To encourage the less active children to take part and still encourage the more active children to learn more and practise. To offer quality CPD for all teachers in the school for PE in different areas and to have the opportunity to team teach with the coach. To offer an after school club to access as many children. The amount of children to benefit from this will be the whole school 224 children, plus 7 teachers. The sports coaches have made the lunch time provisions more controlled and organised by introducing sports. All children of all ages and abilities are thought of and taught through differentiation. The children get to Lunch time club has been very successful throughout the year. The children are stimulated and engaged throughout the whole of lunch play. They take part in different sports and activities and these are suitable for all ages ranges and abilities. Less active children have been encouraged to take part as well, this is also includes the younger children taking part also. We have also had premier sports in to teach 2 lessons of PE each Wednesday for either PPA cover or CPD for Teachers and also offering an after school club. The lessons have been taken by Dean Crandley who has progressed greatly throughout the year. He has achieved good lesson observations, taken on board and used the new behaviour policy effectively. He has learnt the children s names in years 1-6 and got to know the children well. He has taken on board any suggestions by staff and staff have equally learnt new skills, activities or ways of teaching different sports. This is something we have agreed to carry on in the next academic year. He has also delivered great after school clubs as well. All the of the clubs he has run this year have been fully booked. His strongest after school club has been gymnastics where he offers a very professional club. The children have really enjoyed this club.

2 experience and learn more focused skills for different sports such as basket ball, football, hockey and netball. The sports coach we have in for CPD on a Wednesday has delivered a range of lessons from gymnastics, football, dance and football. We have been able to learn different ways to teach the sports, differentiation and how to introduce skills. This has increased the children s and the staff and their enthusiasm to teach the sports and has seen an increase in children taking up sports. Approx 700 Yoga sessions for year 6. To allow the children to take part in specifically planned yoga sessions for their age group. This helps with stress, anxiety and offers the children different ways to be calm and relaxed. They learn techniques and exercises that they can practice and use at home as well some in class. The children enjoy the lessons and go home talking about the classes and how they have helped them as well as practising the techniques they have learnt. It allows them to use different easy to remain calm, relaxed and stress free. Approx 110 Buying size 4 footballs for the two football clubs we have after schools, and for PE lessons also. To allow the children to be able to take part in football training and games by having the correct equipment. Holly Haffernan delivered great yoga sessions for the year 6 class this year in preparation for their SATS and also after wards. The children learnt ways to calm themselves, be relaxed and deal with pressures of school and home life. They all enjoyed the sessions and could say what they got out of each session also. Holly constructed her own pupil voice and questionnaires for the children to get feedback. On the whole this proved to be very successful and something that impacted well on the children and their results. As this was so successful Miss Kesper and Miss Hovenden have already booked for this to happen next year. This was spent on football and will need new ones next year for the new football after school clubs. The school football team have taken part in tournaments and local matches and more recently reached the finals. It has allowed the children to experience matches, meet new people, experience a match, visit new places and to learn and use great sportsmanship qualities. To allow the school to offer this as an after school club possibly as well as offering another sport to learn in PE- KS2 in particular. For the children to be able to play water basket ball, polo and other games. This will encourage the children to be more active in the pool and also offer other activities. Esposito have done well again this season entering football tournaments and friendlies. This is something we will continue with next year. The tournaments help the children to understand sportsmanship, demonstrate SMSC and represent the school. This is something that wasn t ordered this year due to ordering new badminton nets instead. This was due to the fact that badminton was more of a popular sport and a sport that children were already doing well and therefore seemed only right to make this the priority. Therefore next year volleyball is the PE Leaders priority to ensure that a new sport is being introduced. This wasn t ordered this year due to already having some equipment from the previous year but this is something to order in the next academic year. Approx 50 White board for the sports area This will allow teachers to make notes on the board during PE lessons, display the LI/LO/ WALT, during lunch times and after school clubs. Total amount to be approximately spent for the coming year: 8900 This will be put in place ready for the new year (2016/17) How to make sure improvements are sustainable: The schools PE and Sports leader will make regular and frequent observations of the lunch time provision, CPD cover coach and keep in regular contact. A contact book is set for Premier Sports to monitor this and to record the different activities and sports they do each day.

4 Staff that receive the CPD for their classes PE take notes and show the impact in their planning of PE lessons. The sports leader will send out a questionnaire about sports and PE in the school by the end of the school year to get the parents and children s feedback. The sports leader will also construct pupil voice throughout the year. PE REPORT JULY 2016 The PE Leader has kept in regular contact with the lunch time leader from Premier sports and set up a contact book for communication between all staff. This has been really useful and effective; our main sports leader Laura Green has been fantastic. Regular contact is made to Dean Crandley every Wednesday to check on lessons, children, and their behaviour and how the lesson went. We also have a school portal that the PE Leader has access too, to see the children developments and assessments made by Dean. This has been very useful this year to see some data from PE. PE has been taught across the school with a minimum of 2 lessons being taught a week up until term 4, where one PE lesson is replaced by swimming. We are very fortunate to have a swimming pool at school and therefore can offer one swimming lesson a week for each class (reception year 6(. We employ two fully qualified swimming teachers and have lifesavers trained within the school too. All children have been able to access a swimming lesson a week for a total of 13 weeks. We also offer after school swimming clubs as well as two sessions of swimming a week for those children in twilight. The PE that has been taught across the school has been consistently good. All teachers get changed for PE to set an example for the children to understand why it is important to change. This has been great to see in all classes. Computing has been used in some units of work in PE across the year groups to show examples of sports (video clips), sharing photos and videos from previous lessons and using it to show key words. Most teachers use the whiteboard in the hall too to display success criteria if that is appropriate for that particular sport/lesson, as well as a learning intention. This is often spoken about in class before they wither go out to the sports area or down to the hall. We have offered a range of after school clubs this year such as netball, football, gymnastics, yoga, zumba dancing, multisports, swimming, futsal, stall ball and rounder s. All children from all year groups have taken part in the range of after school clubs this year.

5 We hope to offer the same or similar sports in the next academic year. Key stage 2 have introduced the mile a day in the last term to see how it went. They do this towards the end of their lunch time in years 5&6 and the staff take part too. This encourages the children to be active, get fresh air, feel good, have a positive mindset and help increase their physical activity. They are able to complete this by running, jogging or walking. This is something that may be introduced further down the school to encourage more children to be active. The idea behind it is to try and walk a total of 26 miles- a marathon. This has been narrowed down to a mile a day which is approx 14 laps of our sports area. Each of the children s laps are logged and at the end they receive a certificate of achievement. This has been another great year for sport and PE at Sedlescombe school. The staff have all worked hard to deliver good/ outstanding PE lessons and after school clubs.
