Ofsted will request evidence as part of their inspections that each recruitment panel meets this requirement. Clare Daddy (Headteacher) and Sue Mawson. (Academy Governor) and/or Helen Ray, Julie Brewer (other) have undertaken training in Safer Recruitment training. The DSL ensures that there is always cover for this role including arrangements during academy holidays as follows: - There are 5 members of staff training in child protection 1 DSL and 4 Deputy DSLs. - There is always one of the DSLs on school site during term time. - In school holidays, the DSL and Clare Daddy ( Headteacher) is available Disclosures or information may be received from pupils, parents or other members of the public. The Academy recognises that those who disclose such information may do so with difficulty, having chosen carefully to whom they will speak. Accordingly all staff will handle disclosures with sensitivity. 4 Allegations regarding person(s) working in or on behalf of academy provision (including volunteers) Detailed and accurate records will be made to include decisions, actions taken, and reasons for these. Records of all incidents and concerns about staff will be kept in order that historical patterns can be detected. All records will be retained securely (insert arrangements..) Whilst we acknowledge such allegations, (as all others), may be false, malicious or displaced, we also acknowledge they may be founded. It is, therefore, essential that all allegations are investigated properly and in line with agreed procedures. 5 Curriculum Support for Safeguarding The Academy is committed to ensuring there are opportunities in the academy curriculum, for example through the Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) curriculum and by providing an age-related, comprehensive curriculum, for pupils to be taught about aspects of safeguarding in order to develop the knowledge and skills they need to recognise and stay safe from abuse, including on-line safety Parents /carers are invited to view any resources and discuss any concerns they have over any curriculum content within our PSHE curriculum provision. Arrangements can be made by contacting Clare Daddy PSHE leader in the first instance. Methods of Support for Pupils and Parents The following information is made available to pupils: Posters with Child line numbers 2 pastoral mentors Bully box children can put in concerns about bullying Internet safety lessons half termly. The safeguarding team display- who children can talk to The Academy s arrangements for consulting with and listening to pupils are: Bully Box school council, 2 pastoral mentors PSHCE / circle time assemblies We make pupils aware of these arrangements by: assemblies, in class, notice boards, posters 4 P a g e

6 Partnership with Parents The Academy shares a purpose with parents to keep children safe from harm and to have their welfare promoted. (School may wish to include here any information provided to parents on keeping children safe and how they can report concerns if they are worried a child is at risk of harm e.g. by alerting them to the information for parents on specific websites) We encourage parents to discuss any concerns they may have with class teachers in the first instance. Parents can then contact the year leader or Department Head. Many parents also have positive contact with our Home School Liasion Officers. They are able to share their concerns with our Senior Leaders who will then signpost to the relevant agencies. The Child Protection Policy should be available publicly either via the academy website or by other means. We make parents aware of our Policy by ensuring it is up to date and on our school website. We share a hard copy of the policy through request. Our policy is also on display in the school staff room. Partnerships with other Agencies The Academy recognises that it is essential to establish positive and effective working relationships with other agencies (Insert NEESA (Single Parent Support ) Family Links, Lacho (Eastern Europeann languages), Police, Anti Bullying Alliance, Police to deliver Prevent training and FGM training, Yvonne Sinclaire ( an independent Safeguarding advicer) Childrens services, School Nurse, Travellors Service, Local Childrens Centres. Pupil Information In order to keep children safe and provide appropriate care for them the Academy requires accurate and up to date information regarding names, contact details of those with parental responsibility, emergency contact details, persons authorised to collect child from school, any relevant court orders, care orders etc, CP Plan, contact details of agencies involved with family, GP details etc. The Academy will collate, store and agree access to this information. We are currently in the process of purchasing CPOMs. All our records are kept in a locked drawer. The DSL has ultimate control who has access to this. Any child with CP plans have their own folder, all records are stored together in date order. All other records involving contact details etc. are on SIMS, our on-line system. 5 P a g e
