2 Introduction Welcome to Sevenoaks School We are delighted to be welcoming new students and parents to Sevenoaks School, as well as welcoming many back. Here you will find times, venues and information to help you navigate through the first days and weeks of the new term. Some will be explained more fully in letters to come, but do make contact with us or take a look at the Parents section of the school website for further information, as explained in my accompanying letter. The first few days will be busy, perhaps daunting, and full of new faces, but it is good for students to stop and think on the first day and trust in the experience of so many who have gone before, that so many of those new faces will become firm friends in no time. When I meet Old Sennockians at our many events around the world, this is an overwhelmingly common message. Whether here for two, five or seven years our students, and their parents, make friendships for life. I hope to meet you all in, but in the meantime, have a lovely summer! 3 YEAR 7 LOWER SIXTH Thursday 31 August: Student Induction Day YEAR 9 12:30 Buffet lunch for students and parents in Lambardes 14:00 Lambardes students meet day students, Tutors and Divisional Head for induction, in school uniform, Claridge Lawn 16:00 Students return to Lambardes 16:30 Students introduced to facilities, Computer Room, followed by supper 16:30 Talk for Year 7 boarding parents, Lambardes (Housemistress and Divisional Head) 17:00 Head s drinks for Year 7 boarding parents, Head s House 17:30 Parents depart Wednesday 30 August From 14:00 Year 9 boarders arrive at their boarding houses 15:30 Tea in boarding houses for students and parents 16:15 17:00 Head s Tea for parents of Year 9 boarders new to Sevenoaks, The Space Foyer. Parents then depart. 16:15-18:00 House activities 18:00-18:30 Boarders supper; possibly barbecue if weather is fine Thursday 31 August: Student Induction Day 10:30 Students meet in the Sackville Theatre, in PE kit Talks and activities to get to know key staff, useful information and one another 13:00 Lunch 13:45 Meet at Sennocke Centre for an introduction to PE & Games staff and sports facilities followed by a games session for all 15:30 Return to boarding houses Wednesday 30 August From 12:00 Lower Sixth boarders arrive at their boarding houses 16:00 Tea in boarding houses for students and parents 17:30-18:00 Presentation for boarding parents, Pamoja Hall Led by the Head, Head of Boarding and Head of Sixth Form 17:30-18:00 Boarders supper; possibly barbecue if weather is fine 18:00 18:30 Head s drinks for Lower Sixth Boarding parents, The Space Foyer With Deputy Heads and Heads of Sixth Form 18:30 Parents depart Thursday 31 August: Student Induction Day Students new to Sevenoaks: 09:00 Meet in Pamoja Hall in uniform suit 09:30 Address by the Head, followed by talks and activities to get to know key staff, useful information and one another 12:45 Lunch 14:00 Depart to boarding houses.
