Dear Parents and Carers, As week three draws to a close I am amazed at how fast and furious the term has started! The students from Year s 3 to 6 are to be congratulated on their tremendous efforts throughout swimming lessons. These conclude on Friday. Yesterday was Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday as known by the students of St Patrick s enjoyed a feast of pancakes. Thank you to the parents who helped in the classrooms and /or provided pancakes for the children. The sticky fingers and happy faces were a testament to the quality of the pancakes! Yummy!! Today we come together to mark the beginning of Lent with an Ash Wednesday prayer service. Lent is an important time of preparation for Easter. It is a time for reflection and restoration of relationships. Especially our relationship with God. You will notice the liturgical colour changes to purple, the colour of waiting. The class prayer tables will have purple cloths and the Religious Education units will begin to prepare the students for an understanding of Lent and Easter. During this time, our charity focus is Project Compassion. Your child will be bringing home their box today. Please give what you can to support those who are less fortunate than ourselves. For further information, the Caritas website offers some excellent insight into Project Compassion. The first class assembly for 2018 will be run by the Year 2/3 class with a bit of help from the Year 6 leaders. The assembly will be held in the hall at 2:30pm on Friday 23 rd of February. Don t miss it!! P & F Sundowner: I can t think of a nicer way to end the week than by gathering as a school community having fun and fish burgers!! Thank you to the P & F for organising this event. Children are not permitted to arrive at school before this time. Board Snippets The school board welcomes all staff and students to the school for 2018, especially those new to the school. Exciting news out of our first board meeting centres on our planned redevelopment of the school oval. Our new plans involve new paths, walkways and nature playgrounds, and we hope to commence work early this year!!!! We may call on volunteers at some time to help supply and/ or help when building a nature play area...watch this space. Other news out of the meeting is that all board positions will remain as per last year, with the three positions unopposed. This means Sheldon Kowald is treasurer, Gail Butterworth is secretary and I will remain as Chairperson. Regards, Simon Kerin

Children without hats must play in the covered areas. GIRLS: Summer dress, brown sandals (no socks) OR black school shoes with short white school socks. BOYS: Grey College shorts, short sleeve grey shirt with logo, grey school socks with blue and gold with lace up black school shoes or, brown sandals (no socks). PLEASE NOTE No Jewellery (signet rings, chains etc.) / Friendship bands, necklaces / ankle chains etc. are permitted at school. If children have pierced ears, only small studs or sleepers are to be worn. Hair past collar length MUST be tied back (boys and girls). Blue, white or gold hair ties only, are to be worn. Nail polish is NOT permitted. God s Promise The Word: God said to Noah, I am making a promise with you and your descendants. Never again will the world be destroyed by a flood. As a sign of this promise I am putting my rainbow in the sky. Whenever the rainbow appears, I will remember my promise to you. Look Closer- A Story: At this time last year, I was feeling resentful. When things went wrong, I would look for someone to blame. It felt like every day was gloomy with dark rain clouds. So I gave up blame and resentment for Lent! After a week I began to feel better, Instead of feeling gloomy and irritable like rain clouds, I felt peaceful like a rainbow after a storm. Your ways O Lord, are love and truth to those who keep your covenant. Teach us to follow your paths and to walk in your truth. Amen. Faithful Noah, pray for us.
