1 Role Employment Status Terms Boarding Senior Supervisor Permanent part-time 37.5 hours per week for 34 weeks per year 19.7 hours per week for 4 weeks per year Hours per week are on a rotational basis during school term time Classification Responsible to Education Support Officer Boarding House Stream Grade 3 Year 1 Head of Boarding About Loreto Loreto College is an independent Catholic Day and Boarding School for girls from Early Learning to Year 12. It is one of many schools throughout the world directed by the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary IBVM (also known as the Loreto Sisters). To work in a Loreto school is to be part of a vibrant tradition reaching back to 1609 when Mary Ward established her first school for girls in Europe. A strong belief in the capacity and responsibility of women to contribute significantly to society and to the Church underlies the emphasis in Loreto s education tradition. This is based on Mary Ward s conviction that Women in time to come will do much. In 1905, Loreto in Adelaide opened in Sydenham Road at Norwood. The present site, The Acacias, on Portrush Road was opened in 1921 with 100 students. Today, there are some 550 students from Reception to Year 12 including 50 boarders.

Position Overview The Boarding Senior Supervisor has responsibility for assuming a leadership role and supporting a collaborative approach to the care of all girls in the Boarding House. The prime responsibility of the Boarding Senior Supervisor is the safety and general well-being of the girls in the Boarding House. The Boarding Senior Supervisor will have particular responsibility for the students in either Years 7-10, Year 11 or Year 12 and will maintain effective communication with the students parents in the particular area of responsibility The duties of the Boarding Senior Supervisor will be directed by the Head of Boarding, mindful of the Loreto College goals. The Boarding Senior Supervisor will be required to work 37.5 hours per week for 34 weeks per year and 19.7 hours per week for 4 weeks per year, a combination of active supervision and sleeping hours, on a roster which covers 24 hours a day/7 days a week during school term time only. The Boarding Senior Supervisor will be required to sleep overnight on a rotational basis (week day and weekend). Key Accountabilities Responsibilities and Expectations Key Performance Indicators Communication communicate effectively with parents to assist them in supporting their daughter s evidence of a range of communication strategies development and well-being; evidence of effective meetings, with actions documented maintain effective relationship and communication with supervisory, support and teaching staff; evidence of contribution to newsletter report all relevant issues promptly to the Head of Boarding; contribute to the publication of the Boarder Newsletter Planning and Goal Setting in conjunction with the Head of Boarding, develop a set of short-term and longterm goals, for the development and continued improvement of the boarding house; evidence of development of initiatives and how they are implemented Problem Solving and Decision Making be responsible for the welfare and safety of the boarders at all times; organise the day to day routines in the boarding house and in particular the rosters and duties of the girls in your area; encourage positive morale within the boarding house; instil a high standard of politeness and develop an understanding and awareness of appropriate life skills; evidence of safety and welfare processes being adopted evidence of administrative skills in operation evidence of strategies adopted evidence of behaviour management practices being utilised in consultation with the Head of Boarding evidence of communication strategies adopted

3 attend to discipline issues as they arise; assist girls and liaise with parents regarding leave; evidence of programs being implemented ensure the Boarding House is kept tidy; report any WHS issues immediately to the appropriate person and the Head of Boarding; report any maintenance issues to Property Services Manager and forward copy to boarding staff; be aware of and able to activate all security systems; notify Head of Boarding of any sensitive matters via ; be accountable for all keys assigned to the Boarding Senior Supervisor; in the absence of the Head of Boarding report matters of discipline and pastoral care to Head of Senior School; advise Head of Boarding of any serious breaches of Boarding House guidelines; be proactive in initiating leisure activities; other duties as directed by Head of Boarding; Collaboration work closely with the Head of Boarding to ensure that the boarding house is a caring, compassionate community for boarders, within which appropriate behaviour management is exercised and an environment conducive to study is maintained; Continuous Learning engage in professional development opportunities or associations in relevant areas which are external to the College; take responsibility for achieving challenging personal professional goals; evidence of strategies being adopted evidence of memberships of associations and committees and participation in professional associations evidence of participation in personal/professional initiatives develop and sustain a positive image and profile within the Loreto community; engage in reflective reviews with Head of Boarding

4 take personal responsibility to strive for excellence through the use of reflective practices; Mission and Ethos incorporate Loreto s Mission Statement, its principles and values in all interactions; role model Christian values in all dealings with students, staff and parents; evidence of how values are exhibited evidence of attendance fully support the Catholic ethos by taking part in staff and student prayer, social justice activities and voluntary service; participate in community events; Community attend all boarding school functions such as the welcome information night and Parent BBQ and Year 12 boarder farewell dinners; provide consistent public support both within and outside of the College for schoolwide policy initiatives and strategic plans; maintain a professional standard of dress in accordance with the College s Staff Dress Guidelines; maintain confidentiality at all times and demonstrate high professional standards within the College and community; evidence of support of College s goals and strategic objectives evidence of availability to participate at College functions evidence attire meets standards evidence confidentiality and high professional standards are maintained at all times
