1 7.1 RESPECT FOR SELF 7.0 UNIFORM POLICY Any form of writing or drawing on the body or uniform will not be tolerated. 7.2 UNIFORM At Emmanuel Catholic College students are required to wear a uniform. Although uniforms are expensive to buy, they last a long time and are usually easy to look after. For a detail information of the College requirements regarding the uniforms for girls and boys, please see the illustrations overleaf. Some general statements regarding the uniform include; zstudents, who are out of uniform, must supply a relevant note to their Pastoral Care Teacher outlining why the correct uniform is not being worn. The Pastoral Care Teacher will supply the student with a Uniform Exemption Slip valid for one day. Students must carry this with them all day and produce it upon request. zstudents who repeatedly wear their incorrect uniform will be interviewed by their Head of Year. In such situations parents will be phoned and asked to bring the correct items of uniform to the College. zyear 7 10 students are required to wear their Physical Education uniform on the days they have timetabled Physical Education lessons (except Tuesdays). This does not include Health and Physical Education elective subjects (e.g. Sport and Outdoor Education, Specialised Physical Education, etc.) zon Tuesdays all students are required to wear their formal uniform for the duration of the day. Any student with any Physical Education classes must bring their Physical Education uniform to school seperately and change. zin Terms 2 and 3, the full College tracksuit must be worn to and from school. zstudents who have school sport training after school may wear the Physical Education uniform home. zstudents must wear the correct College hat during all Physical Education lessons in Terms One and Four. zstudents are strongly encouraged to wear the correct College hat, and sunscreen, when in the sun during the break times of lunch and recess, before and after school, particularly in the warmer months of Terms One and Four. zon House designated days students are expected to wear their House Shirt with their Sports Uniform to and from the College, e.g. Patron Saint Feast Days, Swimming and Athletics Carnivals. Exceptions will not be made as this would be unjust to the students who are following correct procedure and representing the College in a positive manner. The public image of the College is dependent on the appearance of the students. The support of parents is essential in maintaining the standard of student s uniform and grooming. 6 Examples of appropriate and inappropriate sports shoes. School Diary 2018 zsports shoes or joggers must be conservative in colour, shoes predominantly fluorescent in colour are not acceptable zapproved sports shoes or joggers are those which provide the required support and structure to safely engage in sports activities. Supportive shoes have a firm heel and inflexible sole. Flat soled shoes, as pictured below, are not acceptable. zlaces must always be tied up in the appropriate manner. zin consultation with the Head of HPE the relevant Head of Year will deem what is and what is not acceptable, on behalf of the principal. zany student or parent who is uncertain regarding the suitability of sports shoes are welcome to consult the Head of HPE or relevant Head of Year prior to purchase. 7 7.4 JEWELLERY zone small pair of gold or silver studs or sleepers may be worn in the lower lobe of each ear. zstudents must NOT wear any other visible facial or body piercings, plastic, clear or otherwise; this includes the covering of piercings with band-aids or similar. zone gold or silver chain with a religious symbol may be worn around the neck and under the dress or shirt collar. zrecognised medi-alert bracelets zone watch. No other Jewellery is acceptable. 7.5 HAIR zextreme hair styles (eg. Rat s tails, dreadlocks, radical cuts, etc) or tints of a nonnatural colour, or two-tone contrasting colours are not permitted. zhair must not be clipped to less than a Number 3 length. zhair must be kept off a student s face and held in place with plain pins, combs or elastic bands. zhair accessories such as ribbons or scrunchies must be in College colours. (Dark blue, teal, navy or white) zhair longer than the shoulder must be completely tied back and the fringe must not fall below the eye brows. zmale students should be clean shaven at school and at College functions 7.7 TATTOOS Visible tattoos are not permitted at school or at school events. This includes when normally wearing the College summer or winter uniform, or College sport uniform. Students who have a tattoo must have it covered with clothing or a skin-coloured bandage at all times. 7.8 GENERAL GROOMING No make-up shall be worn except on medical advice.
