Upcoming Attractions DISPLAY OF SKILLS In an effort to enhance the student s creativity, observation and talent, various skills and activities were taken up during the term. Minds are like parachutes they only function when open.

An array of competitions was held during the term to bring out the best out of the young and talented students.

To emphasize on the importance of this inexpensive, portable skill the English Handwriting competition was conducted for the students in an effort to recognise the skilled writers.

Each classroom turned into an art gallery when the kids started giving colour to their vision.

English Handwriting Competition: (Grade I, II & III) Cursive Writing is an art that helps teach children muscle control and hand-eye coordination. To emphasize on the importance of this inexpensive, portable skill the English Handwriting competition was conducted for the students in an effort to recognise the skilled writers. Drawing and Colouring Competition: (Grade I & II) During the fourth week of May the students at YIS witnessed the much awaited Drawing and Colouring competition. Each classroom turned into an art gallery when the kids started giving colour to their vision. The teachers really enjoyed and will forever cherish this rare peek into the creative minds of the young artists. Qira ath and Singing Competition: (Grade III) The students of Grade-III participated in the Qiraa th competition with spiritual fervour and delighted the judges with their enchanting rendition of the Quranic verses. Participants of the Singing competition sang beautifully and mesmerised the judges with their melodic voices. Hindi and 3 rd Language Crossword Puzzle Competitions: (Grade IV) To enhance the significant brain function of word finding fluency, Hindi and 3 rd language Crossword Puzzle competitions were organised during the term. Winning doesn t always mean being first, winning means you re doing better than you ve done before.

3 SPECIAL ASSEMBLIES INDUCTION OF CLASS PREFECTS The new academic year commenced with the selection of class prefects. To inculcate leadership skills and develop personalities of the torch bearers of tomorrow, the students with leadership qualities and academic excellence were chosen by the class teachers. To honour the selected candidates a special assembly was organized wherein the prefects were awarded with special badges. Mother s day was celebrated with pomp and great festivity at the YIS campus on 8 th May To show gratitude and respect towards their mothers, students of Grades I-IV presented a spectacular special assembly. The assembly was a perfect mix of songs, poetry and performances presented with great confidence and enthusiasm. The students made a fabulous effort to entertain and impress the audience with enthralling performances that touched the hearts of many. The children dedicated the day to their mothers and expressed their affection through the medium of art. They depicted their innate feelings by preparing special crafts for their mothers. The creativity and imagination of the students was commendable.

To stimulate awareness of environmental issues the World Environment Day was celebrated on 5th June The celebration constituted songs and skits by students which highlighted the various means to protect the environment. CLASS ASSEMBLIES Class assemblies form an important part of the school day and aid in the formation of vital links within the school community. They help in training the students to behave well, to respect and appreciate the efforts of others. The class assemblies at Yara International School provide a training platform for both teachers and students to share new ideas about cultures, festivals and current affairs. Childhood is like a mirror, which reflects in after life the images first presented to it.

5 WORLD CHAMPIONS ROLE OF TEACHERS IN OUR LIFE THE SOLAR SYSTEM The best thing to spend on your children is time. The parent teacher meeting held during the term was an interactive session which proved fruitful to everyone. It provided an insight into the various aspects of the teaching-learning process and offered immediate solutions too. At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child s success is the positive involvement of parents.
