2 Aboriginal Tharawal Local Aboriginal Land Council Operates the Culture Centre at Couridjah and Gibber Gunyah Centre at Picton. An annual Art Exhibition is held for local and regional Aboriginal artists. Contact Education Macarthur Community College A wide range of general, leisure and vocational courses held at locations across SW Sydney including Campbelltown Performing Arts High School and Picton High School (Belly dancing). Performing Arts Festival Conducted each year in August at the Picton High School with primary schools across the Shire showcasing the talents of local school children. Contact Campbelltown TAFE Art School Campbelltown Art School is a modern, purpose built facility for training in painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, graphic design and digital media. It has its own Exhibition Gallery and artists-in-residence program. Graphic Arts and Digital Media students utilise state-of-the-art computing facilities in their training. Membership can provide artists access to very affordable public liability insurance, funding assistance and project support. 3 The Cultural Advisory Group was established by Council in August 2010 following the adoption of the Wollondilly Culture Plan. The Plan was developed with the community to establish strategies to grow and develop the local cultural infrastructure, activities and opportunities for active participation in artistic pursuits within the Shire. The Advisory Group meets every second month and is facilitated by Council s Community Project Officer- Community Development, providing Council with advice on cultural development activities, policy, and assisting staff in the implementation and monitoring of the Cultural Plan. It has become a focal point for effective communication between arts and cultural groups and services across the Shire, helping to raise the profile of the opportunities available locally. The Advisory Group is open to any Wollondilly resident or person working within the Shire who is interested in advancing cultural development. Literature Fellowship of Australian Writers Wollondilly Writers and Poets group meeting 2nd Sunday of every month 1 pm at the Tahmoor Community Centre. 4 Music Classics at Picton Regular concerts of classical music by various well know musicians and local young people at the Wollondilly Shire Hall Menangle St Picton. 5 Heritage and Museums Wollondilly Heritage Centre & Museum Collects, researches and interprets the material, culture and local history of the Wollondilly Shire and Burragorang Valley. Located at 43 Edward St The Oaks it is open 10am to 4pm weekends and public holidays with schools and coach tours on other days by appointment. 6 Visual Arts Wollondilly Arts Group Artist and crafts people of all age groups,backgrounds and talents working in various mediums. Creative Get Togethers each month at the Thirlmere Scout Hall. Group conducts an Annual Arts Exhibition along with displays at the Old Thirlmere PO and local cafes. Contact Warragamba Silverdale Art Group - the Dam Artists Local artist meeting every Tuesday 10 am to 1 pm (except school holidays) in the Wigwam Hall Weir Rd. Warragamba. Also hold regular art exhibitions during the year and an Art Competition for young people as part of Damfest in October.
