1 Ohio High School Athletic Association 4080 Roselea Place, Columbus, Ohio Physical School District Location of Feeder Schools for Competitive Balance (Updated ) Feeder Schools, for the purposes of Competitive Balance, are the non-public school or schools (parishes for parochial schools; schools from the same system of education for other private schools) located within a designated or chosen public school district attendance zone. A high school can have multiple feeder schools so long as they are located within the same public school district attendance zone, and a school(s) can serve as feeder schools for more than one high school simultaneously. If a non-public member high school fails to choose a school district/attendance zone for its feeder school(s), the public school attendance zone in which the non-public school is physically located will be assigned as that school s selected attendance zone. As a reminder, feeder schools are considered to be from the Same System of Education as defined by the Ohio Department of Education (i.e. Catholic Conference of Ohio, Ohio Association of Independent Schools, Association of Christian Schools International, etc.). Therefore, if a Catholic non-public high school selects an attendance zone with two parishes and one Montessori school physically located within that zone, the Catholic non-public school will only be permitted to select the two parishes as its feeder schools. In order to assist our non-public member schools with the Competitive Balance transition, the OHSAA has mapped the 533 non-public schools the Ohio Department of Education listed, as of 4/30/16, that contain grades 7 and 8. The process the OHSAA used to determine the school district in which each feeder school is physically located is as follows: 1. Collected the list of all non-public schools in Ohio, addresses included, from ODE website (713 total). 2. Narrowed that list to only include non-public schools which contain grades 7 & 8 (533 total). 3. Changed each PO Box address to the school s physical address by visiting each respective school s website. 4. Entered each respective school s physical address into the Ohio Department of Taxation website: 5. Double-checked each entry. 6. Collected the attendance zones of each school district with multiple high schools, and determined in which attendance zone each respective feeder school is located. This was done by comparing the attendance zone map/documentation vs. the physical address of each feeder school. 7. Listed each of the 533 feeder schools by district/attendance zone to provide non-public school high schools an easy, accessible list in order to select their chosen school district (or attendance zone, if applicable) and, essentially, choose their selected feeder school(s). If there is any dispute on what is listed below as to the school district in which the feeder school is physically located, the OHSAA needs to be made aware of this discrepancy no later than July 18, To complete the process, a senior level administrator from each non-public school will need to submit. 1.) The school s chosen attendance zone and 2.) The school s designated feeder schools, to the OHSAA Office, Attn: Kristin Ronai via (kronai@ohsaa.org) by no later than July 20, These feeder schools will remain consistent for a minimum of two years, at which time each non-public school will be permitted to change its selected school district/feeder schools to better benefit each respective school. 1
