The registration for the new batch of BTech students begins on 20 th July, However, for your convenience the Counselling Service Team (CST) and/or staff of the institute will be present at Help Desks set up at the city Railway Station and Airport from the afternoon of 18th July, 2011 till the morning of 20 th July, Upon your arrival please locate the Help Desk. Please keep your Offer Letter and JEE Admit Card at hand so that the staff of the Institute and/or student guides of CST can verify your identity and co-ordinate your journey to the hostels/institute. The students can start settling in from the 19th of July in the hostels of IIT Bhubaneswar. Strictly note that, parents/guardians are not allowed to reside in the hostel rooms along with their wards. Important : It is recommended that you give a prior information about your arrival through at least 5 DAYS before your arrival to helpdesk.iitbbs@gmail.com. For hotel information or any other information also, please at the aforementioned id. The registration would be done in the following steps: 1.) Upon arrival, the student will be taken to the hostel and registered there. They will be allotted their respective rooms and are allowed to move in. 2.) On 20 th July, buses will ply to the institute where students will complete their registration. We strongly discourage parents/guardians from staying back beyond the first day. Counselling Service Team and Faculty advisors will guide and help the students throughout their stay. SUGGESTED THINGS TO BE BROUGHT BY THE STUDENTS 1. Bed sheets and curtains 2. Scientific calculators The following can be bought in the hostel itself: 1.Buckets, Soaps, Toiletries, Etc. 2. Note Books, pens, Etc.

2 NOTE: Institute will provide mattresses and pillows. So, you need not bring them. Reference books are provided in the library, but students can bring their own reference books as per their needs. Laptops are permitted for first year students but it is not a necessity in the first semester itself. Miscellaneous: For obtaining merit-cum-means scholar ship, one has to carry with them any one of the following: 1) For Salaried Class (either Govt. /Private): Salary Certificate of their parent(s) for the Financial Year with proper attestation. 2) For Non-salaried Class : An Annual income Affidavit for the financial year and an Income Tax Return as applicable for the year ) For Pensioners: Annual Pension Payment Certificate for the year Note: Documents required for registration are mentioned in the main website. HOW TO ARRIVE? In case you fail to correspond with the Help desk please observe the following directions: Institute Address (IITKGP/Samantapuri Campus) IIT BHUBANESWAR Samantapuri (Rear side of Hotel Swosti Plaza) Bhubaneswar Bhubaneswar is well connected by direct train and flight services to most major cities of the country. The Institute is about 15 minutes drive (~8 km) from the Bhubaneswar Railway station and 20 minutes drive (~12 km) from the Bhubaneswar BijuPatnaik Airport. Private/Pre-paid taxi can be hired to reach the Institute. From Biju Patnaik Airport to IITBBS Mode of Travel: Private/Pre-paid Autos Distance ~ 12 kms Approx.
