Collins Professional and Collaborative Learning Closure Day Friday 30 June The Gosport and Fareham Multi-Academy Trust Board has confirmed an additional professional development day for Secondary Provision on Friday 30 June. Therefore, Bay House and Brune Park schools will be closed to pupils and students on this day. This will enable employees of the GFM in these two schools to accelerate the advantages of becoming part of a local MAT. It will support ensuring the significant gains for youngsters in Gosport that will come from working and learning collaboratively. We thank you for your support. 2 Global Curriculum exchange with Beatrix College, Tilburg, Holland This year pupils from the Global Curriculum had the opportunity to participate in an exchange between Beatrix College and Bay House School. The first leg of the exchange took place from the 15 th 19 th of May when we travelled to Holland. Then we had the experience of some of the Dutch pupils returning and spending five days with the English hosts. We were especially lucky in Holland with the weather as it was more than 30ºC on two of the days. While we were there we participated in various activities which helped us to get to know the students. On the first school day, we took part in a project exploring the importance of migration. In order to complete this topic we had to research lots of different aspects and also create a model of a refugee camp. On the Wednesday, we finished the project and had to present them to the upper year groups. We then went on a trip by train to Den Bosch which was a pretty city. There were lots of popular shops but also a lot of cultural aspects. We then returned home and went back with our host people who gave us dinner and we took part in planned activities in the evening. On Friday, we took part in traditional Dutch games and then then did sports activities in the afternoon. Sadly, we had to leave on the Friday leaving behind some very good friendships. However, when the Dutch students returned, we had many activities for the guests to take part in which was similar to the ones we did in Holland. On Tuesday we did a collaborative project about the political system in the UK with the elections coming up on Thursday it was very topical. The Dutch students and teachers visited Winchester on Wednesday and went to a museum which gave an insight into British culture. They were treated to fish and chips cooked in school on Wednesday evening. Thursday was quiz and rounders followed by a performing arts performance in the Beacon Arts Centre on Thursday evening.

3 On Friday 9 th of June, 15 students from Year 8 and Year 9 Global Curriculum went to Rowner Junior School to run activities with the Years 4, 5 and 6. Throughout the course of the day, we taught the pupils about Fairtrade, diversity and the right way to treat others through a series of games and story book activities we had created. Bay House pupils had a lot of fun working with the primary pupils, and felt that these workshops really helped us get over the awkwardness and engaging with the students in a collaborative way when giving presentations, but also gave pupils at Rowner an insight into some interesting global themes. Here are some reflections on the day: it was very rewarding to actually teach other kids something that they could use further into their life. 8 A group of us are going to Malawi to support the orphans. The date for this trip is fast approaching. We are leaving the UK on 23 June. Thank you very much to all of you who have already donated items for us to take out. If you haven't and would like to, there is a box is in reception. I have included the FOMO ( Friends of Malawi Orphans) wish list below and would like to thank you in advance for your support of this amazing charity which supports around 3500 orphans in the Mulanje district of Malawi: Badminton rackets.

9 Community Updates Tickets are selling fast for the GFM Summer Ball and we are delighted The Reverend Richard Coles has agreed to be our after-dinner speaker. Richard used to be a popstar, performing with The Communards. This event is really one not to be missed! Tickets are on sale now from the finance offices in all our MAT Schools.
