1 House Magazine of Nava Bharat Ventures Limited Vol. 16 No. 2 July September 2010 Award The Company received National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2010 as Excellent Energy Efficient Unit from Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The award, given in the form of a shield and a certificate, was received by Sri N. Prabhakar, Vice President - SD and his team (See Picture 1). This is the fourth consecutive year that our company bagged this prestigious National Award for Excellence in Energy Management, from CII. Picture 1 The Company received Best Technical Efficiency Award from South India Sugarcane & Sugar Technology Association. The award, given in the form of a shield and a certificate, was received by Sri N. Prabhakar, Vice President - SD and his team (See Picture 2). Picture 2 The Management congratulates the employees of Sugar Division for their achievements! The Company was ranked by the Magazine Inc. as 1 st among list of 500 of India's best-performing midsize enterprises for Revenue growth, Net Income growth, Profitability and Returns. Venkatewara Rao, AGM (C&I), Samalkot, for Workmen, in August. Environmental Aspects, conducted by Prof. EUB Reddy, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, for Officers, Staff & Workmen, in August. Maintenance of Transformers, conducted by Sri Sudhakar, PETE Transformers, Hyderabad, for Officers & Staff of Electrical Dept, in August. Demo on PPE, conducted by Sri Rambabu, Karam Safety, Hyderabad, for Workmen, in August. Orissa Works First-Aid Certificate Course, conducted by Dr. P.K. Mohapatra, St. John Ambulance, Dhenkanal, for Staff, in July, August & September (See Picture 3). Prevention of Accident, conducted by Sri Ramesh Kumar Behera, Asst. Director of Factories & Boilers, Dhenkanal, for Officers, & Staff, in July. Picture 3 Emotional Intelligence, conducted by Dr. D.K. Satpathy, Education Officer, Bhubaneswar, for Staff & Workmen, in July. Celebrations Nava Bharat Vocational Institute A Certificate Awarding Ceremony (See Picture 4), was organized on 4 th August, at Paloncha. The 1 st batch of trainees at Nava Bharat Vocational Institute has completed their 6 months training by 31 st July. The local Employers / Contractors have conducted campus interviews, in which all the trainees got placements. The Chief Guest Dr. G. Dharma Rao, Revenue Divisional Officer, Kothagudem, appreciated the efforts put in by the company to impart quality training to the unemployed youth and facilitate 100% placement. Picture 4

3 Independence Day Independence Day was celebrated at all our Units with gaiety on 15 th August. The staff and students of Nava Bharat Schools organized cultural events to show their respect to the nation. Teacher s Day The students of Nava Bharat Schools at Paloncha celebrated Teachers Day on 05 th September. They honoured their teachers and organized a colorful cultural show on this occasion. Ganesh Puja On the occasion of Vinayaka Chaviti, Ganesh Puja was performed on 11 th September in a pandal at Navanagar (See Picture 5). A large number of devotees from the colony and neighboring areas attended the puja and had blessings of Lord Ganesh. Mega Art Carnival Picture 5 On the occasion of Mega Art Carnival titled X pressions, the Parents & Students took part in drawing competitions organized by Nava Bharat Public School on 4 th July (See Picture 6) The Chief Guest Prof. Chatteerjee, appreciated the efforts put in by the company. Picture 6 Plantation A plantation programme was taken up at Haripur Kapilash Road for planting 3500 cashew nut saplings to create awareness on Environment Protection. The programme was inaugurated by Sri Sj. Girish S.N., Collector & District Magistrate, Dhenkanal, (See Picture 7). Sugar Division Day Picture 7 Sugar Division Day was celebrated with Rythu Sabha, attended by 1000 farmers, at Samalkot on 30 th September.

4 Dr. N. Vijayan Nair, Director, Sugar Cane Breeding Institute, Coimbatore, was the Chief Guest. He was felicitated (See Picture 8) by Sri N.Prabhakar, VP-SD at a function organized on this occasion. Dr. P. Venkateswarlu, Professor of Horticulture (Retd.), Dr. N.V.Naidu, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Anakapalli, Dr. K.S.S. Somayajulu, AGM, National Bank of Agricultural & Rural Development, Dr. K. Prasad Rao, Principal Scientist, RARS, Anakapalli and Sri M. Satyanarayana, Asst. Cane Commissioner, were Guests of Honour, who explained various developing technologies and sugar cane cultivation practices. Prizes were distributed to cane growers who achieved highest cane yields. Picture 8 Ananda Jyothi, a club of small, marginal and landless farmers for improving their socio economic conditions was inaugurated by the Chief Guest. Nava Bharat Community College (in affiliation with IGNOU) is being set up at Samalkot as an Integrated Farmer s Service Centre for providing appropriate farming solutions, including soil health care and in-house & on-farm training. This will help rural youth from farming community to develop skills in cultivation of crops like sugar cane. Social Development A rural eye camp for free checkup was organized (See Picture 9) on 5 th & 6 th August at our Orissa Works with the assistance of BKMM Rotary Eye Hospital, Dhenkanal, Orissa. 5 Our company donated 12 sets of desks & benches in July to Sivapur Sevashram ST/SC school (See Picture 10). Cement racks were also provided in hostel of the school. Saplings were planted within the school premises. Smt. Rebati Behera, President, Zilla Parishad, Dhenkanal graced the occasion as Chief Guest and planted a sapling (See Picture 11). Picture 11 Picture 10 Our company has been organizing free tutorials to poor students in villages around Paloncha. Prizes were given to the students who stood first in their respective classes at Sekharam Banjara, Gandhinagar, Jagguthanda and Erragunta on 23 rd & 25 th September. Smt. Vijaya Rani, Mandal Education Officer, gave cash award to the Best Tutor (See Picture 12) Picture 12 We Miss Sri G. Gopinath, Sr. Supervisor (Elect.), at FAP(AP), who expired on 09 th August. Sri U.A.N Murthy, Electrician A Grade, at FAP(AP), who expired on 10 th August. The Management conveys its condolences to the members of the bereaved families!
