2 Announcements! Yearbooks are on sale. Cost of the books are $55. They will be on sale in the cafeteria during lunch every Friday. Order yours today!! ACT PREP: Check the schedule for which subject is which day. Math and English prep are each week. Please register if you need transportation.! ESS. ESS is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:40-4:10 in the Science hallway. You must sign up for transportation before 3 rd period on the days you are going to stay. Chess Club meets every Tuesday in room 221 after school. Beginners are welcome.! Job Fair. The YSC will be hosting a job fair in the gym March 15! Football Boosters are selling t- shirts for $10. Contact a booster or Coach Q for information.! Snow Makeup Days: The Warren County Public School Board voted at the February meeting to use Feb. 15, March 17, 18, 25 and May 26 as snow make up days. Click this link for more information and a full updated school calendar. Principal s Notes Mr. Mike Stevenson " The 2016 Basketball homecoming was a huge success! We had hundreds of family members attend our Wednesday night event and the gym was packed for the basketball games Friday night. I was proud of the effort of our Dragon and Lady Dragon basketball teams, as both of them picked up big district wins. I would like to congratulate Chloe Persinger and Nnmadi Igwe for being named 2016 Homecoming Princess and Prince, as well as Rana Cousin and Tre Williams for being named 2016 Homecoming Queen and King. " I would also like to thank all of the teachers and staff that played an essential role in the implementation of the homecoming activities (pep rally, ceremonies, dance, etc). Without their hard work and extra effort, it would not have been as successful as it was. 2

3 " The state ACT is coming up on March 1 st and I would like to wish all of our Juniors good luck on the test. The spring semester is busy with testing AP Exams, End- of- Course Assessments, COMPASS, KYOTE, and On- Demand. I would like to challenge parents and guardians to ask their students which of these tests that they will be participating in and to encourage their best effort. " I would like to remind parents and students that attendance is essential to the success of all students. Please make sure that students are here by the time the school day starts at 7:30am. Tardies to school and unexcused absences can compound quickly and can have consequences in regards to school activities. Please discuss the importance of attendance with your students. " I m proud of the progress that Warren Central has made thus far and I am looking " forward to continued growth as we finish strong this second semester. JN The Golden Dragon is a way for students to recognize a faculty or staff member they believe has displayed excellence at work. Students complete and submit a nomination form. Students, thank you for continuing to show respect and meet classroom expectations! 3

4 Watch for your student to bring home a SWAG TAG. A student can earn one for displaying the attributes of a humble swagger such as showing respect, willing to lead, actively engaged or generating school spirit. Student s names are placed in drawings to earn prizes for each Swag Tag. Parent Teacher Organization! At this time this organization is not in operation. If you are interested in assisting in a PTO please contact the main WCHS office at Dragon Council WCHS Library/Media Center Mrs. Watson Mrs. Forsythe! Library is OPEN and students are welcome.! 7 Message from the Cafeteria For information about lunches and managing your student s lunch account click on the following link. New this year is Free Breakfast and Lunch for All. It is important for all families to complete the forms that were sent home the first day. Thank you. Notes from Attendance Office! Reminder: Students are allowed 5 parent notes per semester.! PLEASE make sure the student s first and last name are on the notes turned into the office.! The student has 5 school days to turn the note in once returning to school! Students and parents can check Attendance status on Infinite Campus! Please contact Teresa Haley in the Attendance Office if you have questions! Very IMPORTANT: Students can only have 4 unexcused absences from this point until the end of the year.! IMPORTANT: Even if your student is one minute late to school it adds up. Please be on time!!!! Remember it is important for your student to be present at school! Remember it is equally important for your student to be on time for school. Each tardy adds up. 7
