School Wide Rituals and Routines Students will: Follow Central s Discipline Plan the FIRST TIME Be monitored in the hallway during class time restroom breaks Not travel in the hallway during class time unless called to the office Only travel in the hallway during class time for emergencies Take no food/drink into classrooms Use no electronic devises during or in class Not engage in throwing food Rituals and Routines will continue to be taught throughout the year by the administrative staff. Teachers will serve as role models by displaying collaborative, collegial behavior with colleagues, students and parents. 2 IV. Offering Charger Celebrations every 4 ½ weeks during the latter half of the school day ( , , , ). Offering the Charger Break, which is a daily break scheduled only for students designated by their Advisement Teacher. Students who have not been assigned more than two In-school suspensions and one Out-of school suspension will be allowed to participate in the Charger Celebration. V. Behavioral Corrections /Staff Procedures for Referring Students The school has developed the following consequences to assist in consistency. Before referring a student to the office for discipline, all content area teachers are expected to attempt three Behavior Corrections prior to submitting an Office Discipline Referral Form on a student: 1. Warning to Student 2. Teacher Consequence/ Motivational Incentive 3. Counselor Referral 4. (By 9:00 p.m.) Parent Phone Contact/Personal Conference Prior to referring a student to the office, they must see their grade level counselor. The counselor must be contacted and informed of the reason(s) why the student is being referred to the office. The counselor should contact the parent or guardian of the student. The referring teacher should also contact the parent/guardian on the day of the referral (before 9 p.m.) Both correspondences of the counselor and the teacher should be documented to coincide with the referral date. Discipline infractions will be recorded into the tracking system by the Counselor s Secretary. Students who have received disciplinary action more than twice in one month or have accumulated 5 office referrals will be put into the RTI process. The RTI team will begin developing individual plans to address behavioral issues. The team will meet regularly to discuss the effectiveness of changes in the program for each child. Teachers are not expected to attempt the three behavior corrections for serious offenses such as blatant disrespect, walking out of class, skipping class, discharging a fire extinguisher/pulling a fire alarm, fighting, assault, vandalism, profanity, misbehaving in ISS, possession of tobacco/lighting material, possession of a weapon, and sexual harassment. Serious offenses must be referred to an administrator immediately. Once a student has earned his or her way to the office for disciplinary action, the discipline guidelines as outlined below will take effect. These guidelines are meant to be a guide for discipline, and they are not all inclusive. The administration has the final authority for determining the disciplinary assignment for a student.
