The bag should be of a sober colour and should not demonstrate an extreme of style. When purchasing a bag, consideration should be given to appropriate load bearing for the age and size of the pupil, given that pupils will sometimes have to carry equipment for a maximum of three subjects at any one time. Bags should also be clearly labelled. Many bags contain name plate holders but these are somewhat vulnerable to wear and tear; instead, we recommend that the large nametape that is used for household items (for example, for duvets and towels) should be used. One of the large nametapes can be either sewn onto the bag itself in a prominent and visible position or sewn around a handle. 5
7 Sew-On Name Tapes All clothing, including home clothes must be labelled. We strongly advise that sew-on name tapes are ordered, as soon as possible. During the busy months, it can take up to 6 weeks for delivery. We recommend using Woven Labels UK (T: +44 (0) E: All of your child s clothing and equipment must be identified with your name and House letter (please note that Gownboys is G and Girdlestoneites is X ). For girls, this is the academic House, not the Hall of Residence. Please sew these inside each piece of clothing. Please note that Matrons will not accept IRON ON tapes. Instructions for ordering on the Woven Labels UK website School Labels for all Clothing Please use small nametapes. Example: JOHN SMITH B 1. Go to top left tab School Labels 2. Select Woven Sew-On Name Tapes 3. Fill in details on the right of the page: a. Name and House letter b. Lettering style 1 c. Black lettering only d. White background e. NO motifs 4. Quantity: we recommend 144 name tapes for Fourth Form and 72 name tapes for new Specialists. Large Labels for Household Items and School Bags For all duvets, pillowcases and towels please use 1 inch woven ID tags. Please sew these on the outside near the opening. Example: R. THOMAS W 1. Go to top left tab School Labels 2. Scroll down and select 1 Inch ID Tags 3. Fill in details on the right of the page: a. Name and House letter-capitals only b. Black letters c. White background d. Name and House letter-capitals only 4. Quantity: We recommend 16 large labels for all new pupils (Fourth Form and Specialists). Please then follow the website instructions for payment and delivery to complete your order. Alternatively, the School Shop will place the order for you. Please download the order form from the School website, complete it and return to the School Shop. Orders will be subject to a administration, postage and packaging charge. Some additional nametapes should be given to the Matron so that any items purchased during the Quarter can immediately be marked. 6
8 Stationery The School Shop supports the educational and sports activities of the School by providing a full range of stationery, text books, revision aids, uniform and sportswear and also offers a wide range of services. Greetings cards, toiletries, stamps, book tokens, postcards, mobile phone top-ups and essential items of stationery are available at all times to the pupils and staff of the School. Each pupil will have his or her private account, onto which items can be charged with the consent of the Housemaster, Tutor or Matron. Stationery Requirements for Fourth Form We expect all Fourths to come to School equipped with at least the following items, along with a suitable pencil case: Fountain pen Ballpoint or other pens in a selection of colours including blue and black Pencils and sharpener Rubber A set of highlighter pens A set of coloured pencils or pens A calculator - Casio FX 85GT Plus (solar or battery) is recommended A geometry set to include a 15 / 30cm ruler, a compass and a protractor Any further stationery items required can be purchased in the School Shop. These packs will be charged to the pupil s School bill. 7
