The pressing need for creation of the newsletter was felt keeping in mind the vibrancy of the KM campus. With 19 departments and 37 societies working simultaneously, the activities happening on campus are numerous. 13 12 EMHERALD Don t Pack Your Bags, Pack songs... I AM SORRY I must study damn! Why I'm not able to concentrate even if I know it should be done right now! Study notes hanging in front of my bored eyes screaming every jiffy at their highest peak to get what they will never have 'my attention'. And why is this happening! You would understand the tantrums if you have been through the time where you had a 'Trip' to go just after your exams, and the anticipation for the trip, places you will adore and people you will meet leaves you bankrupt of your 'study cells' the conflict of interest sucks the juice out of you, and you were about to conclude that it s the worst thing that can ever happen to anybody! And the very moment you get mammoth powered uppercut that knocks your excitement and anticipation in the dustbin full of tissues used last night. It s the 'exam-next-day' knockout punch! And it comes with the herculean strength that picks you up with two fingers like you are some sort of outcast, drags you and throws you on the bed of dilemma, the dilemma is it's 3 a.m in the morning and you have your paper at 9 a.m. There are two ways you can handle this:1. Sleep now and count on your stars the next day (making sleep your prior- ity) 2. Don t sleep study overnight and play walking dead in the morning! (this is some GOT move not anyone can pull it off) Both of the options are dead traps! What to go with?1st (energy saver mode) or the 2nd ( ATP's consuming) The gist You know? When you started walking,i missed it, I am sorry When your mother said you spoke a few words, I was crestfallen that I couldn't hear them. The day you started your school, I could not come to drop you off I am sorry That day when you had friends, I wondered If I were one too? For all the birthdays I could not visit you, I am sorry For all the these days, when you felt alone and I could not be there I am sorry. I reckon why am I missing, you growing? Its already dusk, still not knowing Is it for the countrymen who all pelted stones at me. Or those maoists who attack us day and night. Is this all for the 1947 fight? Or is this for saving those heights? I reckon why I have to miss so much? All the personal talks, tickles and touch. But now I have decided that all this now has to end. For I am resigning,i cannot transcend. I promise to make up for all this time. Come back and bring back the chime Till then, accept me, accept my apology Dear son I am sorry, I am very very sorry. -Shubham Agarwal -B.COM (P) II YEAR of the matter is to pass at any cost, taking the middle way will possibly save your ass from getting detained, there is always the third way to study (set the alarm as per your comfort include the + bathing or bathing) at the stretch of पनथक eternity and sleep without knowing what time it is ( that will not scare the fuck out of you of knowing that 'shit how I'm gonna wake up now' play with the mind! Be smart). Pheww! Ok now you are back at home after the "sab bhagwan bharose" paper and it s the trip tomorrow, Pack this muffler! pack that favorite underwear, all that will do but the most crucial thing on your todo list must be to download your awesome playlist from 'chal chaiyya chaiyya' to ' Closer' and yup don t forget the bonfire tracks. Music soothes me and I wish you must be feeling the same when you feel unconnected and music holds you tight in its tunes and drives you from your low-pitched stage to the subtle high-pitched panoramic view of the world you never knew before. World of pure rhythm and piousness, the world where it's not necessary to know the language the ability of you to enjoy will suffice. Despite not knowing the language of music it adores you like you were here from eternity. And I never feel like leaving this aura, Never. So don t pack your bags. If my words Could fill the void That hangs in the air Everytime a woman lays On her bed like a machine Turned on and turned off At her husband's will I'd write them on every leaf Hanging on every branch of a tree And send them away With the breeze. If my words Could give life to statistics And transform numbers Into something more humane Something harder to forget In a world where mourning Is reduced to 140 characters I'd engrave them on every stone That lies on the path To justice. If only my words could... I'd scatter them in the air And wait with bated breath For them to seep into The skin of survivors And replace every atom of shame With resilience. -Shruti Sonal -B.A (H) Political Sc. 3rd Year म नव ह त म, ज ञ त ह ग तभ सर झ क न क द ननय कह ग मगर, सर उठ न न त म भ ल ज न कभ कष ट ज वन म नकतन भ त मक नमल, आ ख स आ स ओ क उतरन न द जल त जल र न क नलए, जल रह ह य अम बर म ज स रनव सर झ क न क द ननय कह ग मगर, सर उठ न न त म भ ल ज न कभ -Paurush Omar -B.A (H) Geography Ist Year -BSC. 15 14 MELANGE OPEN LETTER HUMANS OF KMC Dear Papa, When I was born, everyone was unhappy. Daadi Maa cursed mumma, bhai was told not to speak with me and relatives consoled but there was one person in the room who cried tears of joy. Thank you for putting me before the society. When I was three, you chose the best play school for me. They said, 'Toddlers learn the same everywhere, why such an expensive school.' But there was one person who recognized the importance of education. Thank you for giving me the best you could. When I was 7, I wanted an imported barbie. Mumma said it was not worth the purchase, a local barbie would have sufficed but there was one person who saw his dream of getting a remote control car in mine. Thank you for giving me my dreams. When I was 13, I wanted to go on a school trip abroad. They knew you couldn't afford it, they called you a fool. But who knew you were also scared of airplanes. Thank you for fighting both your budget and your fears. When I was 16, I fought with you. I wanted to attend a late night party. You didn't want me to. I lied to you and I escaped. Everyone said, 'zada pyaar ka nateeja hai' but there was one person who believed in me. Thank you for showing me the correct path and believing in me. Now that I am 18 and I look back, I see you fighting for me against all odds. Thank you for strengthening me while you yourself cried to sleep. Thank you for never saying no despite having monetary issues. Thank you for loving me despite all my flaws. Thank you for fighting the world for me. Thank you for being My Papa. But this thank you can never be enough. -Prachi Pahwa -B.A Program, I year I just believe in one thing, Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.
