The School Office will be staffed from 9.00am to 2.00pm Monday through Friday. School will start again promptly at 8.00am on Monday, 24 October. Mrs Kazuko Krähe Japanese Mrs. Krähe is one of ISB s external language teachers. She originates from Tokyo and has been living in Bremen since Mrs Krähe has been teaching at the ISB for the past two years, supporting our Japanese students with their English and Japanese. On a Monday afternoon, she also teaches Japanese to other interested ISB students and adults as an After-School Activity in the school s Library. In her spare time, she coaches figure-skating at the Paradice ice-skating rink in Walle. 2 Parent Bulletin 7 October 2016

3 University and Career Guidance Counselling (Grades 9-12) UCAS Applications Deadline: 15 October for UK - Medicine, Veterinary Science, Dentistry, Law and Oxbridge Students are now able to register with UCAS for UK courses starting in September To do this, students will be required to provide a school 'buzzword'. This can be found on the board outside my office and I will be on hand to aid students with the registration process over the next few weeks. The deadline for the most popular and highly selective courses (Medicine, Veterinary Science, Dentistry, Law and applications to Oxford or Cambridge) is 15 October The general deadline for applications to all remaining courses is 15 January PSAT/NMSQT for Grade 10 Grade 10 students at ISB will be taking the PSAT/ NMSQT test on The test examines a student s abilities in Writing and Language, Reading and Maths. As well as preparing students planning to take the SAT later, the results of the PSAT/NMSQT provide information on a student s strengths and weaknesses, allowing them to make informed decisions about their studies. For more information about the PSAT/NMSQT please follow this link: Applying to Colleges in the USA If your child is planning to study in the US, it is time to make a start on the application process. Most universities and colleges allow you to apply via CommonApp ( but many require you to apply directly to the institution or faculty. Early application deadlines are in November If you are interested in applying early then please inform Mrs Garrett. The majority of applications must be completed between January and March Bear in mind that almost all colleges will expect applicants to have completed either the SAT or ACT testing. The Results of This Week This week the points have come from the swb- Marathon at the weekend, with Roland and Lloyd having runners represent their Houses in the 10km race. The rest have all come from individual House Points earned, of which there has been a huge amount this week - everyone has obviously been working very hard!
