3 Dear Prospective Head Teacher, Thank you for your interest in the post of Head teacher of Bishop Tufnell CE (Aided) School(s). I am delighted that you have chosen to find out more about our schools. Bishop Tufnell CE Infant and Junior schools are entering a transformational phase. Following the retirement of our current Executive Head teacher, our governing body has recently unanimously voted to amalgamate to form a new all-through primary school in September We will shortly be consulting with our school community. We are looking for an inspirational leader to combine our Infant and Junior schools successfully, to build on our strengths and to work with us to implement and develop our improvement plans as we move from Requires Improvement towards Good and beyond. We need a dynamic person who is keen to take on new challenges and share their zest for children s learning with our staff, pupils and parents. I am personally incredibly excited about the opportunity we have to build on the fantastic work our teachers are already doing and provide them with a structure and processes that will enable them to secure better and more consistent outcomes for all our children. I am really looking forward to finding the right person to lead our schools and turn our plans into reality. 4 Our Vision for Bishop Tufnell CE Primary School Learning together, to serve God, His world and all His people always our best because everyone matters Bishop Tufnell Primary school meet the needs of all our individual pupils to ensure they fulfil their God-given potential to enjoy life in all its fullness (John 10:10). 5 More information about our school and community Bishop Tufnell CE Schools Federation is currently comprised of separate Infant and Junior Voluntary Aided Church of England schools. Our schools are three-form entry with children taught in mixed ability classes, usually with children of the same age and we do not plan to change this after amalgamation. We are situated in Felpham, a beautiful West Sussex seaside village bordering the town of Bognor Regis and close to Chichester, Arundel, Littlehampton and the South Downs. The majority of our pupils come from the local area, with some travelling from central Bognor and the surrounding villages. Felpham has a long history and was recorded in the Doomsday Book in 1086 as 'Felcheham'. The village is perhaps best known as the former home of William Blake. Away to sweet Felpham, for Heaven is there; The Ladder of Angels descends thro the air; On the turret its spiral does softly descend, Thro the village then winds, at my cot it does end. William Blake The school is on the boundary of two parishes, St Mary s in Felpham and St Nicholas, Middleton-on-Sea. We, therefore, benefit from the support of two Vicars and their congregations. Father John and Father William are fully committed members of our governing body and actively involved in school life, leading worship every week and providing pastoral and practical support to both schools. As well as our committed and energetic Friends and Parents Association (FAPA), who work really hard to organise events for the children and their families, we also have an active Parents Forum. Our Parents Forum represents the views of all parents and carers and informs our schools of the needs of our children and families. The Forum provides feedback on how things are working and offers a parent s perspective on current policy and practice so that the schools can make the best decisions for our children.
