1 Code: 134 President Abraham Lincoln Elementary Status and Improvement Report Year -04 Focus On Standards Grades K-5 Focus on Standards Description Contents p. 1 p. 1 This Status and Improvement Report has been prepared as part of the Department's education accountability system to provide regular, understandable accounts of our schools' performance and progress, as required by 302A-1004, Hawai'i Revised Statutes. This report describes the school and its setting as well as providing information about the school's administrators, teachers, students and facilities. It also includes a summary of the school's improvement plan, the Standards Implementation Design (SID), that focuses on implementing the Hawaii Content and Performance Standards. This makes for a diverse student population. The school s mission is to provide successful educational opportunities for every child. The vision is to develop students who are literate, lifelong learners who practice respect, responsibility, resourcefulness, and positive relationships. The faculty, staff and administration are committed to making a positive difference in the life of every student. Through effective, standards-based teaching, the students will be able to maximize their potential for successful living. Lincoln offers several support programs to assist all students in meeting the HCPS. Some of those supports include tutoring programs, a reform, research-based math program, and school wide articulation. Lincoln s Family Involvement Committee sponsors activities and workshops in which teachers, students and parents interact within a supportive learning community. Additionally, our Special Events committee sponsors activities like the May Day celebration, Country Fair, Music Festivals and movie nights that help enrich relationships among the school community role groups. 3 Status and Improvement Report Standards Implementation Year -04 Summary of Progress Parameter Inclusiveness Purposefulness Student focused efforts Action oriented Accountability Strong leadership support and systems Extent in place: All faculty members are an active part of the SID planning/process. All stakeholders are invited to discuss and share their opinions regarding the SID via OHANA and SCBM meetings. Information regarding the standards and the SID are shared with parents during Family Center activities (approximately two times a month) and via the school s website. wide learner outcomes and target goals were developed as a school based on pertinent data. These outcomes are embraced by all. A concerted effort is being made during instruction to identify (for students) the goal and standard that is being taught. The school regularly collects and analyzes data (summative and formative) to determine if the students quality of work is adequate. Major actions and decisions are made with regard to student progress. Professional days, monies, and programs are all aligned to the targeted goals of the SID. Support programs identified at risk populations and tried to tailor their services to meet their specific needs. The SID plan focuses on student achievement of the standards (with emphasis on Language Arts and Math). All programs and grade levels follow the SID and have individual SID action plans, which detail how they support the schoolwide SID. All plans are analyzed for effectiveness and revised each year. Multiple types of data are used to determine if the SID targets are being met. Writing pre/post test (all) On The Mark reading test (gr. K-2) HCPS II test (gr. 3-5) Math Problem Solving assessment SDRT, LAS read/write (SPED/ESLL) Classroom assessment data (all) In addition, all teachers are required to keep a document box containing evidence that they are implementing the SID.
