1 PE and School Sport Annual Plan 2018/ 19 Primary School s Vision Statement for PE and School Sport At Wold Academy, we believe that physical education plays a vital role in the development of children, where they learn to develop a healthy lifestyle, raise achievement across the curriculum, develop confidence, teamwork and leadership abilities, and develop and embed a sporting habit for life. Through PE and school sport, children can develop values of: o Belief Developing self-belief to help improve sporting success and have a can-do attitude o Courage Challenging themselves physically and emotionally to try new activities, pushing themselves to achieve and develop new skills and trying to better their results o Respect Encouraging positive behaviours through playing fair, following rules and admiring peers/team mates for their abilities, qualities or achievements o Responsibility Experiencing healthy competition and learning to cope with life s successes and defeats o Friendship Creating friendships through sharing ideas with others, listening and responding in order to participate in physical activities o Teamwork Working together with other children to reach a common goal and develop key skills such as communication and social skills Primary objectives for 2018/19 1. Embed the horizon programme across to add to the foundation programme 2. Provide a more inclusive PE offer within the academy 3. Develop sport within the curriculum in order to identify children for competitions

2 Percentage of current Yr6 children who can swim 25m or over? 30% Sport Premium Grant Funding for schools will be calculated by the number of primary aged pupils (between the ages of 5 and 11) as per the annual census. schools with 17 or more primary aged pupils will receive a lump sum of 16,000 plus a premium of 10 per pupil. Smaller schools will receive 1,000 per pupil. This means that you should use the premium funding to: - Develop or add to the PE and sport activities that your school already offers - Make improvements now that will benefit pupils joining the school in future years Evidencing the Impact of the School Sport Premium The following guidelines outline what Ofsted Inspectors will be looking for upon their visits. For every Action that you as a school offer your children, you must ensure that you can evidence it against the criteria below. Please use the numbers below as a key in the requirement achieved column. Inspectors have been asked to consider the impact of the new primary school sport funding on pupils lifestyles and physical well-being by taking into account of the following factors: 1. Increase participation rates in such activities as games, dance, gymnastics, swimming and athletics; 2. Increase knowledge of teachers within the subject area through CPD, team teaching and access to resources; 3. Increase, amount and success in competitive school sports both inter and intra school; 4. More inclusive physical education curriculum; 5. Growth in the range of provisional and alternative sporting activities (new sports); 6. Improved partnership working on physical education with other schools and other local partners (School Sport Associations, NGB s, County Sports Partnerships, clubs etc); 7. Links with other subjects which contribute to pupils overall achievement and their greater social, spiritual, moral and cultural skills; 8. Greater awareness amongst pupils around health and wellbeing e.g. dangers of obesity, mental health, smoking and other such activities that undermine pupils health. 9. Improved physical education lesson planning and pupil assessment. At Wold Academy we have planned to spend the sport premium funding on the following in order to achieve our vision for PE and school sport:

3 Planned Sports Premium Spend Action Horizon Programme Description Implement the Horizon Programme to develop physical literacy and fundamental movement skills throughout the academy. The programme will give us access to: CPD for staff and support in school - Ongoing support in the delivery of the programme - Staff CPD tailored to the needs of the school - Access to lesson plans and activity cards to help staff deliver high quality PE lessons Star Awards - Proficiency award to track and measure pupils progress and attainment in PE - Horizon stickers to reward children s achievements in PE - Certificates of achievement for completion of the 4 skill areas (balance, movement, throwing, catching, dribbling and striking). Award assembly - To celebrate achievements attainment in PE - Raise awareness of physical activity in PE across the school Active homework Target Key Stage Area FS, and Cost Expected, measurable outcome & timescale 1500 Minimum of 5 (1 adult per year group) staff upskilled through CPD to lead and deliver the Horizon Programme within the academy. Throughout the academic year, we would expect: - Over 80% of children in Yr1 to achieve their 2 star award - Over 80% of children in Yr2 to achieve their 3 star award - Over 80% of children in Yr3 to achieve their 2 star award - Over 80% of children in Yr4 to achieve their 3 star award of these awards include assessment in balance, movement, catching, throwing, dribbling and striking. Increased parent awareness of the importance of physical development in their child, by measuring parent engagement in Tapestry posts and providing activities to complete at home. 4 Elite Athlete Visit - Engage parents by providing homework cards for PE Staff support - Specialist sport staff to visit and support teachers with the implementation, delivery and promotion. An elite athlete will visit our school for the day to inspire the children in the following areas: - Physical activity and wellbeing - Healthy eating (nutrition) and lifestyle choices - Working hard and achieving goals - Inspirational Assemblies - Reward sessions for selected pupils (attendance, achievement etc) - After School Club / PE sessions delivered by the athlete - Cross-curricular work (Interviews, reports, stats, geography, IT) - PE lesson support / delivery FS, and Greater awareness of areas such as nutrition, wellbeing and lifestyle choices. - Increased participation in sport / physical activity - Greater awareness of culture and diversity - Insight into the training / hard work of an elite athlete - Increased engagement across the curriculum through the sporting link - Gifted and talented sessions during the day A small quiz will be completed at the end of the day to check impact 1, 2, 3, 6, 8 Gifted and Talented days - Netball - Athletics - Multi-Sports Sportplan subscription Gifted and Talented pupils to receive an opportunity to develop their skills further and work with inspirational athletes and coaches in a number of sports: netball, athletics and multisports. Staff who attend use the talent days as CPD in the chosen sport, giving them ideas for their lessons / clubs. Database of lesson plans, session ideas for clubs and videos demonstrating technique in specific key stages and various sports Increased knowledge of the sport and access to a higher level of training. - Children better prepared when competing for the school in local competitions - Children inspired to join local clubs, train hard and maintain participation. - Staff increase confidence in the delivery of these sports in PE / Clubs FS, and 200 Staff to have quality PE resources to plan lessons from and improve schools PE lessons. 1, 2, 3, 6 2, 9

5 Split into key stage and activity / sport folders for ease of use. Teachers can access this from anywhere as it is web based. Learn A Sport CPD Course Staff will attend a Learn A Sport course to understand the rules, format and how it is played. This will be a more diverse sport rather than traditional sports. FS, and 200 Delivery of a new sport in PE for children to access and learn. Confident delivery by staff who attend. 2, 4, 5, 9 Team Teaching Specialist sport staff to spend a minimum of 10 full days in the academy to support teachers and team teach lessons in a variety of year groups and activities. FS, and 1400 Increase quality of PE delivery, confidence of staff to deliver PE, introduce new activities and advice / review sessions delivered by teachers. 2, 4, 9 Feedback will be sought from teachers to review the impact / quality. Healthy Eating Day To include: - Healthy eating assembly - Healthy eating workshops for Yr1 Yr6 - Healthy eating and get active diary This staff will also be able to advise and support us with: - Writing academy sport plans - Funding applications - Staff training on Sport Plan use - Linking with external partners including clubs, NGBs and coaches - Inset day CPD training for all staff (at request) - School Games Mark - Other events the school run sports day, wellbeing days, parent engagement etc, 500 The following day will provide our children with the knowledge and understanding of how to make good lifestyle choices when choosing what they eat and how much physical activity they undertake 2, 3, 4, 7, 9

Children will be offered the chance to take part in an additional inter-school free of charge competition programme. (Some we have to charge for as external agencies are involved). Time-wise, improvements should be measurable within that year group shortterm, over a three year cycle it should be evident throughout over those three years/ 1,2,3,5,9 Transport to and from competitions and fixtures Inter-school sports DRET Winter Cup DRET Summer Cup Competitions and fixtures at other schools Transport to and from competitions and fixtures across the year. In particular DRET Winter and Summer cup ows all children the opportunity to access extra-curricular sports and competitions away from school without having the issue of not being able to have their own travel arrangements. 1,3,4,6 Sports Day Morning and afternoon sports days for each phase. Parents are able to come and watch/support. FS, & 400 To develop skills through practising for the day. To learn to enjoy and handle competition and teamwork. To develop 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,9

7 Zulu Warriors Staff cover Funding to support the purchases of medals/certificates/stickers etc. In conjunction with Y4 Africa topic, the Zulus visit the school to develop cross-curricular links through music and dance. Money allocated for staff cover, enabling teachers to take part in CPD opportunities and attend fixtures with school teams. home/school relations through inviting parents and family. Basketball Football (boys) 2500 Enter teams into leagues/competitions which also run alongside DRET Winter and Summer Cups. To increase the participation of girls in football These will run throughout the year 1,2,3,5,9

8 Football (girls) Athletics Tennis Club Starting a tennis club for children to provide an extra sport to children who may not interested in the core sports football, netball, athletics and hockey. Whilst also helping to prepare children in preparation for local tennis competitions held in the area. 600 Through the tennis club we will be introducing children to tennis at an earlier age children looking to enter club participants into local competitions. Helping to improve hand eye co-ordination and physical activity levels in children. Tennis coach runs a local tennis club which will be promoted to children to help encourage them to continue in the sport to help maintain/improve physical activity levels in children. 1,2,3,5,9 Healthy lifestyle week Each year group to take part in an activity linked to healthy lifestyle week and work alongside the food technology teacher FS, & 300 Children will gain an insight into the importance of healthy eating and its impact on their lifestyle/general health. This ties into their sports day and the foods they should be eating in order to perform at their full potential. 2,6,7,8 Foundation stage outdoor PE clothing Hull Schools Active Purchase of outdoor clothing for Foundation stage children to help provide more opportunities for early years children to participate in physical activity sessions. The school will be entering the Hull Schools Active partnership which delivers a wide range of sport throughout the academic FS 500 Provides more opportunities for foundation stage children to improve their physical literacy, helping to improve mobility and increase physical activity levels. & 1500 Children will have the opportunity to take part in inter-school competitions in a wide range of sport. By participating 1,3,5,6

Sport uniform (Coats, Tracksuits and T-shirts) for coaches and teachers to wear during school s participation at Hull Schools Active and DRET sporting events. PE kit (Hoodies and T-shirts) for members of staff to wear when delivering PE lessons and clubs during the academic year. clothing will have school logo printed on. Specialised table tennis coaches will deliver PE lessons focused around table tennis for all age groups during the academic year (January to March). Whilst also delivering a lunch club for Key stage 2 children on a Wednesday. in these competitions it will help to promote the school in a positive light through social media. Whilst also helping to prepare children for DRET regional and National competitions that the trust holds, the Primary and Summer Cups. This will allow the school to enter competitions for both boys and girls and various ages. & 350 Promote the school in a positive manner when attending local, regional and national competitions. Creating the importance of wearing the correct clothing during PE lessons and clubs in children throughout the academic year. & 1,750 Specialised table tennis coaches will teach curriculum based Table tennis lessons for all key stages. Also provide opportunities for children in key stage 2 to take part in lunch time clubs. During lesson teachers will receive in practice CPD session on table tennis skills and how to deliver sessions. Total 20,280 2, 3, 4, 7, 9 1,2,3,5 & 9
