In future weeks the speaking roles will be allocated for each room. As mentioned previously we are part of the Telstra Digital Futures promotion. Telstra is inviting community members to come into one of their stores, in the Maude Street Mall or the Marketplace to vote for their favourite school until Sunday 19th. The winner is determined by the highest number of votes. It is as simple as going in getting a token and placing it in Grahamvale s container. You can vote once a week. At last count we were not winning so please get as many family and friends to go in and vote as possible. While it is great to receive $1000 towards new tech equipment as well as digital resources it would be even better to get the most votes and receive the $4000! After the recent release of the proposed North East Precinct Structure Plan, the school has been working hard with all stakeholders in trying to eventually get extra land for the school. As School Council President, Paula Muir has been doing a lot of work around this but it has been a very slow process and looks like continuing to be. As part of this process, you may have noticed us taking Drone footage of the school car par at pick up time last week for our submission regarding the Shepparton North East Precinct Plan. We would like to thank Steve Childs and Alchemy Media for donating their time, and the Drone, so that we were able to get the footage. In response to some queries, the long hair policy which is part of the overall School Uniform Policy does apply to both girls and boys. Hair needs to be tied up or cut if it is longer than shoulder length. The majority of students have always done this anyway. Well done to the Parents Club, ably led by Kylie Pritchard, who organised last Saturday night s Christmas in July fundraiser. Everyone seemed to have a great time. The amount we raised will be in next week s newsletter. Next week is Dental Health Week. The Goulburn Valley Group of the Australian Dental Association gave us a poster which clearly indicates the large amount of sugar that is in many popular drinks. In our region the dental profession is concerned about the rates of childhood dental decay. There is also the high rates of obesity. Our school encourages the drinking of only water in classrooms. 4 House Lunch We will be having our Term 3 House Lunch next Wednesday 8th. Students are encouraged to wear their House colour t-shirt on this day. They will eat their lunch with their House team. This will also be a rubbish free lunch so we are encouraging students to reduce the packaging that they bring their lunch in. The amount of rubbish that each House brings will be measured and the House with the least will win! Year 3/4 students will do a sports session with the House Captains before recess on this day. 5 Year 1/2 Yorta Yorta Culture Talk The Year 1/2 students and teachers would like to thank Jacinta Traianidis for coming to share some Yorta Yorta culture with us. We loved hearing about how the Yorta Yorta people were the original owners of the area and learning about their history and language. It was a great way to kick off our Shepparton History and Geography topic for the term.

6 EXCITING Art News!!! Year 3/4 students wrapped animals are ready for display at the Zart Art Gallery for term 4! Congratulations to all students for producing such wonderful artwork. Parents can visit the gallery in Box Hill. A list of opening hours is on their website. The work will go on display on our school concert day- last Thursday of Term 3. So if you are in Melbourne over the holidays, please pop in and take a photo with our artwork. IF ANY PARENT IS ABLE TO DELIVER OUR WORK TO THE ZART GALLERY TO HELP OUT, please let me know. ACADEMIC AWARD - Jaye Ennis Jaye is a well prepared student who conducts herself with maturity and takes responsibility for her learning. She always arrives at school with a smile and positive attitude. Jaye continuously sets a fantastic example for her classmates. She enjoys being challenged in her learning and it is pleasing to see her tackle these challenges head on. Jaye is a self-sufficient learner who listens attentively and follows instructions well, ensuring she completes her work in a timely manner and to a high standard. She actively contributes to discussions and has the ability to build on other students ideas, while still expressing her own. Jaye is a delight in class and we all look forward to seeing her grow throughout the rest of this year. BOOK WEEK... Keep gearing up for our annual Book Week parade and activity day. Students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite book character (no need to buy anything new, scrounge around at home for outfits) and will be in multi age groups until lunchtime on Tuesday 21 st. Parents can watch the parade at the front of the school at 10:45am. It s a fun day and something our students/staff look forward to. Keep thinking of a costume!!!!!

7 DESIGN A MOOOVING ART COW Would you love to see your design come to life on a Greater Shepparton Moooving Art Cow? Now is your chance! To celebrate the opening of the Shepparton Court House and the ever changing Moooving Art herd, we are holding a Design a Cow Competition, looking for the most creative cow design, which will go onto become a permanent member of the Greater Shepparton s famous Moooving Art Cows. The theme is What does Greater Shepparton mean to you? The top entries will be announced and displayed at the Visitor Centre during the September school holidays. The design which is voted most creative by our panel of judges will be painted by our local artist and unveiled at the Visitor Centre in conjunction with the Greater Shepparton Moooving Art Roundup at the end of the September school holidays.
