No. Office: Residence: Mobile: All accredited institutions shall submit the AQAR to the NAAC by the end of every academic year with emphasis on the following key result areas: Year of Report: Part A: The plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year towards quality enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year. To initiate Cultural Exchange Programme with the Stanford University, U.S.A. The delegation would visit in this session. Special Coaching and Remedial classes for weak and meritorious students will be arranged to improve results. The college aims at ensuring that every student secures quality results. To extend the department of Sculpture and Design. Parking area for the cars of the staff of the college is to be extended. Live performances will be organized in the college by various artists from the field of Music. Part: B 1. Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution: 103 University ranks at UG and PG level.
2 Apeejay has been instrumental in procuring first position for GNDU, Amritsar by bagging the top position in 8 items in which it represented the university at Inter Varsity Youth Festival. The college was visited by Ms. Amar Nur and Mrs. Francina Lozado Nur the delegates from Stanford University, U.S.A. on October 29, Awestruck by the quality and achievements of the institution, they have recommended a Cultural Exchange Programme between Apeejay and Stanford University. Talent Hunt was organized for the new entrants. Competitions were organized viz. Fine Arts, Music Vocal, Music Instrumental, Rangoli, Dry and Fresh Flower Arrangement, Quiz etc. Industrial visits for the students of different classes of Commerce, Computers and Multimedia were organized for their practical exposure viz. Cremica Food Industry, Phillaur: Nestle India Ltd; Ludhiana Stock Exchange; HMT, Haryana; and Aurangabad, Hyderabad, Sangrur, Mysore, Ajanta-Ellora. A number of live performances, workshops and interactions sessions were organized for the students of Music, Art and Dance. 2. New academic programmes initiated (UG and PG): B.Com. (Honours) Computer Science as a subject for B.A. students 3. Innovations in curricular design and transaction: The curricular design and syllabus for various classes is prepared by the Board of Studies, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. A number of faculty members of our college are members of the Board of Studies of their respective departments. In that capacity they have played a vital role in the preparation and modification of the syllabi according to the changing requirements of the subject and their career prospects. 4. Inter-disciplinary Programmes started: The Department of Computers helped the students of the Department of Economics in understanding the avenues related with computers. The Department of Psychology provided counselling services-both academics and personal to the college students.
3 Inter-department Seminars are open to all the students. 5. Examination reforms implemented: 32 page answer sheets were introduced for house examination, as per University guidelines. In-house Flying squads were formed for maintaining discipline and keeping a check on UMCs during house examination. 6. Initiative towards faculty development programmes: (A) Campus Orientation An orientation lecture was delivered by Dr. D.R. Vij on Classroom Teaching in July Dr. Vij has retired as Principal, Government College for Education, Jalandhar, and is an eminent speaker and motivator. An interface on Filing of Income Tax was organized with Mr. Ravi Sharma, C.A. as the resource person on August 18, (B) Opportunities to faculty for Academic Development. Ms. Geeta Dutt, Head of the Department of Music Instrumental Her article Sangeet Sadhna was incorporated in Kala Magazine published in Benaras. Ms. Sushma, Head of the Department of Fine Arts Particpated in Workshop-cum-Exhibition in World Punjabi Conference held at Punjabi University, Patiala in December 2004.
4 Mr. Basudeb Biswas, Head of the Department of Sculpture a) He was invited as a resource person in the National Seminar held under the auspices of UGC at Ludhiana from 4 to 6 November b) Participated in a 25-day National Stone Carving Camp under the City Industrial Development Corporation of Maharasthra, New Mumbai from 25 December 2004 to 20 January Ms. Vandana Gautam, Head of the Department of Commerce and Management and Ms. Niti Soni, Lecturer in Commerce and Management Presented their papers on Knowledge Management in the National Seminar at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar Mr. Shabnamjit Singh, Lecturer in Economics a) Presented a paper on Environmental Non Tariff Barriers and Developing Countries in New Regime of TRIPS at the International Conference organized by Business and Economic Society International, U.S.A. held in Rhodes Island, Greece from 19 to 25 July He was adjudged the best participant b) Invited as a resource person in the National Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights organized by HMV, Jalandhar under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. c) He presented his research paper at Punjab Science Congress held at Punjabi University, Patiala and also a paper at National Seminar held in G.N.D.U. Amritsar. Ms. Richa Batra, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Ms. Ramandeep Kaur, Lecturer in Computer Science a) Presented research Paper at Punjab Science Congress, Patiala b) Research paper was accepted for the National Conference organized by IASTED, United States of America. c) Presented a paper in the National Seminar held under the aegis of UGC at Doaba College, Jalandhar. d) One of their papers was selected for the International Exhibition held at Thakur Singh Art Gallery Amritsar from 6 to 21 May 2004.

Details of Research Scholars: Ms. Amita Mishra, Head of the Department of Music Vocal, Ms. Anita Oberoi, Department of Music Inst. and Ms. Sushma Shair, Head of the Department of Punjabi, successfully completed their doctoral and were conferred Ph.d. Degrees. Ms. Santosh Vyas, Head of the Department of Dance, and Ms. Geeta Dutt, Head of the Department of Music Instrument are pursuing their doctoral studies. Ms. Simkee Dev, Lecturer in Economics, Ms. Payal Arora and Ms. Aarti Verma, Lecturers in Commerce got enrolled for M. Phil. 14. Citation Index of faculty members and impact factor: Nil 15. Honours and Awards to the faculty: Mr. Basu, Head Department of Sculpture was conferred with State Award by Punjab Lalit Kala Academy, Chandigarh for his work Joy in Bronze. Mr. Basu also received Merit Award from Indian Academy of Fine Arts, Amritsar for his work FEMINA in Bronze.

Community Services: The Youth Club organized workshops of Art and Craft for the disabled students of Red Cross School on December 23, The Youth Club extended financial aid to the students of Andh Vidyalaya. The Student Welfare Association, the Central body of the students in the college, celebrated International Citizens Day on October 2, 2004 with the inmates of Tyagamurti Old Age Home, Ladhewali, Jalandhar. 19. Teachers and officers newly recruited: 39 teachers in various departments were recruited in the current session on temporary/adhoc basis. 20. Teaching/Non Teaching Staff Ratio: 94: Improvements in the Library Services: New steel shelves for newspapers were purchased. Reference section was renovated. 22. New Book/Journals subscribed and their cost: 484 new books were purchased worth Rs. 2,22, New journals and magazines purchased worth Rs. 62, Courses in which student assessment of teachers is introduced and the action taken on student feedback: Student assessment of teachers has been introduced in B.Com and BCA classes. The feedback has been forwarded to the Principal.

College has its own website, which is updated for the convenience of the users. College has its own ID for timeless and convenient communication with students, parents and other stakeholders. 26. Computer and Internet access and training to teachers and students: All the systems in the college are enabled with P-3 with Internet access There is a centralized computer lab for all the teachers and students. 29. Financial aid to students: Scholarship for SC/BC students 16, Cash Awards to the students winning Youth Festival at Inter Zonal and National Level 52, Cash scholarship for University Position 54, Holders Purchase of books for toppers of house 35, examinations Total 1,58, Support from the Alumni Association and its activities: The annual meeting of Alumni Association was held in December 2004 in which more than 50 alumni participated. Various suggestions were put forth by the alumni for the improvement of placements which were well received and implemented. In-house placement by WIPRO was organized by the alumni. 31. Support from the Parent-Teacher Association and its activities: There is no Parent-Teacher Association. However, parents are regularly informed about the attendance and performance of their wards through mail.
11 32. Health Services: The college has a well established Department of Physiotherapy which also provides Health Services to both teachers and students. The department also provides OPD services to the general public also. First aid facility is provided Testing of Blood Group and HB. 33. Performance in Sports Activities: Annual Athletic Meet promotes sports activities among the students Special Coaching is provided to the students in various sports viz. Badminton, Cricket, Chess, Table Tennis and Basket Ball. Inter-class matches are arranged so that students use their energy positively and learn to appreciate team work. 14 At Inter Varsity Youth Festival, our students have been instrumental in procuring the First Position for Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar by bagging top position in 8 items in which it represented the University. The students of Apeejay College has also won the over all Championship at the Zonal and Final GNDU Youth Festival for the fifth time in succession. Quiz, debate, Declamation etc. held at Inter College Level, organized by different organization viz. Red Cross Society, Rotary Club, Lions Club to name a few. 36. Activities of the Guidance and Counselling Cell: Receiving suggestions and complaints from the students and providing their appropriate solution. Creating a congenial and conducive atmosphere and complacency among students. Teachers visit various schools for career counselling. Personal attention to all students under 1:10 (Teacher-Student ratio) scheme. Regular counselling session by Psychology experts. Identification of slow and advanced learners and special coaching for them. Interaction with Student Welfare Association. 37. Placement Services provided to students: Well established Placement Cell. Special coaching for final year students for preparation of interviews. Group Discussions and Mock Interviews were held by the Placement Officer. Teachers and the Placement Officer accompany the students in the college bus for participation in job fairs.

Reliance Group, Tata InfoTech, IDBI, Lord Krishna Bank, Spice Telecom, ICICI Bank, Architects Kapre & Mathur Associates, Jet Airways, Balaji Telefilms, Indian Army, Duke Fashion etc. 38. Development Programmes for Non Teaching Staff: General Orientation Programmes as well as Computer Programmes were held for the non teaching members of the staff. Apeejay Education Society conduct programme for all the non teaching members of all its local institutions. 39. Any Other relevant information: A 125-member Pakistani Delegation visited the College on November 19, The delegation consisted of renowned actors, singers, poets, administrators, and media personalities from across the border. The college was visited by representatives of different countries from around the globe on January 28, A Cultural Evening was organized in their honour. Some of our students and alumni have emerged as celebrities namely: Jasbir Jassi has evolved as internationally renowned Punjabi Singer. Namneet had the privilege of assisting designers like Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla and is now working at RAVISSANT, a popular design house in Delhi. Gunjan Walia has carved a niche for herself in popular tele serials being aired at small screen.
17 Part C: Detail the plans of the institution for the next year ( ) Promotion of research-more and more teachers will be facilitated to apply for various minor and major projects sponsored by UGC. Teachers will be pursued to enroll for M. Phil. & Ph.D. degrees.
