2 MASON RECREATION CENTER OUR MISSION Our mission is to enrich the lives of the citizens of Los Angeles by providing safe, welcoming parks and recreation facilities and affordable, diverse recreation and human services activities for people of all ages to play, learn, contemplate, build community and be good stewards of our environment. OUR VISION Our vision is to provide affordable recreational, physical and cultural opportunities for all of Los Angeles residents, with a focus on families, youth development and building healthy communities. The programs and services offered by the Department will provide excellent value and quality and emphasize the equitable distribution of resources throughout the City. We will offer these programs in safe, attractive and well maintained facilities that will reflect the publics needs and interest. OUR MOTTO We build healthy communities through people, parks and programs. Class Registration Information Class registration will begin on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 1:00 pm and will continue until classes are full. Classes need a minimum of 5 students. Classes begin the week of April 19, Classes are in session for 8 weeks. No Make up Classes for participant s absences and no substitutions. No Make up Classes for participant s absences and no substitutions. All information in the brochure is subject to change and/or cancellation without prior notice. Neither the City of Los Angeles nor Mason Recreation Center carries insurance. Patron must carry their own insurance. Full refunds are only issued when the recreation center cancels activity. A 15% cancellation fee is assessed for all refunds. Changes or transfers per class, sports league or day camp registration maybe assessed additional fees. After the first day of a session, the Recreation Center issues a partial refund to patrons withdrawing from the activity. OFFICE HOURS MONDAY FRIDAY 9:30am 10:00pm Saturday 9:00am 5:00pm Types of payments accepted: Cash/Check/Visa/Mastercard Please make checks / money orders payable to: City of L.A. Dept. of Rec. and Parks A receipt will be provided for any payment made. A collection fee will be charged for each returned check by the bank. 1 Good Sportsmanship is Everyone s Responsibility. 3 Class Registration Begins Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Classes begin the week of April 9, Classes are in session for 8 weeks. Classes need a minimum of 5 students. Limited space available. Karate Martial Arts for beginning and intermediate students. Teaching self defense & discipline. NOTE: New students will be issued a new uniform. Uniforms obtained from other sources are not allowed. Please respect our tradition. Mondays & Tuesdays 5:30-6:30 pm Class meets twice a week. NOTE: Continuing students are not guaranteed a space in any class. Limited space available yrs Beginning Soccer New Students $170 Continuing Students $120 Introduction to basic soccer skills and conditioning in a fun and non-competitive environment. Tuesdays 4:00-4:30 pm 3-4 yrs $65 Tuesdays 4:30-5:00 pm 5-6 yrs $65 Tuesdays 5:00-5:30 pm 7-8 yrs $65 T-Ball & Coach Pitch (Baseball) Introduction to basic baseball skills and conditioning in a fun and non-competitive environment. Wednesdays 5:30-6:30 pm 4-8 yrs $65 Adult A.M. Yoga Bring focus and energy to your day through warm-ups, stretching, gentle yoga postures to improve balance, flexibility, and strength. This is a beginning/intermediate class with modifications for all abilities. Wednesdays 9:30-10:30 am Adults $45 Flag Football Children will learn the basic fundamentals of flag football in a fun and non-competitive environment. Mondays 7:00-8:00 pm 7-12 yrs $65 Parent & Child Stroller Fitness A fitness class for parents and their child(ren) with a stroller. Get a full-body workout and socialize with other families. Thursdays 12:00-12:45pm Parent & Child $65 2 Basketball Clinic Introduction to basic basketball skills and conditioning in a fun and non-competitive environment. Thursdays 4:00-4:30 pm 3-4 yrs $65 Thursdays 4:30-5:00 pm 5-6 yrs $65 Thursdays 4:30-5:00 pm 7-8 yrs $65 Pre-Ballet An introduction to dance through fun and imaginative games and play, using a variety of music. This class is designed to prepare the student for beginning ballet. Ballet slippers are recommended. Thursdays 4:00-4:30 pm 3-4 yrs $65 Beginning Ballet Elementary positions and steps are introduced in a positive, creative environment. Dancers develop body awareness, motor skills, a music base, and grace. Ballet slippers are recommended. Thursdays 4:30-5:15 pm 5-8 yrs $65 Crafty Kids Kids will enjoy making their own projects and enjoy sharing them with classmates through interactive play, using games and storytelling. Crafting builds fine motor skills and encourages a child s creativity and confidence. Thursdays 5:30-6:30 pm 5-12 yrs $65 Parent & Child A variety of fun & social activities engaging your child to interact with parents and classmates. One adult per child, per class. Fridays 10:30-11:15 am 2-5 months $65 Volleyball Clinic Introduction to basic volleyball skills and conditioning in a fun and non-competitive environment. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Volunteers needed for coaching all sports, community events, and various park activities.
