1 Stanhope Primary School Newsletter Learning Success Respect Citizenship Principal: Christine Owen Ph Mobile Issue 34 : October 29th, 2015 Celebrating Indigenous Culture On Wednesday morning Uncle Rick Ronnan, spoke to our students about a wide range of Indigenous culture and Information. There was a huge range of artefacts and photos and lots of good discussion, questions and answers. Students discovered that some of them had seen things such as significant scar trees and burial trees in their journeys with family and at other times. The various languages spoken around this local and surrounding areas were introduced, the laws and lore of clans and tribes, totems, corroboree, all were introduced and explained by Uncle Rick. For anyone wanting to know a little bit more, this site is a good start: There are links to various other areas of interest and other related organisations that provide information on our indigenous history and culture, as well as current reports and findings.
