2 Introduction The DfE sports funding has continued to be used flexibly to meet a number of priorities in the teaching and learning of Physical Education and sport. Across the academic year pupils in from Years 1 to 6 have received half a term of professional coaching from Premier Sport in archery, cricket and boxing. DfE funding was also used to ensure the academy s participation in the following events during the summer term: Cross Country Relay Sportshall Athletics Mini-basketball Tournament Dodgeball tournament Table Tennis Tournament Swimming gala Year 4 Girls Football festival Years 5 & 6 Girls Netball tournament Year 5 Quadkids athletics Years 4 & 5 Cricket Festival Years 5 & 6 Dodge ball Festival Year 6 Rounders Festival Following the success of the team participating in the mini-basketball tournament, three pupils from Year 6 have been selected for the Nottinghamshire County squad. Ambleside were able to enter five out of the seven tournaments offered by Nottingham city during the autumn term in a number of sports such as dodgeball and table tennis where the school had never participated previously. This has presented an opportunity for a number of pupils to excel at a new sport and continue to do this after the event. In order to improve curriculum provision, there has been an increase in after school clubs to improve overall fitness of pupils. The resources as outlined in the funding report were purchased by the PE subject leader. This has enabled the school to increase its physical education afterschool clubs for all year groups to eight overall with 160 pupils attending in total. The PE team are currently investigating creative ways of using space available for PE and sport through obtaining quotes to partition the sports hall, this will enable the school to carry out 2 sessions simultaneously both during the school day and after school. Ambleside were able to enter 11 tournaments during the Summer term in a number of sports such as cricket and netball where the school had never participated previously. This has presented an opportunity for a number of pupils to excel at a new sport.

3 In order to improve curriculum provision, there has continued to be an increase in after school clubs to improve overall fitness of pupils. The Physical Education team have arranged in joint partnership with the City Council to partition the sports hall with a dividing net which will be installed in July, this will enable the school to carry out 2 sessions simultaneously both during the school day and after school. After-school club participation has increased; comparing The increase in participation Autumn 2013 with Autumn Eight afterschool clubs now available, an increase of 50%. Numbers of pupils participating rates in such activities as have increased to 160. The PE team are now keeping detailed games, dance, gymnastics, records to monitor this. swimming and athletics Neill Gregg, who leads the Physical Education team had a meeting with the L.A. provider to discuss Swimming Provision & costings for 2015/2016. New Swimming provision for 2015/2016 will continue to swim at Lenton Swimming Baths in Years 1, 5 & 6 will swim for half term

4 with Y3/4/5 now swimming for full term to increase provision and make more progress in swimming. A review of swimming attainment and progress is currently being undertaken by NG. Premier Coaching have continued to provide additional PE in Y3 and Y4 (Archery), Y5 (Cricket) and Boxercise to Y6 classes. Although not directly funded by DfE money, the following afterschool clubs were offered to pupils. These clubs have benefitted from the resources purchased with DfE funding earlier in the year: Mon Y4/5 Netball Mrs Crouch/ Miss Groves Y4-Y6 Summer Mr Marks Sports Tues Y4/5 Running Miss Blaisdale Y3 All Stars + Y6 Sports Leaders Miss Groves/Mr Marks Wed KS2 Fitness Fun Miss Groves Thurs Y5/6 Tag Rugby Miss Evans/Miss Grove Fri Y4/5 Basketball Mr Gregg Y4-Y6 Cricket Mr Steane The increase and success in competitive sports A review of After-school club provision is to be undertaken by the PE team during the latter part of Summer term to determine which clubs would be provided during 2015/ No team entered Swimming Gala. Ten Y4/5 pupils entered swimming gala competed against Y6 pupils. No event held Y4 Girls Football Festival, 10 girls attended played 6 friendly 5-aside matches. Y5/6 Girls Football Team played at City ground to celebrate Nottingham City of Football. Y6 Boys Football No team entered No team entered City Champions in Tag Rugby Team finished runners-up in league. Y5/6 Girls Netball tournament. A team of ten Y4-Y6 girls played in Y6 tournament for first time. Y5 Quadkids athletics; ten pupils competed in heats. Finished 5 th /8 teams; 1 girl finished 4 th in individual competition. 12 Y5/6 pupils finished 2 nd in qualifying tournament; playing in Finals on 24 th June 2015 City Champions in 12 KS2 SEND pupils competed in Boccia competition on 17 th June 2015, finished 3 rd. No team entered Y4/5 Cricket Festival on 29 th June Y5/6 Dodgeball Festival on 1 st July 2015.

5 Y6 Rounders Festival being held at Ellis Guilford sometime in late July In September 2014, Mr Marks now timetabled to offer inclusion sports to targeted SEND pupils. All after-school clubs have representative % of SEND pupils. Increasing how inclusive the physical education curriculum has become Miss Groves has been delivering SEND targeted PE during the Summer term to a group of KS2 pupils ranging from Y3-Y6. Several TA support staff have been involved in these lessons. All after-school sports clubs and sports teams are inclusive. Several high profile children (with behavioural difficulties on SEND spectrum) have represented the school in swimming, tag rugby, athletics and Boccia during the Summer term. All after-school clubs have representative % of SEND pupils. Netball, hockey, table tennis, dodgeball and handball have all been introduced. The growth in the range of provisional and alternative sporting activities The improvement in partnership work on physical education with other schools and local partners New sports introduced to school PE curriculum during the Summer term Archery (Y3/4 pupils), Boxercise (Y6 pupils) delivered by external coaches from Premier Coaching. Quadkids Athletics coaching by Mr Marks to Y5 G&T pupils athletes compete in four disciplines (50m sprint, 400m run, standing long jump and howler javelin plus a team relay 5 x 50m). Following opportunities provided by the funding, the school now has links with the following partners: Oakfield Special School Sports Academy. NYBC Basketball Club offers pupils external opportunity for basketball development based at Ellis Guilford. Aspley Park Football Club Bramcote Netball Club Nottingham Nova Mini-basketball Trinity Table Tennis A wide range of schools both within the city and county Ambleside Primary hosted its first ever basketball tournament. Eight teams from 6 primary schools competed on 14th May in round-robin group games and play-off matches. Ambleside entered two teams A team finished 3rd overall and B team finished 5th overall. Mr Ian Curryer, Chief Executive Officer of Nottingham City Council presented awards together with Mr Jimmy Smith. Halfords gave a Bicycle Care workshop to 30 Y6 pupils as part of their transition programme from primary to secondary school in recognition that many pupils may choose to cycle to their secondary schools. School has registered an interest in the Nottingham City Bikeability programme to train Y5/6 pupils how to cycle safely

6 Links with other subjects that contribute to pupils overall achievement and their greater social, spiritual, moral and cultural skills The greater awareness amongst pupils about the dangers of obesity, smoking and other such activities that undermine pupils health looking to provide this course sometime in 2015/16 if places on scheme. Through using DfE sports funding to enable pupils to experience a wider range of sports and competitions, team work, interdependence and independence skills have all been enhanced. Pupils have the opportunity to interact with children and adults from across the county. All children across the school have received extra coaching that promotes areas such as exercise and healthy eating This has raised awareness amongst children as well as actively promoting a healthy lifestyle for all. This compliments other areas of school where we address such issues. The Team Notts. programme targeted at inactive and overweight pupils was unfortunately not as successful as we had envisaged. The same pupils are now participating in our own Fitness Fun club delivered by Miss Groves. The Team Notts. programme was a free initiative and there was no use of DfE money. Ten Y4/5 pupils entered swimming gala competed against Y6 pupils. Best achievement was a 3rd place by a Y5 girl in 50m backstroke. Won 2, drew 1, lost 3 of six matches Y5/6 Girls Team played at City ground to celebrate Nottingham City of Football. Y6 Boys Football Team finished runners-up in league. Y5/6 Girls Netball tournament. A team of ten Y4-Y6 girls played in Y6 tournament for first time. Finished 7th overall. Y5 Quadkids athletics; ten pupils competed in heats. Finished 5th/8 teams; 1 girl finished 4th in individual competition. 12 Y5/6 pupils finished 2nd in qualifying tournament; playing in Finals on 24th June KS2 SEND pupils competing in competition on 17th June 2015.
