Zenon Education Centre is accredited by the Department of Education and has been attracting students for its modern methodologies and innovative approaches in teaching Greek as a second language and providing immersion in the Greek culture. 3 Elsternwick: Junior and Middle Schools Chess Thursday 3.30pm pm $ April - 23 June Library Chess is the world s most popular mind sport! It is not only fun to play, but has many educational benefits, such as improved memory, numerical skills, problem solving, creativity, concentration and confidence. Learn tricks and traps to beat your Dad! Hear stories about famous chess players, solve chess puzzles and of course, have fun while playing plenty of chess. Trophies are presented to the top players at the end of every term. Students will have the opportunity to represent Wesley at inter-school tournaments. The program teacher, George, has been playing top level tournament chess for over 25 years and teaching chess for more than 10 years. Limelight Drama School Wednesday 3.30pm pm 20 April - 22 June Music School Classroom N9 Limelight Drama is a performing arts program for ages 3-18 conducted by Olivia Connolly, an actor, writer and producer. She is a founding member of the award- winning theatre company Red Stitch. The program teaches acting terminology and skills, dance choreography and singing. Play building is used where students use their imaginations to create a narrative within a framework and to create characters. There is a performance at the end of every term for parents to attend. Limelight Drama develops confidence, creativity, empathy, social skills, aids in literacy and is a lot of fun! Students are guided by highly experienced teachers who have years of rigorous training. The teacher follows the motto thoughts do not make a person, their attitude and actions define them. Following this motto, students are taught confidence and self awareness. As this confidence grows, an appreciation of traditional karate as a method of personal development begins, where respect, patience, tolerance, temperance, creativity and courage are a must.

4 Elsternwick: Junior and Middle Schools FSA Soccer Wednesday 3.30pm pm $ April - 22 June Big Lawn Football Star Academy (FSA) provides coaching for children teaching them the skills of football (soccer) while having fun with friends. FSA training sessions are carefully structured and designed to provide the most appropriate training for different age groups. Glen Waverley: Junior and Middle Schools Swimming Wednesday & Friday 3.45pm pm $18.00 per lesson 13 April - 24 June Kroger Swimming Pool Our learn to swim program consists of swimming and water safety, with dedicated, qualified and experienced instructors. Certificates are available for children as they complete each level and parents can discuss with the pool deck supervisor the progress of their child, at anytime during the term. La Cantera Soccer Academy Tuesday 3.30pm pm $ April - 21 June Jean James Oval La Cantera Soccer Academy provides professional soccer coaching program to our students. Our program is designed to be an engaging, positive and fun learning experience where players are taught basic and advanced soccer skills including dribbling, passing, shooting and crossing. Sessions are structured in a way that encourages students to work together in teams, problem solve and develop confidence. Gain the skills of problem solving and strategic thinking all through the fun of chess puzzles, opening tricks traps, transfer chess and lightening chess. The class also has opportunities for students to represent the College at inter-school tournaments. There are trophies and prizes to be won.

6 Glen Waverley: Junior and Middle Schools Lego Challenge Thursday 3.30pm to 4.45pm $ April - 23 June M32 Classroom The Young Engineers Lego Challenge is an enrichment program for children between the ages of 5 12 years. We build motorised Lego models using Lego bricks and Lego Technic in each class. Students are taught basic concepts of mathematics and science, while explaining the principles behind the working of the model. We build educational models like amusement park rides, vehicles, buildings and cranes. Students are provided with Lego kits, motor, batteries and visual instructions and we build new models each week. Thursday 3.30pm to 4.45pm $ April - 23 June M27 Classroom RoboLEGO is a robotics program in which students build Lego robotics models using motors, sensors and USB Hub. Wedo Educational Software is used to program the models to perform different functions. This program is suitable for children from Years 3 6. Students are provided with Lego kits, laptops, motors, sensors and batteries. 8 Glen Waverley: Junior and Middle Schools Gymnastics Day: Monday, Tuesday & Saturday Gymnasium Waverley Gymnastics Centre offers fun and challenging gymnastics classes for primary school-aged girls and boys of all abilities. All classes are taken by qualified and registered coaches, in a safe and fun environment, and are designed to increase coordination, flexibility and fitness. 9 St Kilda Road: Junior School Gymnastics The Wesley Lions Gymnastics program caters for primary aged children from Prep upwards. Classes range from beginner/recreational to advanced/competitive in general gymnastics, men s and women s artistic gymnastics and cheerleading. All classes teach basic to complex movement patterns, with emphasis on spatial and body awareness allowing children to develop confidence in their ability to control their bodies while enhancing their coordination, strength and flexibility. Classes are held in the gymnasium at Wesley College, St Kilda Road and is considered one of the best training venues in Victoria. The gymnasium is fully set up with competition standard equipment, including a sprung floor, in-ground trampoline, a foam pit and a variety of learning aids. 10 St Kilda Road: Junior School Chess Tuesday 3.20pm pm Group 1: Beginners Group 2: Advanced $ April - 21 June Library Chess is great for developing strategic thinking skills, improved self-esteem, an increased attention span in class, lateral thinking, teamwork and analytical skills. Join Phil as he teaches the strategies of this great game while setting up a tournament play off. Prizes are awarded at the end of term. Basketball Days: Tuesday, Friday & Saturday Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre Approximately $70.00 per term Wesley Junior Basketball is an additional competitive sporting option for current or enrolled Wesley students from Years 1-6. Teams of between 6 9 players are formed at each year level and can be single sex or mixed. Teams compete in the Playball Competition on Tuesdays (Years 4 6) or Fridays (Years 1 4). They also compete in the Port Phillip Basketball Association competition on Saturday afternoons. Wesley Junior Basketball relies on parent support for team managers and coaches. There are over 18 teams and 200 players so teams fill quickly. Additional Sessions Additional team basketball coaching sessions are also available for Junior School students before school to practise key skills, rules, strategies and sportsmanship. Sessions run once a week on a set day from 7.30am am at a cost of $40 for Term 1 (8 weeks) and there s no need to change out of the school uniform. The sessions are prepaid before the term begins. Entire team commitments are strongly encouraged to build on team play. Registration forms are available at Reception. 11 Important Information Enrolments Please ensure that you have registered your child before they attend any After School Programs. This allows the provider adequate time to prepare staffing requirements. Late pick up All students who are not collected by parents from their after school class will be taken to Aftercare. As this is run by an external provider, Extend, we encourage all children to be registered in the event that you are late to pick up your child. If your child needs to go to Aftercare, you will be charged the relevant fee for the service.
