1 September 21, 2018 Dear St. John Families, Thank you to Mrs. Backus and her volunteers for a very successful and fun fall bingo. A special shout out to our awesome callers Mr. Heeter and Mr. Schuler. They provided additional entertainment throughout the night. Starting tomorrow, September 24, look for your Genevieve's catalog to come home with your child. It will be due back on Oct 12. Orders are expected to come in on the week of November 12. Thank you for your support! If you have any questions, contact Melanie Hecht at mlhecht927@gmail.com. Thank you to the Goscha/Andersen, Dorrell, Edwards, Hecht, and DiCocco Families who represented St. John at Faith Fest. It was a beautiful day to gather and join other parishes and schools in celebrating our faith. This is a gentle reminder to please review the uniform policy with your student with special attention to hair, jewelry, and socks. You can access that information by clicking on this link, book pdf, for our online handbook. Please see attached flyers for additional club options. Many blessings, Mrs. Blake Pizza Lunch Volunteers Please consider signing up to help out during our monthly pizza lunches. You can sign up for one month, two or more - whatever your schedule can allow. Your help will be greatly appreciated! The attached sign up contains the dates for all pizza lunches throughout the school year, and we are looking for one more volunteer for our first lunch on Tuesday, September 25. Thank you! 57-sjespirit Beans and Bread This Tuesday, September 25, is our school s Beans and Bread day. We will be collecting bagged lunches again. Please note: Tuesday is Spirit & Pizza Day so even though many children won t be bringing packed lunches for themselves, it would be GREAT if your family could prepare a bagged lunch ahead of time for those less fortunate. bit.ly/beansbreadinstruct Blessing of the Animals On October 4, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, our parish will have a blessing of animals at 6:00 pm in front of the chapel. The school will be collecting animal treats to make goodie bags for all the animals in attendance. Please send your donation to your child s homeroom by Thursday, September 27. Thank you for your support. Catholic High School Fair This year's Catholic high school fair for our geographic area is Wednesday, September 26. It will be held at St. Ursula School (8900 Harford Road in Parkville.) 2 Admissions St. John School s preschool is full for this academic year; we do not expect many openings for the school year so if you have friends, family members or neighbors with preschool age children, please encourage them to apply early. Additionally, due to the size of our fifth grade, we also expect limited seats for 6 th grade in If you know someone considering transferring for middle school, please encourage them to call or Mrs. Eileen Phelps (ephelps@stjohnschoollgv.org) in the school office to schedule a private tour and a shadow date soon. Bring-a-Buddy to School Day Our Bring-a-Buddy to School day will be Tuesday, November 6. This was chosen due to parent feedback earlier this year. Please keep this in mind as you're talking with family, friends and neighbors and encourage their children to come visit. HASA News Genevieve Gift Wrap The kick-off for purchasing gift wrap and products from Genevieve begins September 24. Your ordering information packet will come home with your child on that day. The school receives 40% of the total sales. Please contact Melanie Hecht, mlhecht927@gmail.com, with any questions. Orders are due October 12 and are expected to come in on the week of November 12.
