There are seven charming boarding houses located around the historic market town of Stamford which cater for girls and boys aged between seven and 18 years. Each house, run by dedicated, on-site houseparents, has its own unique friendly family feel, with organised academic work routines and a varied social life. We also offer a competitively priced boarding programme which includes a unique flexi Monday to Friday offering, to suit busy and ever-changing lifestyles. All boarding houses provide a consistent, caring environment in which each child is nurtured to reach their full potential, both academically and socially. Boarding at Stamford shaped me into an international citizen with its multi-national exposure. Stamford is a safe town and boarding there was the best experience I ve ever had. The town and the School gave me the foundation to develop. STAMFORDIAN, HONG KONG Independent Learning and Intellectual Curiosity is the foundation upon which we base the all-round development of each child. Stamford attracts boarders from far and wide, with 80% from the UK and 20% coming from around the world. Great care is always taken to ensure that each child has their religious, dietary, language and cultural needs met. Diligent boarding staff keep close communication with all boarding families. All boarders benefit from a routine of homework supervised by qualified teachers. Students receive a consistently high level of support with their academic work and are mentored through their life experiences. Older boarders are given additional support with university applications and finding work experience to ease their transition from school to further education, and their future careers. 3 Outstanding Location Steeped in History The school site is spread over a large area, giving the students plenty of room. Part of the site features beautiful, honey-coloured stone, Georgian and older buildings. THE GOOD SCHOOLS GUIDE Stamford is an exquisite, historical market town which was recently voted by The Sunday Times as The Best Place to Live in Britain. Littered with honey-coloured Georgian buildings, Stamford nestles quietly amidst the idyllic Lincolnshire countryside. However, hop on a fast train and you can be in central London within the hour and the prestigious university city of Cambridge is merely 40 miles away. 4 Our Houses Home Comforts St Martin s (Boys 17-18) is a beautiful Georgian town house, in the centre of town, surrounded by walled garden. It is well equipped with single or double rooms and en-suite facilities for 12 boarders. Browne House (Boys 16-18) is a modern, purpose-built house with en-suite facilities, situated in the heart of Stamford School, and accommodates 57 older boys. This house overlooks our magnificent sports fields, and our state-of-the art leisure centre where boarders can easily access facilities such as the sports hall, gym, tennis courts, cricket nets, art and DT centre, and computer suite. Park House (Girls 16-18) is situated next to the beautiful Burghley Park, Stamford High School, and close to the centre of Stamford. Twenty-four girls share single or double rooms with en-suites. Outstanding Houses Beautiful Grounds The boarding houses are a delight with the least institutional feel that we have ever met. THE GOOD SCHOOLS GUIDE Boarding houses are made up of private bedrooms and small dorms, with no more than four children to a dorm. Each house is light and airy, has a warm, homely decor and includes facilities such as a common room, activity room (equipped with pool, table tennis tables and pianos) and private study/quiet rooms. Some of the bedrooms have their own en-suite facilities. Welland House (Girls 11-16) is a ten-minute walk from the centre of Stamford. The house enjoys a beautiful private garden to the rear and views of the tree-lined River Welland to the front. Forty-four girls share welcoming common areas and bedrooms that accommodate between two and four students according to age. Byard House (Boys 11-16) nestles in the heart of Stamford School near to the Hall, the Chapel, and the Research & Learning Centre. Close to the town, it accommodates 44 boys in rooms of two, three or four according to age. Houseparents get to know each pupil well and take time out to listen and support each child. Excellent pastoral care promotes strong bonds and a culture of caring between pupils. Older boarders act as prefects and are encouraged to get involved in the running of their houses. For me, boarding is amazing. I get a lot of free time where I can go to the gym and play table tennis... I can talk to my friends. It just feels like a big family. STAMFORDIAN, HONG KONG St Michael s House (Girls and Boys 8-12) is coeducational and situated within the extensive grounds of Stamford Junior School.The children enjoy regular use of facilities such as the playing fields, sports hall and swimming pool as well as their own games room and lounge within St Michael's House. Twenty-two pupils are accommodated in single gender dormatories of four pupils each with an en-suite bathroom. Wothorpe House (Girls 16-18) is a small boutiquestyle house, situated in-between Stamford High School and Stamford Junior School, providing accommodation for six Sixth Form girls.

5 Outstanding Lifestyle Contemporary Living Sixth Form Boarding Successful Futures Our boarding programme has been created to prepare Sixth Form students for the future. Our Sixth Formers can pick from a menu of academic, practical and intellectual activities that suit them. Our education programmes are designed to ensure students are life-ready. Our Enrichment Programme enables students to take extra courses of interest (both academic and co-curricular) including MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) or EPQs (Extended Project Qualifications) and BTEC in Sport. Students leave Stamford with an attractive array of qualifications and experience, in addition to their core A-Levels. For example a student wishing to study medicine may choose Physics, Biology, and Chemistry for A-Level, supplemented by work experience in a hospital and volunteering with the elderly, forming the best all-round experience. Modern Boarding with a Fresh Outlook In addition to full boarding, three-, four- or five-night weekly boarding options are available to suit busy, modern families, and ever-changing lifestyles. We encourage all boarders to communicate with parents regularly, via telephone, , WhatsApp, Skype, Twitter or Instagram. 6 Outstanding Opportunities Work, Rest and Play Beyond the classroom is a multitude of activities in which all boarders are encouraged to participate. Weekend pursuits include many different activities such as badminton, bowling, paintballing and karting alongside regular sporting fixtures and matches. Boarders are encouraged to arrange their own in-house activities which can include festive parties, cupcake workshops, fundraising initiatives and big brunches. There are a great range of clubs, from chess to polo and music to debating. Boarders attend Chapel on Sundays. Many outdoor water pursuits are enjoyed at Rutland Water, one of the country s leading watersports centres which is less than 10 miles away. Hobbies include sailing, waterskiing, windsurfing and rock climbing. Other local centres offer opportunities for tobogganing, skiing and snowboarding. Exciting Weekends Organised trips take boarders to many different towns and cities. Recent visits include London s West End theatres, Harry Potter World, Cadbury World, shopping trips to Cambridge and fun days out to Alton Towers. Closer to home regular outings are made to cinemas, restaurants, cafés, spas and ice skating rinks. Please note: we do have exeat weekends and all overseas boarders are required to have a guardian.
