The objective of such competitions is to inculcate the character-building teachings of Swami Vivekananda among the youngsters so that they grow to become noble citizens of our Motherland. Participation Certificate will be issued to all participants. Schools can participate in any of the 5 venues mentioned in this brochure and indicate the same in the entry form. Only 5 (five) students to be sent for each category. A participant can compete in more than one language. Please ensure that the names and surnames of participants are legibly written in CAPITAL LETTERS in your Entry Forms so as to avoid any mistakes while preparing prize-winners and participation certificates. A panel of three judges, whose decision shall be final and binding, will assess the participants. No further enquiry in this regard will be entertained. 4 TROPHIES & PRIZES Best School : 2 Trophies (Maximum Prize Points) (1 Rotating) 1st Runner-up School : 1 Trophy 2nd Runner-up School : 1 Trophy Champion of Champions : 1 Trophy (Individual prize) Championship Awards : 20 (one in each category) All Prize-Winning Students : Books Championship Round for Elocution competition : Only First-Prize Winners of all 5 venues and from all the groups are eligible to contest in the Championship Round. Contestants for the Championship Round have to speak on the same topic. They need not repeat the same speech. All prize-winners and participants will be given certificates. Prize points : Championship Prize : 12 points 1 st prize : 9 points 2 nd prize : 4 points, 3 rd prize : 1 point. (No points for Encouragement prize) ELIGIBILITY FOR CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS Student should win at least 2 Championship Prizes. Winning in more than 2 languages will provide additional weightage 7. Any two students can speak at the competition and the first student will be allowed to speak for maximum 5 minutes. There will be a sign board at the end of 5 minutes, indicating the first student speaker to stop. Immediately the second student can continue from the first speaker. Another sign will be displayed after 8 minutues, when the PPT has to end. 8. Students should not continue after the Stop sign. Marks will be deleted if the students continue with the presentation after Stop sign. 9. There is no restriction on the number of slides which the group can make. However, all slides should be shown within the allotted time of 8 minutes per group. 10. The PPT can be mailed to us at rkmppt@gmail.com on or before Saturday, December 15 th, The entries will be received by only. JUDGING STANDARDS : 1. The presentation will be judged by a team of three competent judges whose decision shall be final and binding. 2. Marks out of 100 will be allotted as under : Contents of the PPT - 50 Presentation Skills - 20 Student s Creativity - 20 Overall impact - 10 PRIZES : Prizes will be for the Winner and Runner-up teams. Individual prizes will be given to the students and trophy will be presented to the Best School. IX) The objective of the competition is to inculcate in students, higher thoughts and values, so necessary for character-building, which is an urgent need in the contemporary society. We would like to invite other students and teachers from your school to view this competition. We hope the competition will be a useful platform for the students to imbibe the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. FORMAT OF THE COMPETITION 1. This competition is open to school students of standard VII to IX (Boys & Girls). 2. The participants of the competition are required to make a power point presentation on the topic The 150-year-old Legacy of Swami Vivekananda. 3. Three students of the same school can form a group. 4. The presentation has to be made by the group. 5. The PPT has to be made in PDF version. 6. The PPT can consist of relevant photos, graphics, words and even music. Time allotted shall be 2 hrs. per participant. The Organisers will provide one sheet of drawing paper (11 x15 size). The participants should bring their own painting materials. No sketch pens or markers will be allowed. The drawings will be the exclusive property of the organisers. ASSESSMENT : This will be made on the basis of composition/colour scheme/ finish. Each school can send 8 participants. (2 in each group) Std IV to Std. VI ONLY CRAYONS Std. VII to Std IX WATER OR PASTEL COLOURS. IX) ELIGIBILITY : Students (Girls & Boys) only Senior Group (Std. VII to Std. IX) Time : 9.00 a.m. Language : English Study Material : Quiz booklets will be provided to schools on request for distribution amongst the participants. Schools must state their requirements of the Quiz booklets at the earliest. The Quiz, based on the life & teachings of Swami Vivekananda shall consist of the following rounds : Preliminary Round based only on the Quiz booklet is to be conducted by the school for selecting the participating team. It should be conducted before Friday, Nov. 30, The question paper for conducting the Quiz will be provided by us. These papers should be kept confidential till the date of preliminary round. The three best performed papers, after evaluation by the respective school teachers should reach us on or before Wednesday, Dec. 5, Based on this round, a team of 3 students must be selected by the school for the final round. For the three finalists, one complimentary set of prescribed books will be supplied by us to the schools. Final Round - (9.00 a.m.) Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 Three top-ranking students must be selected by the school authorities to represent their school in the final round of the Inter-School Quiz Contest to be conducted by us at Ramakrishna Math, Khar. This will include written and oral rounds. The students are required to prepare for this round from the preliminary Quiz Booklet and other prescribed books which will be supplied by us to each of the 3 finalists from the participating schools. The schools are required to submit the names of the finalists & collect the books on or before Wednesday Dec. 5, 2012 from the Math at Khar.
