4 Detailed information of the South Zone Inter-University Volleyball (Women) Tournament 2018 History The Koneru Lakshmaiah Charities was established as a trust in the year 1980 with its official address at Museum road, Governor pet, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh and started KL College of Engineering in the Academic year The trust was converted into a Society by the name Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation in the year The KL College of Engineering has attained autonomous status in the year 2006 and in February 2009, the Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation Society was recognized as Deemed to be University. In short Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation is named as K L University. Location Vijayawada is located on the banks of river Krishna in the state of Andhra Pradesh and has been historically a cultural, political and educational centre. The city is well connected by National Highway and Rail with Chennai (440 km), Hyderabad (275 km), Vizag (385 km) and is a central junction for trains running from North to South India. Daily flights operate from Hyderabad and Bangalore. K L University is situated in a spacious 100-acre campus on the banks of Buckingham Canal of river Krishna, eight kilometres from Vijayawada city. Built within a rural setting of lush green fields, the institute is a virtual paradise of pristine nature and idyllic beauty. The campus has been aptly named Green Fields and the splendid avenue of trees and gardens bear testimony to the importance of ecology and environment. The campus ambience is most befitting for scholastic pursuits. The University has been situated on a built up area of around 15, 00, 000 S. Ft. The sports activities are taken up at full swing since the inception of the university. The present Vice Chancellor Dr, L S S. Reddy, Registrar Dr T. Umamaheswara Rao and formar Vice Chancellor s of our University have given much emphasis to sports. 1.VENUE OF THE TOURNAMENT: The tournament will be held at KLEF University, This is about 10 kms from Vijayawada Railway Station (Junction) and APSRTC Bus stand. The Vijayawada is well connected by road, Rail and Air. By Air: Vijayawada has a domestic Airport which connects all most all major cities of India. Vijayawada is the biggest city of the Krishna District and third largest city in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The name Vijayawada meaning ``Land of Victory, is derived from the presiding deity, kanaka Durga, also called vijaya. The city is also popular known by the historic name BEZAWADA. 2. HOW TO REACH TOURNAMENT VENUE (K L E F UNIVERSITY) Participating teams are requested to alight at Vijayawada Railway Station (Junction); those who are coming from Trivandrum, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Tirupati, Chennai, Visakhapatnam-direct trains are available from these places. Tournament Venue KLEF University is located about 10 kms from Vijayawada Railway Station and APSRTC Bus stand. The host University is providing Transport to all the players, Team officials from Vijayawada Railway station to tournament venue and back to Railway station, Auto Rickshaws to reach Accommodation/ tournament Venue: Reception counter will function at Vijayawada Railway Station on plat form Noone (1) from October 26th,2018 at 6.00 AM onwards. TOURIST ATTRACTIONS Kanaka Durga temple-one of the most popular temple in Andhra Pradesh. It is located on Indrakeeladri hill overlooking the city as well as the river Krishna. Prakasam Barrage*Gandhi Hill* Victoria Museum * Gunadala Matha Shrine Bhavani Island *Amravati (Historical place of Buddhism and Lord Siva temple)-it is about 40 km from Vijayawada city.

5 GENERAL INFORMATION The South Zone Inter-University Volleyball (Women) Tournament is scheduled from 27th to 31st October 2018, at KLEF University Guntur Dist. Unfurnished accommodation will be provided to the teams. Accommodation will be provided at one day prior to commencement of the tournament. A Caution deposit of Rs.2000/-has to be paid by the team Manager to the Accommodation in charge and the same will be refunded after adjustment of cost of damages, if any. The team Managers meeting will be held at tournament venue i.e. Peacock hall -October 26th, 2018 at 5.00pm. The team Managers/Coaches are requested to attend this meeting. Four copies of the eligibilities of the players duly signed by the Registrar/Director of Physical Education/ Sports officers of the participating University, player`s identity cards & a copy of subscription receipt obtained from AIU, New Delhi should be handed over to the organizing Secretary at the time of registration/arrivals. IMPORTANT NOTE: 1. As per the amendments/modifications in the existing eligibility rules for participation of students in National University Games from the year the participating universities will submit attested photo copies D.M.C of in case of the player is studying in U.G course, for P.G course the copy of the degree certificate to be handover to the organising university duly attested by the competent authority. 2. Tournament/Events will be conducted in accordance with the latest rules of the Volleyball Federation of India as adopted by AIU, New Delhi. 3. The climate during October in Vijayawada is quite pleasant. 4. Officiating/Umpiring charges Rs.1500/- per match shall be charged as per AIU rules/direction. 5. Cosco Super Volleyball is Tournment official ball. 6. Decision of the tournament committee on all matters relating to the tournament shall be final and binding. 7. Organising secretary reserve the right to make any change in the programme. 8. Morning session start at 7.00am and afternoon session start at 2.00pm 9. The teams are requested to fallow strictly the match schedule and should report their teams at least half an-hour before the commencement of the matches at their respective courts. 10. The tournament will be organized on outdoor courts. 11. Kindly confirm your university team participation/withdrawal/if any, on or before 23/10/ Food facility is available in campus & surroundings of the tournament/accommodation venue. Accommodation counter will be arranged at the venue. Team Managers are requested to contact the accommodation In charges at accommodation venue. 13. Team Managers are totally responsible for their players to maintain discipline during competition & stay. 14. Bring your own keys & locks to protect your equipment/belongings. Organizers are not at all responsible for the loss of your belongings/equipment. 15.
