If a student brings in an item to place under the Advent Giving Tree they will receive an ornament from Miss Maggie, which they can decorate and hang from the tree. Our goal is to fill the tree with as many toys as possible to give to children for Christmas. Part time 3&4 year old Preschool St.Pius X Early Learning Center St. Pius X Early Learning Center is now taking registrations for our Fall 2017 three and four year old Preschool program. Thank you from the Conlon's: Eric and Amy wanted to take this opportunity to say extend a huge THANK YOU to those of you who were able to attend the LuLaRoe fundraiser and for those of you who donated wonderful treats to the bake sale or monetary contributions. We can't even begin to express our gratitude for the St. Pius community and all it has done throughout our journey the last 4 months. We feel so very fortunate for all of you and what you have contributed to our lives, especially during this difficult time. The money will be used to help cover some of the costs of medicine that is a new part of Amy's daily routine. The many prayers are appreciated and have certainly made a difference. Thank you!

2 PTO News: PTO has a tradition of collecting voluntary monetary donations to use as Christmas gifts of thanks for the school staff. A letter with more information on the staff Christmas collection should have come home with your child(ren). Here is the link if the letter didn't find its way to you: PTO Christmas Collection If you would like to participate, please have your donation (in an envelope marked "PTO Christmas") turned into the school office by Wednesday, December 14. School directories were sent home with PTO member s children the week before Thanksgiving. If you notice any corrections that need to be made, please send an to newsletter@stpiusxschoolcr.com with Directory Corrections in the subject line. Corrections will be posted in the newsletter in the following weeks. Grade 3-5 Christmas Caroling at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel: St. Pius students in Grades 3-5 are invited be part of a special Christmas Caroling performance at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel on Monday, Dec. 19 at 6:30 pm. Our performance will last approximately a half hour. We will sing a mixture of secular and religious Christmas Carols. This event is voluntary. It is not a required school activity. Students who wish to be part of this special Christmas choir are asked to attend some extra rehearsals before school and during recess in the next few weeks. (see schedule below) Due to the busy music schedule associated with the 4 th and 5 th grade Christmas Concert occurring on Dec. 13 th, only students in Grades 3-5 are invited to be in this performance. These are the grades that will have already learned the songs that Mrs. Deignan plans to use for this performance. This will be a dress up occasion. Students should wear school uniform clothes or nicer. We will plan to meet at the Chapel at Cedar Memorial at 6:15. The chapel is the building that looks like a church that is further into the cemetery than the funeral home. There will be signs directing you there. Here is some information from Cedar Memorial describing the event: We are excited to have you perform at our Christmas at Cedar celebration on Monday, December 19 th, at 6:30. Please feel free to bring family and friends! We love to fill the chapel for these performances. There will be a food drive, so anyone who wishes to bring a non-perishable food item is welcome to do so. Practice schedule: Wednesday, Dec. 7 - recess Friday, Dec. 9-8am Wednesday, Dec recess Thursday, Dec am Monday, Dec. 19 recess Scrip News: December SCRIP Challenge Update: Any student whose family buys scrip during December will earn a jeans day on December 21st. All purchases made between December 1- December 20 will qualify. This is a change from what was announced last week due to another event happening at school before break. Use SCRIP for your Christmas gift giving! If you are someone who gives gift cards as a gift, please consider buying them through the St. Pius X SCRIP program - you will earn money off your tuition and raise money for the school at the same time! Thanks for supporting the scrip program! St. Pius X Church Christmas Eve Kids Choir St. Pius X parishioners in grades 3-8, you re invited to join the Christmas Eve Kids Choir! We sing at 4:00 Mass on Christmas Eve. No audition required. You can sing and/or play your band or orchestra instrument. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Christmas Eve Children s Choir St. Elizabeth Ann Seton will again have a children s choir at the 5 pm Christmas Eve Mass. All children from 3 rd grade through middle school are invited to join in the choir. There will be two rehearsals: Sunday, December 11 th, from 9:30-10:45am in Seton Hall and Sunday, December 18 th, from 1:00 2:15pm in the church. Saints Shop: Additional Hours in December Looking for some great Xavier-themed Christmas gift ideas? Visit the Saints Shop at Xavier High School (located next to the Activities Office near the main entrance) and find the perfect gift! 4 Monday, December 19: 11am 1 pm (last chance!) Remember that all purchases made through the Saints Shop directly benefit the students, teachers and staff of Xavier High School! Christmas with Xavier On Sunday, December 11, the Xavier High School Music Department will present Christmas With Xavier highlighting Xavier s vocal and instrumental music students. The program will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the Ron Thillen Gymnasium at Xavier High School. Admission is free but attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Metro Catholic Outreach food pantry. Courtesy Reminder from St. Pius X Church The church asks those attending any school function to please park in the main (big) parking lot in front of the church or school and NOT in the small parish office parking lot directly across from the park. That lot is reserved at all times for parish business only. This is especially important the night of the Christmas concert as there will be a parish council meeting that night as well. The church asks that parents please pass this message along to grandparents or others who may attend school functions. Note from the MCO Food Pantry With lots of help from you and our other friends, MCO gave food baskets to 1805 people from 530 families in November! MCO has been delighted to continue to receive donations from various school & business drives-st. Pius X & St. Jude schools, Regis, & Xavier have been repeat donors. Reminders- *MCO pantry & offices are closed from Friday, December 23rd to Sunday, January 1st. This means that we can't receive food deliveries on the 4th Monday. Call the office before then if you need to make arrangements other than bringing parish donations Monday, January 2nd. **MCO offices will be closed on Fridays starting in January. This doesn't affect pantry operations, but try to remember you won't be able to stop by or deliver donations on Fridays. Call our office with questions or to make special arrangements for large deliveries. We appreciate you taking time to think of us during this busy holiday season. Here are some food & other items that we hope to receive for our clients' baskets: Tuna Canned protein (Chili, Stew, Ham, Chicken, Salmon, etc.) Canned Pasta (Raviolios/Spaghettios) Pork & Beans Pasta Sauce Soup Helper Meals (Hamburger, Tuna, etc.) Potatoes (boxed or fresh) Rice Products Canned Fruit, Applesauce, etc. Muffin Mix Snacks (healthier) Jelly-we run out each week, so this would be a nice Christmas present = ) Cake Mix-this is handy to give out w/our canned pumpkin, which is building up again Toilet Paper Small/trial sized (hotel) soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. Full sized shampoo, soap, etc. for larger families
