3 Goals for Goal 1 By the end of school, 70% of all students, K-12, will be proficient or advanced in reading. Assessments Smarter Balance Assessment, Alt test/msaa, DRA, Star Reading, Reading plus grades 3-11, DIBELS, Functional Assessments, Surveys, Observations, classroom data Goal 2 By the end of the school, 70% of all students, K-12, will be proficient or advanced in mathematics. Assessment Smarter Balance Assessment, STAR Math, Functional Assessments, Accelerated Math/IXL, Surveys, Observations, classroom data Goal 3 Reportable incidences of bullying will be 5 or less for the school Assessment Student, parent, staff surveys, Safe, Drug, and Gun Free School Data Submission Goal 5 The School District will have a graduation rate 100% for all students for the school. 4 School Responsibilities The Elementary Teachers and Administration will: 1. Provide high-quality and in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State s student academic achievement standards Have high expectations for student achievement. Help all students in their classroom do their best in school. Provide high quality, and to assist students in learning the state standards. Come to school each day with a positive attitude about my students and their families and with well-prepared classroom lessons to assist students learning. Communicate clearly and frequently so that all families understand school programs and their children s progress. Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Show respect for each child and his/her family. Enforce school and classroom rules fairly and consistently. Guide families to monitor their children s homework and to discuss report card grades and academic goals with their children. Arrange ways for parents and other volunteers to use their time and talents to assist my students at school, in my class or at home. 2. Hold parent-teacher conferences bi-annually (fall and spring) during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child s achievement. 3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their children s progress. Report cards are sent home 4 times a, and progress reports are sent home 4 times a. 4. Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Staff will be available for parents, before school, after school, parent teacher conferences twice a, and other meetings arranged through the elementary office. 5. Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child s class, and to observe classroom activities. The August open house will have signup sheets for parents if they would like to volunteer or help with a classroom project. Parent Responsibilities We, as parents, will support our children s learning in the following ways: Send my child to school on time each day with a positive attitude about school and being a student. Encourage my child to work hard and cooperate with teachers and other students. Read notices from the school and communicate with teachers or others about questions that I have. I will see that the missed work is made up, if my child is absent. Check to see that my child completes the homework that is assigned. Encourage my child to discuss homework, class work, report cards grades, and academic goals with me. Volunteer to work at school or at home to conduct activities to assist my child and teacher, class, and community.
5 Instruction by Highly Qualified Staff Elementary School serves students in grades Pre K through sixth grade with a total of 82 students. We have two FTE certified special education teachers. We have 1 certified Title I Coordinator. We have one certified Title 1 teacher.5 FTE/Certified preschool teacher.5fte. We have two Special Education aides at 100% FTE. We have 7 FTE certified elementary teachers. Current Professional Development Plan at the end of the plan. Transition Daycare/Head Start/Kindergarten The School District provides services for children birth to four s of age. We use a child find procedure to identify at risk children in need of services. We have partnership compacts with SDDC as well as NESC who participate in the screening of our students. We also hold a spring screening which includes birth to four--olds. We use the scores on the kindergarten test to alert the Title I and SPED staff as to possible referrals, if a student is struggling with the kindergarten. At screening the incoming kindergarten students get a chance to meet and visit with the kindergarten teacher. The incoming kindergarten students receive a packet that consists of a starting school color book, school tips and a sample of the handwriting for them to practice. At the Kindergarten screening parents will receive information about Kindergarten expectations/schedules. A planning team meeting will be held in May to further extend our transition plan to meet the needs of incoming students. This meeting will include: Roxanne Lamphere Principal, Liz McGuire Kindergarten teacher, Kathy Natwick ICAP/ Head Start or designee, a current parent of a kindergartener, and a Preschool teacher.
6 Monitoring / Evaluation Staff will meet quarterly during early release time to evaluate,, and make adjustments as needed. Questions to be answered are: 1. what is working well that we can build on? 2. What is not working well and needs to be modified or changed? 3. Who is falling through the cracks? Teachers will review student achievement as related to the goals of the School-Wide Plan at the end of each semester. Teachers will pretest students before every unit in ELA and Math to determine which skills students need to review. Teachers will review Smarter Balance Assessment scores to adjust for the next school. Teaching staff will benchmark students fall/winter/spring for evaluation purposes using DIBELS or equivalent tools The staff will evaluate all strategies and actions in the spring/fall and revise as necessary.
