Assessments are thorough and functional exploring all areas of a client s life that may be affected by their injury or disorder. Treatment goals are client-focused and aimed toward improving clients home, school and/or work lives.

2 Page 2 of 5 Advocacy for speech-language pathology in the hospitals and community is an important part of the position to ensure that all people that require assistance are aware of the current options available; Assessment and treatment of swallowing and voice disorders including external health provider at hospitals (upon request), nursing homes and community/ home residences; Provide ABI service as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation Therapists, Tutors, Behavioral Consultants, Lawyers and Case Managers; Preparation of Medical-Legal SLP reports as requested by legal representatives; Provide clinical opinion on the future needs and costs of SLP services as requested; Supervision and mentoring of Speech Language Pathology students and new graduates (CASLPO, ASHA); Supervision of Communicative Disorder Assistants and Rehab Assistants; Assist with the data collection for pilot projects; Provide input in to procedures for continuous quality improvement Link with Colleagues working with ABI and support local associations (e.g., Brain Injury Association of Niagara- assisted ABI Survivors with writing their inspirational stories in a published book funded by Trillium, annual 5km corporate run for BIAN); and Clinical Manager responsibilities include daily managerial duties, SLP coaching and goal setting, providing clinical advice and support to fellow SLPs, responding to client feedback, assisting with performance evaluations and responding to client inquiries Clinical Manager, Heaman Communication Services Inc., Uxbridge, Ontario August 2006 February 2009 Professional Practice Leader for Speech Language Pathology providing clinical support to over 40 S-LPs in the GTA; Recruitment & orientation of new clinical staff to the applicable contract, Heaman Communication Services Inc.
