2 Primary School Sports Premium Impact Report 2017/18 Number of pupils and pupil premium grant (PPG) received Total amount of Sports funding received 19,500 Nature of support 2017/18 Funding is to be allocated to the following areas: Actual Amount Spent. To ensure pupils have access to outstanding PE opportunities. All children in Y3-Y6 have had sessions in Outdoor and Adventurous Activities. Y3 have had 4 Tennis sessions. Y4 have had 4 Tag Rugby sessions. Y5 and Y6 have had sports hall athletics, Tag Rugby, Basketball and table tennis. School Sports Partnership SLA Aly ( 1000) Entry to Darlington SSP competitions and festivals, PE network access, School Games day. 1,000 The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity kick-starting healthy active lifestyles. To enable all children in Y5, as well as children from Y2, 3, 4 and 6 have the opportunity to represent the school in festivals and competitions. Competitions attended: 30 x Y2 = QuadKids athletics. 8 x Y3 = Tennis- reached the finals. Y4 = Tag Rugby Y4 = Quad Kids Y4 = Community Games Y5 = Tag Rugby Y6 = Tri Golf Y6 = Sports Hall Athletics Track and field athletics Cross country Hockey Football Gymnastics reached the finals in KS1, LKS2 and UKS2. Achieved Gold in KS1. UKS2 and bronze in LKS2. The PE coordinator has attended several network meetings, knowledge gathered from these meetings will be used to enhance PE and sport going forward.

3 All pupils (Y1-Y6) spend 30 minutes with Judo Dan. Pupils attending Destination Judo as a result. Supply cover to allow JT to attend CPD, PE conference and Subject Leader training. ( 1000) 1,000 PE conference. 6 ½ sessions for subject leader meetings. Cover for staff to attend competitions. Sedgefield SSP SLA CPD, in school support, access to specialist coaching for staff development. ( 2,500) 2,500 PE coordinator refreshed and reskilled. Whole PE curriculum and PE department overhaul- ready to move on with continuing improvements. High Quality Coaching PE Teaching Support Menu of CPD Data Analysis and Reports PE Health check completed April Action plan updated to take into account areas for improvement. Whole school CPD for using Core Tasks for planning, lesson delivery and assessment. Training sessions for NQTs- using the core tasks to plan a scheme of work. Dance CPD for all teachers from Y1-Y6. 6 week block for each teacher observing expert teacher, planning alongside and teaching alongside expert. Specialist support for PE coordinator to plan LTP, review assessment tool for PE and update PE

4 policy. Specialist Gym Coaching ( 1,900) 2 hours per week. 1,900 Sessions will be carefully planned and delivered to ensure all end of year expectations for gymnastics are taught. Staff will have the opportunity to observe, team teach and then group teach- building confidence to teach the next sessions independently. Gym teaching will expose staff and children to the expertise of qualified coaches- increasing staff confidence in teaching gymnastics sessions. All staff have had a 6 week block working alongside specialist Gym coach. Extension of extra-curricular offer ( 1,900) Gym Club- including 1 hour after school every week for the whole year and competition preparation. Dance Club- 1 hour every Friday lunchtime every week for the whole year and Dance festival preparation. 3,330 Gym coaching will allow the continued success of our gym team- developing children s skills and teacher/ta confidence. Change 4 Life club children KS2 and Energy club children KS1 will have the opportunity to work with Alison to increase their participation in physical activity. Children showcase their skills, share with others and model warm-ups/ skills sessions in PE lessons. Dance club will expose staff and children to the expertise of qualified coaches- increasing staff confidence in dance lessons. G + T program for Gymnasts- Gym team very

5 successful- KS1, LKS2 and UKS2 teams all won their heats and went through to the finals. KS1 and UKS2 won gold medals in the finals and LKS2 won silver medals. 20 children have attended gym club, with 5 new members to be trialed in September. 16 Y3 children took part in Darlington Schools Dance Festival, performing in front of an audience of 200+ The gym team and each year group performed their dance to the whole school and parents at the Sports Achievement Assembly in July Active 30. Training and equipment to introduce 30 minutes of physical activity daily. 1,000 Active 30 course- supply cover + cost of course. Equipment for active playtimes. Supply cover for JT to hold Sports Crew meetings and training. Equipment to allow high quality teaching of PE. 650 Curriculum resources purchased to allow HQ teaching of PE. Purchase of Fizz and Friends to EYs Used by EY to deliver PE and physical development.

6 Introduction of after school football club led by Darlington Football Club. ( 450) 400 Sessions will be carefully planned and delivered by specialist football coaches from Darlington Football Club. Some PP children will have the opportunity to experience football coaching, match day experience and being involved in a team, developing a sense of belonging. 30 children from Y3-6 took part in the afterschool football club. Football Equipment ( 400- Mr Todd) 445 To enable Mr Todd to start a football club to be able to take part in competitions within the trust and with other schools in the town. 20 girls attend girls football club on a Monday night. 26 boys attend boys football on a Thursday night. They have entered several competitions within the MAT and across the town. Netball equipment. ( 200 -Miss Worth) 230 To enable Miss Worth to start a netball club to be able to take part in competitions within the trust and with other schools in the town. Netball club takes place weekly with Y5 and Y6. We took part in the Darlington Schools Plate competition and are excited to join the netball league nest year. Presentations and Assemblies to celebrate Sports Achievement ( 150) Trophies, costumes, extra coaching. 400 Increased participation in extra-curricular activities- promoting healthy active lifestyles. These events present sport in a very positive light and provides the children with aspirations and builds self- esteem as well as recognising the success of various teams or individuals. Presentations to parents and pupils demonstrate the school s commitment to sporting success. 120 parents and all of KS2 were invited to be

7 involved with the assembly, watching performances of: Gym display, Y2, Y3, Y4 and Y6 dances. They also helped celebrate PE and sport, watching 34 children receive awards in 14 different sports. This raises the profile of physical activity and sport at Northwood. Mini Bus transport to competitions ( 1,200) 2,000 For the whole of Y5 and children from different year groups to attend festivals and competitions and have the honor and opportunity to represent their school. Some children have gone on to represent the town in different events. Equipment to ensure all children have the opportunity to take part in PE sessions. 200 Extra PE kit bought- each class has a bag of 4 extra PE kits. Extra swimming kit- swim suits, trunks, caps, towels. Shin pads. Repairing of hockey sticks. Repairing of apparatus. This has ensured inclusion of all children who might not have the required kit. Extended sport opportunities ( 300) Yoga Bugs Day. 400 All children to have the opportunity to take part in a sport that they might not otherwise experience. To promote and encourage club links. All children from morning and afternoon nursery to Y6 have had a 30 minute Yoga session. All children thoroughly enjoyed these sessions, many asking to do yoga again at school, asking for a yoga after school club and asking to be signposted to clubs.
