3 Welcome to Chauncy School An inspiring and exciting place to be OFSTED I am delighted to welcome you to our school. Chauncy is a popular, oversubscribed, successful school at the heart of Ware. We are purposeful, forward looking and determined to be great. Students tell us that they feel safe and valued and Ofsted noted that their conduct was outstanding, encouraging exceptional opportunities for teaching and learning. Students at Chauncy are excited about their own learning. There is a passionate commitment by staff to inspire through excellent teaching. The strength of relationships between staff, students and parents has been vital in providing challenge and support, promoting achievement. We have a tradition of academic success founded on students ambition, belief in themselves and a school ethos that seeks to praise and reward all achievement. Promoting student achievement is at the heart of everything we do. We welcome students of all abilities and teach them in different groups from the start of Year 7 according to their academic needs. We have specialist status in Maths, ICT and Art and are a Centre of Excellence for Gifted and Talented Education. 13 The sixth form is good. It provides a wide range of courses and opportunities for pupils. Chauncy Sixth Form Our sixth form is a vibrant and rapidly expanding community which welcomes any student who can benefit from our exciting range of courses and learning pathways. We place great emphasis on high academic achievement and the development of young people into mature and independent learners. Integral to the school, our older students take responsibility, demonstrate initiative and provide leadership. They run clubs, mentor younger students, act as ambassadors and serve as excellent role models. A brand new 6th form centre, dedicated computer rooms, a common room and coffee bar provide an impressive learning environment. Enrichment opportunities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Gold scheme, the National Citizen Service and the Extended Project offer students the opportunity to study beyond the bounds of the sixth form curriculum. Being part of a sixth form which offers extensive curricular and extra-curricular opportunities, a strong balance of privilege and responsibility, our sixth form students are able to progress as autonomous and independent young people.
