All students across the school have set personalised learning goals for reading through recent PLP meetings. Over the coming week s students, with the support of their teachers, will work towards achieving and/or beating their reading goals. You can help by encouraging reading to be part of your child s daily routine. It is difficult to see students crossing in other areas due to the number of parked cars and buses. The front of the school day is extremely busy at the end of a school day. Encourage your child to safely cross the road. Wow! Every class group achieved over 90% for the week! First time for Theo, Darcy, Georgia P, Julia and Mia who attended the Balonne Swimming Trials last Friday. I spent the last 3 years teaching in the Junior Secondary department. I am originally from Townsville, where I did the majority of my schooling and attended University. They are a breed of sheep grown for meat. On the 28 th February (week 6), students in Years 7-10 will be undertaking an excursion to Jakelwar to develop skills in safe sheep handling and husbandry techniques. Further information and permission forms have been handed out in class. Forms are due back on Monday 26 th February. Science: Students have been planning and conducting a range of experiments in science this term. In Year 7/8 students have been investigating how to separate mixtures using a range of different instruments in the science lab. In Year 9/10 students have been investigating heat as a source of energy and how it can be transferred between spaces and objects. Students have started their mid-term assessments in week 4 by conducting their own experiments to demonstrate their skills in scientific writing. Maths: Year 9/10 students have been applying their knowledge of trigonometry to real-life questions that they have posed. Do you know what is the height of?, you can calculate this using trig.
