Grade 2 students happily gave their full attention to the activities presented to them during this recent incursion. Three amazing aboriginal presenters delivering a highly energised program which had everyone leaning forward and participating. Check our Facebook page for a video clip and photos. Gr 4 Camp- Learning to live together and Learning to be. Our Maldon Bike Education delivered on all that it promised. The bike riding, outdoor adventures, cold weather, living at close quarters and even the lolly shop (quantity and quality) provided all the students time to explore their personal strengths. Feedback ---Student Attitude to School Survey This cultural survey is delivered once a year in June to all Victorian students in Years 5,6,7,8,9,10. The survey provides valuable information to our school in regard to Student relationships, Student wellbeing and student opinion on their teaching and learning. Our grade 5/6 students and their teachers are very pleased that the data is steadily improving within all cultural factors which contribute to a healthy school culture. Together they are already planning on how to lift the results even further in The students were asked to give a response to sixty questions. Here are examples of some of the questions on the survey. Student morale-i feel positive at school Student distress I feel tense at school. Teacher Effectiveness -My teacher puts a lot of energy into teaching our class Teacher empathy - My teacher listens to what I have to say Stimulating learning My teacher makes the work we do in class interesting School Connectedness- I feel good about being a student at this school. Student motivation Doing well in school is very important to me. Learning confidence - I am good at my school work Connectedness to peers I get on well with other students at my school. Classroom behaviour It s often hard to listen to my teacher in class because other students are disruptive. 2 The results from the 2016 Student Attitude to School survey are as follows. The results have been shared with students and teachers 2016The Department of Education has asked our school to participate in the trialling of two new state wide programs. The first is a modified version of NAPLAN to be delivered online for the grade 5/6 students and then the grade 5/6 students have been asked to again complete the Student Attitude to School Survey but this time online and with new questions which match the learning environments of contemporary kids. Our feedback (teachers and students) will influence our education system in 2017 and beyond. Student responses Each year we strive to lengthen the ribbons of colour. Note The higher the mean score and the longer the ribbon of colour the more positive the result, even for Student Distress, as the scores are flipped for reporting purposes. Eg Student Distress the higher the mean factor score is a GOOD thing.

3 PE NEWS: HOOP TIME Congratulations to out grade 6 Hoop Time team who won the Grand Final at the Geelong Tournament last week. We are currently waiting on the information to be sent out for the next round. Well done and good luck. HOCKEY Congratulations to our Boys Grade 5/6 Hockey Team who won the Regional Hockey Final and are now getting ready to compete in the State Final at Footscray Hockey Centre. This is a fantastic achievement for all students involved. GOLF Mr Stribley and Mr Jarvis are seeking the names of students who are interested in having a go at Golf. At this stage we are just asking for names of interested students which will lead to a number of lessons and a tournament day at Barwon Valley Golf Club for the students who are successful during school trials. If you are interested then please head to the below link and submit the form. ATHLETICS Athletics training have been going for four weeks now. Although the number of students attending is growing Mr Williams and Mr Jarvis haven t seen many students who have qualified for the CITY 2 SURF Athletics Carnival. Can all students please check their s as Mr Jarvis sent out the following details to all students who have qualified. Training 8:20am 8:50am Tuesday: Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put and Discus Wednesday: High Jump Thursday: All running events including relay Permission forms will be sent out by Monday next week. All the information that parents and students need to know will be attached with this form. Please read it carefully as it is the students responsibility to know what events they are in and to listen for any announcements on event day. Potato Olympics Each student in grade 6 has created a character with their potato. They have given it a name and they now have to measure and record their character s vital statistics i.e.: height, weight, etc. and create a profile for their character. In the days to come their potatolete will compete in different events and their results recorded, then

5 Leopold Primary School & BP Leopold Community Partnership. Fill up and shop at BP Leopold (694 Bellarine Highway, Leopold) and earn money for Leopold Primary School. Involves any purchase over $20 at BP Leopold Request a receipt on transaction and place into the designated bin and BP will donate a $ figure based on amount of receipts received per month. So far this year LPS has received a donation of $1,145. Thanks to BP and the Leopold community.
