10 HOME SUPPORT AND MONITORING Planners: Check and sign. School Bag: Packed the night before. Equipment: Pen, Pencil, Colours, Ruler, Sharpener. A reading book. Keep an eye on it. Uniform: No hats or hooded tops, black shoes, tie (at least five stripes), blazer. No earrings. Mobile phones: Are permitted but must be switched off in school. Please monitor your son s use of his mobile phone and any other social media. Reading, Independent Study: minutes every evening. Homework: Every evening. It is possible that a homework task be set as a six week project. Home support and interest are ESSENTIAL.

20 ROUTINES & RULES Detentions: Form tutors check SIMS data during afternoon registration 3:05 3:15. Boys may be kept behind at the end of the day. You will be contacted if they are to be kept longer than 35 minutes. Boys may receive a detention for the following reasons: No homework, late twice or more in one week, minor disruption to a lesson. Mobile phones may be confiscated if used inappropriately. Boys may receive anything up to a two hour detention for more serious cases of misconduct. Internal or external exclusion may be used for very serious cases of misconduct.

32 Department policies 2017/ % attendance is expected for all lessons It is your sons responsibility to inform his teacher during his music lesson a week before, if there is a school trip or important test in class on the day of a music lesson, so a clash can be avoided and the lesson can be rearranged. If your son has forgotten he has a lesson, his instrumental teacher will come and collect him from his curriculum lesson only on the first two times each term Unautho rised absence /per term Consequences 1 Level 2 and 10 minutes with Mr Forbat and a text sent home to inform parents. 2 Level 3 and 45 minute detention and a text sent home to inform parents. Lesson times can be found on a notice board in the Music Department or on the William Ellis website (Music > Instrumental Lessons).
