To emphasize on spiritual growth and moral education. School Management Organisation: Approved by the Education Bureau, The Incorporated Management Committee (IMC) of Lock Tao Secondary School was established in 2007 in order to undertake schoolbased management and promote quality education. Opinions of all the stakeholders are collected through regular school meetings, PTA meetings and Student Association meetings. Through the supervision of the Principal and Assistant Principals and the collaboration of all administrative committees, school policies are implemented. Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee/ Management Committee: Please refer to our school website. School Green Policy: Our school promotes environmental protection policy to establish a green campus. Apart from formal teaching students knowledge about the environment, our school also encourages students to participate in green activities such as No Airconditioner Day and Switch off the Light Campaign. In 2009, our school received the Environment and Conservation Fund to build a rooftop garden to cultivate a green campus. The solar power system for applying collected solar energy in the school lighting system is being installed. With the Environment and Conservation Fund, we installed all energy saving lights (T5), Grade 1 Energy Label room coolers, LED exit signs and rooftop heat insulation coating in Learning and Teaching Plan Wholeschool Language Policy: Our school uses Chinese as the Medium of Instruction. We have Putonghua groups in junior forms offering Putonghua as the Medium of Instruction in Chinese Language. Extended English learning activities are integrated in Junior Secondary Integrated Science and Mathematics curricula. Funded by Project WeCan and Quality Education Fund, our school has set up the Campus TV, English Band and English Kitchen to promotion language learning. In addition, the school sets up an English Activity Centre and English Award Scheme, organizes English Ambassador Training Programme, English Campus Reporters, English Day, English News Sharing in Morning Assembly, English Morning Reading Session and Chinesewide and Englishwide Reading Scheme, English Day Camp (coorganize with external NET Association) and encourages students to join Chinese, Putonghua and English Speech Festival to help students develop bilingual triliterate skills. Learning and Teaching Strategies : Our school implements the Senior Secondary Curriculum through different schemes like, Assessment for Learning (AfL) in major subjects and Afterschool Learning Support Scheme to foster learning and teaching effectiveness and cater for individual differences. Our selfdeveloped Tracking for Success System, which aims to display students' learning progress and outcomes, is highly recognized by students, parents and educators. Our school also incorporates Multiple Intelligence Periods in Junior Form Curriculum in order to develop students' potentials,and generic skills and to guide students to conduct Outbound Investigation Project systematically through the collaboration of different subjects. Schoolbased Curriculum: 1. Electives: 2X There are two elective blocks that offers four to five electives in each block in which students can choose one elective from each block. To cater for individual differences, teachers design school based and afterschool learning support scheme based on students abilities and needs. 2. To help students learn outside classrooms, Multiple Intelligence Periods and Lifewide Learning Periods are implemented in Junior and Senior Forms. Via visits, field trips, camps and service learning, it is hoped that students could be exposed to different learning experiences by aligning study and life, aiming to develop students generic skills and enrich Student Learning Profile (SLP). 3. The school nominates students to apply for Senior Secondary Applied Learning (ApL) Courses, allowing some Secondary 5 and 6 students to be exposed to different areas of studies and take practical or careerrelated courses such as Aviation Studies, Practical Accounting for SMEs, Jewellery Arts and Design, Hotel Operations and Radio Host Presentation Skills. Development of Key Tasks : To foster students' reading habits and selflearning skills, our school has book recommendations by teachers, reading group, book fairs, talks by writers and morning reading sessions. Through Lock Tao Ambassadors Service Scheme, Class Periods, Morning Assembly News Sharing and Outbound Learning, students' social awareness and recognition of their citizenship could be enhanced. Multiple Intelligence Periods are incorporated in the Junior Secondary Curriculum to activate students' potentials and develop students' learning abilities systematically via Projectbased Outbound Learning with collaborations of different subjects. Life Planning: Starting from junior forms, our school provides different life planning and career guidance activities, including workshops, visits, talks, individual counselling and Life Planning Course, for students in order to guide students to have better understanding of their characters, interests, strengths and weaknesses as well as to develop their potentials. These activities not only can widen their horizons, but also allows them to learn more about the workplace and to enhance their selfconfidence. It is hoped that students can plan ahead and set clear goals for their studies and career. Student Support Whole School Approach to Catering for Student Diversity: 1. To tailormake schoolbased core and extended to cater for students with different learning abilities. 2. To enhance learning and teaching effectiveness as well as the professional development of teachers, our school has joined the 'Quality School Improvement Project : Support for Learning Diversity' provided by the Chinese University of Hong kong. 3. To implement different types of Award Schemes like 'Lock Tao Award Scheme', 'Star of the Month' and 'Best Improvement Award' to encourage students of different abilities to learn conscientiously. 4. To cater for individual differences, small class teaching and smallgroup streaming are implemented in Chinese, English and Mathematics. 5. To promote a caring Culture in the campus, biclassteacher system, 'Peer Mentoring Scheme' and 'Caring Ambassadors Scheme' are incorporated. 6. To cater for learning needs in Chinese, English and Mathematics, 'Afterschool Learning Support Scheme' is established. 7. To nominate students to join university programmes targeted at gifted students. Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment: There are two examinations and one test each academic year. Our school emphasizes continuous and diverse assessment methods. Through assignments, projects, classroom performance and skillbased tests, students learning performance and effectiveness in different learning periods will be assessed. Our school also actively cultivate Assessment for Learning to provide immediate feedbacks to students, aiming to enhance learning and teaching effectiveness. Our school policy matches with HKEAA s requirements in the Quality Assessment Management Accreditation Scheme and is being awarded the Quality Assessment Management Accreditation. 4 HomeSchool Cooperation and School Ethos HomeSchool Cooperation: Our ParentTeacher Association (PTA) was established in In order to promote the homeschool cooperation, a variety of activities, including Parents workshops, talks and family gatherings, have been organized. Parent volunteers have also been formed for providing extra supports to our school. To have a better understanding on students school performance, Parents Days have also been held regularly. Through active participation, a better teacherstudent and parentchild relationship can be developed. School Ethos: Our students are humble and abide by school rules. A full time school chaplain serves in our school to provide pastoral care to students and foster their spiritual development. Biclassteacher system aiming at providing more care and support to students is employed in each class so as to allow students to have a richer school life by joining different activities and competitions. All junior forms students are required to have lunch at school. Different schemes and awards are offered, including 'Stand by Me Scheme', I Can Do It Scheme, 'Helping Others Scheme', 'P.A.T.H.', 'Grow New Impetus', 'Caring Ambassador Scheme' and so on in order to activate students' potentials and enhance their confidence. Our school has received 'Caring School Award' organised by Education Bureau and HK Christian Service for several years. Future Development School Development Plan: 1. Enhance both learning and teaching through exploring and utilizing resources from external organisations and the collaboration with different universities Teacher Professional Training and Development : Since 2007, our school has been working with The University of Hong Kong and started the School University Partnership Scheme in order to promote teacher professional development. Apart from different workshops, peer lesson observation has been highly promoted for a better teaching enhancement. Extracurricular/Cocurricular Activities Our school has set up a variety of clubs and interest groups (sports and recreation, uniform groups, social services, academic accomplishment, leisure interests, religious and spiritual education, culture and arts) for students to choose. All S1 students are arranged to different uniform groups and required to take part in the 'CYC Award Scheme' in order to receive disciplinary training and realize their social responsibilities to serve the society. Moreover, 'Multi Intelligence Learning' and 'LifeWide Learning' are being promoted and integrated in the class periods for fostering more cross learning opportunities, exploring students' potentials and cultivating their different generic skills. Through the above activities, a quality student learning portfolio can then be developed. School Facilities School Facilities: The establishment of the New Wing provides sufficient space for implementing smallclass teaching, smallgroup teaching and diverse learning activities. New facilities include Computer Room, ComputerAssisted Learning Room, Student Activity Centre, Language Lab, Multimedia Room, Band Room, Campus TV Studio, Career and Guidance Counselling Room, English Activity Centre and Religious Activity Room. Facility Support for Students with Special Educational Needs: Ramp, Accessible lift and Accessible toilet.
