vocabulary words are highlighted, and students can use the on-page tools for translation, definitions, and audio support. WRITING Exact Path fosters development of the writing process by enabling students to practice drafting, revising, and editing written responses. Writing skills are reinforced throughout the program as students practice writing sentences, answering questions, and developing written presentations. Writing activities are supported with multistep processes that include models and graphic organizers.
Customer spotlight Exact Path Customer Spotlight: Isaac Elementary School District Isaac Elementary School District in Phoenix, Arizona, has been using Exact Path for its students during the school year. Within this district, almost the entire student population is Hispanic, and it qualifies for free or reduced price lunch, with 40% of the students identified as English language learners (ELLs). Early research results show that the ELL students in this district have made similar academic growth over the course of the school year, as evidenced by comparing their Exact Path diagnostic scores for individual students in the fall and spring. The figure below compares the distribution of the growth for both ELL and non-ell students. By comparing the growth distribution of ELL and non-ell students represented by this graph, it is evident that both groups of students made similar progress over the course of the school year. Growth Analysis for ELL Populations Growth was measured for the school year using Exact Path scale scores. Both ELL students and non-ell students showed growth over the school year. ELL students exhibit no disadvantage and show the same diversity and range of growth as non-ells.
Leverage powerful reporting to monitor progress over time Exact Path allows you to evaluate the complete progression of academic skills and see how learning develops over time so that you can intervene and differentiate your instruction where appropriate. Get both a big-picture view of performance and an immediate pulse on what s happening right now. View skill-by-skill performance to formulate next steps based on student progress. Leverage comprehensive data views for ongoing parent and stakeholder communications. Drive focused interventions Exact Path helps you understand each individual student so that you can pinpoint areas of weakness, group students according to proficiency levels, deliver meaningful support, and adjust instruction. Identify where your attention is needed the most through built-in notifications. Access a variety of teacher resources, including skills-aligned lessons and activities that can be implemented during targeted intervention time. Leverage built-in teacher tools to create flexible student groupings to track progress and assign additional instruction.
Deliver rigorous, high-quality, age-appropriate instruction Exact Path s assessment-driven learning progression ensures that students are progressing toward their individual learning goals. Engaging lessons and activities are delivered in bite-sized chunks of no more than four skills at a time, and the program includes a variety of student tools for more meaningful learning opportunities. Ensure that students are exposed to a learning experience that is age appropriate and at their precise instructional level. Understand student proficiencies and focus on skill gaps through a precise learning path placement. Provide students with additional in-product support through tools like text-to-speech, translators, highlighters, and easy login for your youngest learners. Set individual student goals and motivate ELLs to move forward Exact Path ensures that students are engaged with age-appropriate learner interfaces no matter their instructional level. n Recognize grit and mastery with teacher-defined motivational challenges. n Award mastery and proficiency with built-in mastery trophies.
