3 BOT Meeting The Board of Trustees met on Thursday 9 March and discussed the following: National Standards 2016 results 2017 Charter (Draft) PTFA Entity Charity or Branch of BOT (Chairperson to attend next meeting). Letter from Bishop Steve to St Peter Chanel Parish (The BOT will respond to the letter requesting the church remain open for the benefit of the school and local community) Building of new classrooms Salary Units Allocation Policy Chairperson s Job Description Alive Matters Register Outstanding Policies Revising Policies Reserves/Strategic Direction Setting Priorities Outdoor Education Policy, Child Protection Policy, Health & Safety Policy. The BOT were impressed with the great start to the school year and will be visiting staff for morning tea on 17 March to congratulate them on the Junior Swimming Display On Friday 24th March we have the Junior Swimming Display. This is an opportunity for the junior class to show what they have been learning during their swimming lessons pm Room pm Room pm Room pm Room 7 3 The little critters have made their appearance on some of the heads of our students again. We ask that you check your child s head and those of all members of your family TODAY please. The best way of doing this is by combing each person s hair when it is wet with a fine toothed comb. Any lice will become trapped in the teeth of the comb. If any nits are found, treat them straight away. Successful treatment consists of wet combing each section of hair from the scalp to the tips with conditioner (not 2 in 1 shampoo/ conditioner though) or purchasing a special Head Lice Shampoo from either a Pharmacy or by obtaining a prescription from a Doctor Once treatment has commenced, the child can return to school. NOTE: CHILDREN SHOWING SIGNS OF UNTREATED LIVE LICE MAY BE SENT HOME. Once treatment has commenced, they can return to school. Working together helps us protect all our children. ROALD DAHL'S play THE WITCHES At Riverlea Theatre 25 March - April 8. Daniel Cruickshank (past pupil) has lead role of "Boy" and there is two school mums performing too. The show has witches to scare you, things to make you laugh and the wonderful story of a writing genius. Book at iticket.co.nz

5 Twilight Sports Tonight! Tonight, Thursday (23 rd March) we are having our Annual SPC Twilight Sports Night. This is a special night for all of the family to come together to watch the children s activities and spend time with other families. The programme for the evening: 5:15 pm Students to assemble on the field, in their Houses 5:30 pm Sports Night begins with House Dances 5:30 Session One begins: HOUSE RELAYS Group A: 5 8 year olds at Running area Group B: 9 13 year olds Games Rotation At the completion of Session One the 5 8 year olds return to their parents for dinner. 6 Walk for Lent - Friday 7th April Why do we walk for Lent? The Walk for Lent is something our school has done for years. It has become a tradition. The walk takes us away from our ordinary school day and gives us time to focus on the plight of millions of less fortunate people than ourselves. We think about those who have to flee their homes because of famine, war and natural disasters, often having to walk great distances looking for help or safety. Parents are invited to join their children and participate in the walk. As part of our Walk for Lent contribution, each child is asked to bring along food items for the foodbank. We would appreciate any contributions you can make. Timetable: 9.00am Whole school Mass 9.45am 10.00am Short break for toileting and roll call All classes leave the school for their walk. Rooms 4, 6, 7 and 10 walk down to Ann Street, along the river path to St Andrews Golf Course, up to Braid Road and back to school. Rooms 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9 11 and 12 walk to Ann Street, along the river path to Wairere Bridge, Delamere Road and back to school. Upon their return, students return to their classrooms for a sharing time to talk about the significance of the walk and also the rice meal they will have for lunch. Children will not require morning tea or lunch on this day. A rice meal will be supplied by the school. Children will need an empty lunchbox to hold their rice, and a spoon, water bottle and suitable footwear for the walk. Parent Help is required for: 1. Supervision on the walk 2. Assisting with the cooking of the rice 3. Supplying a rice cooker Please fill in the reply slip to give us permission to take your child on the walk. Please indicate if you are able to accompany your child and return the slip to the school office by Monday 3rd April. I give my child/ren permission to participate in the Walk for Lent. 7 SPC Netball Muster A short muster for all potential players ( in years 1-6 ) will be held at 3.15pm on Monday 27 March on the school astroturf. Information will be distributed there regarding the different age group competitions and requirements. Parents are very welcome to attend. Registrations for winter netball are now open on the schools website under SPC Sports please note that they will close next week. If you want to play, you will need to register! For any netball-related queries, contact Sue Farrell on Iceblock Friday $1 iceblocks are on sale every Friday (outside the staffroom, after school) during term 1. The funds raised go the SPC Sports Club and are used to buy uniforms and sports gear. Students are only allowed to buy for themselves or their siblings, unless a parent is present and gives permission. A $1 gold coin is all that is required to purchase our icy treats! Winter Sport Registrations For all winter sports registrations, view now on the school s website. 7
