2 UNIFORM LIST - EARLY LEARNING CENTRE Uniform is compulsory for all girls in the Mamie House (3 year olds) and Annie House (4 year olds). The uniform described below is also worn as the PE uniform for Reception and Year 1. 6 UNIFORM CODE School uniform is compulsory at Wilderness School and all students are expected to take pride in their appearance and grooming. The correct uniform is to be worn in its entirety to and from School. No additional items are to be worn at any time during the school day. All uniform items are expected to be named and in good condition. UNIFORM The length of the summer dress and winter skirt and pinafore must be must be worn to the knee or longer, girls will be required to lengthen or replace their uniform with one of correct length if it is too short. Summer: Summer dress, white hat and black school shoes with long or short white socks. Wilderness blazer (Years 3 to 12) is optional in summer unless required for a school excursion or other formal occasion. Girls in Reception to Year 2 do not require a blazer. Winter: Reception to Year 3: pinafore, Peter Pan blouse, tab tie, plain brown jumper and black Mary Jane style school shoes with chocolate brown socks or tights. Years 4 to 6: Wilderness blazer, skirt, plain brown jumper, over blouse and crossover or standard tie. Years 7 to 12: Wilderness blazer, skirt, cable jumper, over blouse and Wilderness standard tie. FORMAL OCCASIONS/EXCURSIONS Girls are expected to wear the full School uniform including the Wilderness blazer with shoes (not sandals) and long socks (not tights) when representing the School at formal occasions. Crossover ties (Years 4 to 6) must be worn on all formal occasions during winter. On formal occasions the jumper is not worn under the blazer. Excursions are viewed as a formal occasion. Girls will not be allowed to attend excursions unless the correct uniform is worn. Long socks should be pulled up. BLAZER Years 3 to 12: The School blazer must always be worn to and from School with winter uniform on School excursions and formal occasions. Girls in Reception to Year 2 do not require a blazer though may purchase one for warmth if they so wish. Other coats and parkas are not permitted. A blazer is not required to be worn to and from School with summer uniform. JUMPER The plain brown and brown cable jumpers are worn all year round. The jumper may not be worn as the outer garment to and from school, but may be worn under the blazer, however, on formal occasions the jumper is not worn under the blazer. The jumper may be worn as the outer garment within the school grounds. The plain jumper is worn from Reception to Year 6. The cable jumper is worn from Years 7 to 12. Year 6 is a transition period from plain jumper to a cable jumper. Girls in Year 6 may wear the cable jumper if they outgrow their plain jumper. PINAFORE/SKIRT (YEAR 3) Generally, girls in Year 3 wear the pinafore until the end of Term 3 of that year. However, if she outgrows her pinafore, needs to pass it on to a younger sibling or is a new student to the school, a skirt with over blouse and crossover tie may be worn. The skirt, over blouse and crossover tie are worn from Year 4. TIES The fabric tab tie is worn with the Peter Pan blouse and pinafore from Reception to the end of Year 3. Crossover ties are worn with the skirt and over blouse to Year 6; the standard tie may be worn as an alternative to the cross over tie for girls in Year 4 to 6. Standard ties are worn for Year 7 to Year 12 with winter uniform. Year 12 girls may wear the Year 12 tie as an alternative to the brown standard tie

7 HATS The white summer hat must be worn to and from School with the summer uniform and on excursions during summer. Girls in ELC to Year 6 are expected to wear the blue sun hat during play periods and blue sun hat or blue Wildy PE cap during PE lessons. Our policy is No Hat, No Play for all girls in the Junior School. Girls will be asked to sit in the shade if they do not wear their hat. RAIN COATS Rain coats are required for Reception to Year 2 and may be worn as the outer garment to and from school in Terms 2 and 3. Other rain coats, coats or parkas are not acceptable. PE UNIFORM PE lessons: All girls from Reception to Year 10 attend PE lessons. Girls in Year 11 and Year 12 will not require a PE uniform unless they are participating in competition sport or studying SACE PE. PE shorts may be worn by all students to Year 12 and are compulsory from Reception to Year 4. A PE skirt or shorts may be worn from Year 5 onwards. Black, short leg bike shorts are worn under the skirt and are not to be worn on their own. Girls in Reception to Year 2 wear their PE uniform to School all day on the days they have PE lessons. Sport Practice: Girls in Years 4 to 12 may not arrive at School or leave School at the end of the day in sport uniform except when they have sport practice before or after School. If girls in Years 4 to 12 have PE after recess and sport practice after School they may change into their sport uniform at recess time and remain in their sport uniform for the rest of the day. COMMEMORATIVE TOPS (HOODIES) Tops that have been designed for a school trip or sporting team, for example, are not to be worn beyond the particular event for which they were designed. The cream Year 12 jumper may be worn at any time with the formal School uniform as an alternative to the brown jumper. Year 12 hoodies may be worn at School only with agreement from the Principal. These tops may not be worn to and from School or outside the School at any time with School uniform. They must not be worn to PE lessons or to sport or sport practices. However, they may be worn with casual clothes at any time. SCHOOL BAGS Wilderness School bags are compulsory. The Uniform Shop stocks back packs in three sizes, one size trolley bag and optional sport bags are also available. HAIR/JEWELLERY Hair below the collar in length should be tied back. Hair styles must be kept simple and tidy and should be age appropriate. Whilst the School recognises that hairstyles are a matter of individual style and taste, all students are required to keep their hair neat and clean and unobtrusive (eg no dreadlocks). Hair accessories for winter uniform are blue, brown or uniform fabric, and for summer uniform, blue, white or uniform fabric. Hair coloured elastics or combs are acceptable. A wide range of hair accessories is available from the Uniform Shop. Hair colouring is not acceptable for primary aged students. Hair colouring, if used by older students, should be natural looking and subtle, ie no more than two (2) shades different from its natural colour. No jewellery is to be worn with School uniform. However, one pair (one in each ear lobe) of plain silver, gold or pearl studs no larger than 5mm in diameter or standard size sleepers is permitted. Watches are encouraged and must be plain with a silver/gold or neutral band. MAKEUP/TATTOOS/NAIL POLISH Makeup (including, but not limited to, blush, eyeliner, eye shadow, foundation, lipstick, and mascara) is not permitted. On written advice from a medical practitioner, a student will be allowed to wear a light covering of prescribed foundation that matches her skin tone. Tattoos are not permitted. Coloured nail polish is not permitted. Smoking and the chewing of gum are forbidden at School, and in School uniform

8 CYCLING TO SCHOOL Girls cycling to School must wear an approved safety helmet. A girl cycling to School will be excused from wearing her blazer but will require a parental note in her diary, to be signed by her Head of School. If there is an excursion she will be required to bring her blazer. NAMING YOUR UNIFORM It is a requirement of the school that all uniform items are clearly named. Iron on labels, stitched on labels and permanent marker are all acceptable. INTERSCHOOL SPORT PLEASE NOTE: Girls may not play sport in track pants, spray jacket, rugby jumper, fleece vest or jacket. These garments are worn before or after matches. Captains and coaches should ensure this high standard of presentation of our teams. The School rugby jumper, fleece vest, fleece jacket or spray jacket and tracksuit pants are the only acceptable forms of additional clothing to be worn to practices and before or after matches. Hoodies are not acceptable. ATHLETICS & CROSS COUNTRY Wilderness PE Uniform (Wilderness PE polo, PE shorts or skirt and Wilderness black short leg bike shorts, Wilderness PE ankle socks or white ankle socks and Wilderness PE cap). Black bike shorts may be worn for athletics and cross country Interschool competitions. BASKETBALL Wilderness basketball uniform Years 7 to 12 supplied by PE Office, with Wilderness PE ankle socks or white ankle socks. Junior girls wear PE uniform. HOCKEY Wilderness hockey uniform (Junior girls wear PE uniform, B grade wear PE uniform, A grade supplied for season by PE Office), Wilderness long blue socks, hockey shoes, shin pads and mouth guard. LACROSSE Wilderness lacrosse top (supplied for season by PE Office.), Wilderness PE skirt and Wilderness black short leg bike shorts, Wilderness PE ankle socks or white ankle socks. NETBALL Junior wear PE uniform. Years 7-12 Wilderness netball dress (purchased at own cost) black short leg bike shorts, Wilderness PE ankle socks or white ankle socks (white socks with blue stripes). Girls may wear ¾ length black leggings for training only. SOCCER Junior wear PE uniform. Years 7 to 9 PE uniform, soccer boots, Wilderness long blue thin skin socks, shin pads and mouth guard. Years 10 to 12 Wilderness soccer uniform (supplied for season from PE Office). Wilderness long blue socks, soccer boots, shin pads and mouth guard (optional). TENNIS Wilderness PE uniform (PE polo shirt, PE shorts or PE skirt and Wilderness black short leg bike shorts, Wilderness PE ankle socks or white ankle socks) and Wilderness cap

9 ROWING (YEARS 8 to 12) Training: Wilderness zoot suit and white Wilderness compression top or PE polo and Wilderness black short leg bike shorts, sandshoes, rowing cap. Racing: Wilderness zoot suit and white Wilderness compression top, Wilderness PE ankle socks or white ankle socks and Wilderness cap. VOLLEYBALL PE polo and PE shorts, Wilderness PE ankle socks or white ankle socks and Wilderness cap. SWIMMING Wilderness bathers and Wilderness swimming cap. Wilderness PE uniform should be worn at other times. WATER POLO Wilderness water polo bathers and water polo cap, provided by PE Office. Wilderness PE uniform should be worn at other times. BOARDERS UNIFORM SHOP PURCHASES Boarders can purchase items from the Uniform Shop on account. Itemised accounts from the Uniform Shop will be posted to parents on a monthly basis and are separate from your School fees account. Payment of Uniform Shop account is 30 days; the shop accepts Visa Card, MasterCard, cheques and direct deposit. Details are included on your monthly statement. Accounts more than 60 days overdue will attract a fee of $20. No account purchases may be made while an account is overdue. If desired, parents may determine a financial limit for their daughter s account. Please discuss this with the Uniform Shop Manager. Parents may also choose to leave credit card details with the Uniform Shop for payment of uniform purchases. These details are stored in the safe

HOLIDAY TRADING The Uniform Shop is closed for normal trading during the school holidays. However, holiday opening times will be advertised during the year via and on the Wilderness School website. PHONE SALES If you are unable to get into the Uniform Shop during opening hours, purchases may be made over the phone with your credit card. Please give the Uniform Shop a call to discuss your requirements. NEW STUDENTS All new students will be invited to make an appointment for a uniform fitting in November. VOLUNTEERS The Uniform Shop is managed by Meredith Olsson with the assistance of several generous volunteers from the School community. If you are interested in helping in the Uniform Shop, please contact Meredith via phone or . SALE OF SECOND HAND UNIFORM Parents who wish to sell garments may leave these items at the Uniform Shop or at the Front Office. Please note the following terms: Please leave your name, address and phone number with a detailed list of garments. Please ensure that all items are freshly laundered. Blazers, skirts and tunics are to be dry cleaned. We will not accept garments that are very thin or frayed, with stains, tears, holes or with obvious repairs. The Uniform Shop accepts summer uniform in Terms 1 and 4, and winter uniform in Terms 2 and 3. PE uniform, ELC uniform, blazers and jumpers are accepted at all times. Uniform Shop staff will determine a suitable selling price and once sold you will be sent a cheque for 60% of the sale price. Cheques will be posted after the end of each term. The Uniform Shop Manager reserves the right to dispose of any garments considered unsuitable for sale. After 12 months, clothing that has not sold will be considered a donation to the School. We do not accept shoes, socks, sports briefs, or any discontinued uniform.
