2 WEARING THE COLLEGE UNIFORM As per our Guidelines for Mutual Respect, the wearing of our College uniform is one of the key features which sets our students apart. Along with personal grooming, students are expected to take pride in their appearance. The details of the expectations about when and where to wear the appropriate uniform are evident in the School Handbooks (Senior School 4.11 and Primary School 4.15). Important points to note: Uniforms are to be worn in full. Eg.no mix and match between the various types (sports and formal), no external items (including sports representative team uniforms). This may require certain types of footwear and hats. Formal uniforms are generally worn for special occasions including assemblies. Teachers will remind students of what is required should they not meet expectations. It is important that in the first instance, parents check daily that the uniform and grooming standards are being met. This partnership between home and school is important. This includes attention to the maintenance of uniforms in terms of wear and tear, freshness and size. Our sun safety policy means that the wearing of hats is a significant component of the uniform. This brochure provides John Paul College families with a complete and convenient guide to the School s uniform requirements. THE RETAIL CENTRE The Retail Centre is located at the College s Chatswood Road carpark. The opening hours are Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4.00pm during term time. The Retail Centre is also open on the Saturday before the commencement of Terms 2, 3 and 4 from 8.00am to 12.00pm. In the January school holidays, the Retail Centre is open for two weeks before school starts. The operating hours are Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 4.00 pm and Saturday 8.00 am to pm. Opening days are also published in the school calendar and new parents are advised by the Registrar. The Retail Centre stocks all formal and sporting uniform requirements except for footwear. This includes apparel for Sikh and Islamic religious expectations. ISLAMIC UNIFORM POLICY Items are to be worn as per College Standards, no variations are accepted; If girls wear hijabs, they are to be College colour and design only (as outlined below); College tracksuits can be worn by Islamic boys or girls whilst doing PE or sports training; The length of girl s dresses, skirts and shorts is to be just over the ankle.
